We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Yay, first comment ^^
This creeps me out for some reason...

"trust me" about what????
This makes me think of a therapy session.
I agree. There's something awfully chilling about this drawing.
This makes me think of a therapy session.
It doesn't creep me out, it touches me. It looks as though it could be both the text and the staging of an aria in a wonderful modern opera.
Wow. I thought it was creepy, too! They are alone, for one thing. And the repeating of the phrase. So who are they talking to? Maybe the devil inside? Someone they are too shy to talk to?
Love the window treatment, tho!
Is that the Puerto Rican flag? Maybe it's a political cartoon. It looks like the person is lying on a psychologist's couch, trying to come to terms with the supposed need to trust the US despite the lack of self-governance accorded to Puerto Rico?
I think it means that when you are in Puerto Rico, you should trust the person in your bed.
I wonder why there is a outline on the paper, it seems to show they are locked up or shut in, in prison maybe?
The picture is so simplistic. A girl with stubby arms lying on some kind of bubble bed, a Puerto Rican flag on the wall. What is the box thing on the wall? And what is the lump on top of the dresser? Life doesn't make much sense for the poor armless girl. Maybe she's reminding herself to trust God amidst the senseless life she feels tempted to live.
I will trust him forever AND I like that he has a nub for an arm. Simply an amazing find.
I am inclined to think that the flag on the wall is Cuban. And that the person lying in the couch could be Fidel Castro (he is not in power anymore, and might die soon), asking his people to trust him. Who knows? Just a thought. Awesome find nonetheless.
Could be a woman laying there. First looked creepy but it could be what a small kid has seen: sick mother?
Nice bed, though.
it looks like a child drew it, but they would have been really smart
definetly creepy. is he talking to himself? and what's up with the flag seems to be the major point of interest in the picture.
I reckon it's a child whose been told by someone that they need to "trust themselves", and they've drawn a picture of them in their room doing so.
I don't think that is a flag. It looks like a window with a vertical blind open and a valance type curtain with the star shining through the curtain.
ew. sounds like something my creepy "uncle" skip used to say when my dad left the room. this drawing seems very sinister to me...
My initial impression was that this a child repeating the words of a loved one, perhaps a father, said before going off to war (the flag represents patriotism at any price?). Of course, I could be going too Freudian on this.
First thing I thought of was Cuba and Fidel as well.
Clearly, this is a transexual's cry for help. He/she is in mourning for his lost childhood, and has a penchant for legwarmers and dracula.

Is Cuba's flag. Very very unlikely that it's an accidental likeness. Star, right number of stripes, etc. Maybe the flag has nothing to do with the trust, but the child actually has a flag on her wall. Or maybe patriotism and love for her country is a big part of her life but it is not to do with the trust.
I think she's talking to God.
Fidel Castro came immediately to my mind as well.
I really really like this.
Guantanamo Bay reference?
Given the guy lying in bed and the words "trust me, trust me", I think this is the work of a Tool fan. I used to work with a guy who wrote parts of the lyrics to "Sober" on just about anything made of paper, and the "trust me, trust me" was his favorite.
What that has to do with Puerto Rico, I have no idea.
I think the Cuban and Puerto Rican flags are except the colours are reversed.
This gave me a comfort until i skimmed through the comments..
Is it sad that this is still about as good as I can draw? Better, actually...I could never make a dresser look like that.
Anon - it seems like we are the only ones who connected this with abuse. That was the first thing I thought of when i saw this.
(hope you are OK now!)
Katie,
You're not the only ones. My first thought was sexual abuse. <shudder> I a lot people who have been abused that describe something similar to this, I think. Who knows.
