A friend of mine flies a Paramotor, and one day during an outing a balloon floated into the air with a note tied to the end of the string. My friend went over, grabbed the balloon and rescued the note.

When I read it I thought of some kid missing his shadow, like it just went away one day.
Oh wow. I've been reading this site for a while but never needed to comment...until I saw this. How beautiful, and how sad too. I'd guess that the child has taken it upon themselves to do this...made me well up!
When I was little, my grandparents had a dog named Shadow. I wonder if the Shadow in the note was a kid's beloved dog.
when i was 8 i wrote a story about a girl who wrote a note like this, via balloon, to her grandfather. He replied .If only Shadow had hands instead of paws, maybe he would have written back =)

this might sound silly, but i don't think your friend shoud ahve interfered with the ballon. he should just ahve let it go where the wind took it.
Hi, I think you should re-attatch that note to a baloon and send it up to heaven, so it will get to shadow!
How weird! I had a cat named Shadow that died when I was a kid when I lived in Lawrenceville, GA. I wish I would've thought to send a note to Shadow on a balloon...

Oh wow.... I teared up reading this. Then I read it a second time. "Please show me you remember me" had me reaching for a tissue.
Yeah you should send the note back on it's way. signed pics of god are going for lots of money these days. If shadow does remember him maybe he can pull some strings and get him one.
That is so brutal! Definitely made me cry. What a sin... I totally want to take this kid home and buy him/her a new dog/cat.

My teacher in 4th grade told me dogs and cats don't go to heaven.
I went to Catholic school and my awesome awesome dog had just died.
That was the beginning of atheism for me.
I cried.
Innocence like this makes my day
sometimes the innocence of a child just makes you realize how tragic the world really is.
I'm just sad the balloon didn't get to make it to heaven...I hope Shadow got it anyway. I think that's how heaven works.
