We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
What a grotesque love...
I am sure after that he wont want her.
That's profound
It seems like something i would write to my guy =) and he would laugh and laugh and laugh. This person shares our sense of humor!
Kinda cute, but the creepiness of it outweighs the thoughtfulness.
I once said to someone I loved, "I would die for you," and she replied, "I believe you, but would you live for me?"
That is the question, isn't it.
This was actually drawn by Vincent Van Gogh's nephew.
I agree with Ninstar; this really makes me laugh. true love...and the picture makes it almost too mushy.
I cant believe this wasn't from someone near where I live. Very similar to a song I heard once called Handicapped by a local band. The song was about a guy cutting off different parts of his body to be with a girl. "And I'm gonna cut my fingers off and I'm gonna cut my whole hand off and I'm gonna cut my arm for you"
I've been looking and looking for a good find in Brookline. What's your secret...lurking around school yards, perusing used books...or secretly writing these messages and passing them off as "found"?
I'm jealous, anyway.
You're envious (not jealous). Sorry. I can't stop myself. It's like Tourette's, only more annoying.
I'm curious as to whether the artist was Mugar (in '05), or C. Spydell. Or was this a collaborative effort?
Why would anyone imagine that the love of their life might require such a sacrifice? (and even though the words "love of my life" were included, my first and most enduring thought was "coyote arm!")
It's been a while since the last post, but I just came across this...
Brookline is very close to where Boston University is located, and Mugar is the largest and most used library for undergraduate use at BU. The drawing looks like it's on one of the cards they put in the book to remind you when you have to bring it back.
C. Spydell is most likely the author of the book this card was put in.
Just thought I'd offer that information to all those curious about the names!
Then prove it.
Yaaay! It's click on Found and End Up at Random Find of the Day Day!
I love those days.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Karaoke Boy!! I wouldn't cut off my own arm for you, but I'll help you sing One Burbon, One Scotch, & One Beer next time.
I see this is a Random Find of the Day Day, but I thought I'd comment anyway. I think that this is a love note between two women given the rather macho tone of the sentiment and the feminine hand and the self-portrait, and the spelling of "Andie." I think C. Spydell is the artist and they drew it in the Mugar Library in '05 on the back of a date due card. I don't think that the Mugar '05 and C. Spydell have anything to do with a book in the Mugar Library, unless the woman that wrote this is a Library clerk there, but even so, very little is written by hand in library records or markings anymore and certainly that was the case in '05. I hope that C. didn't cut off her arm for "Andie" and I wonder if this wouldn't make her feel kind of squirmy today.
I'm torn between jealousy and being creeped out.
