We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Yay! I finally got one of my finds on here!
I saw that skunk painting his tail black and totally hitting on a cat.
A laminated skunk -- pretty classy!!
Congrats Lauren.
I am totally going to be on the lookout for this little skunk... I live by BSU, how have I not seen any of these fliers? I hope baby's name is "Flower."
Yea Lauren! Can I please have my cat back now?
I think the skunk is a "her". The expression on her face looks like she's missing her children and her owners, too. If it's a pet, I wonder if they deglanned her. Hope so, but these things should not be kept in the house.Pew!
Yeah, right. Like I'm gonna go up to any skunk I come across and try to pick it up, in the hope that it's the particular skunk shown on the poster.
"Here, kitty, kitty...."
Yay Lauren!
I never knew there were such things as professional skunk portrait photographers.
akes a couple of them to make a decent stew, but you have to make sure to remov
This find STINKS!
Mayee it iz a heem and he is lookeeng for hiz cherie to make ze love weeth, no?
Pepe LePew...Thanks for the reference, Miss Scarlett.
Deglanned, declawed, and...something about those sharp teeth...?
Yeah you got yer dead cat and you got yer dead dog
On a moonlight night you got yer dead toad frog
Got yer dead rabbit and yer dead raccoon
The blood and the guts they're gonna make you swoon!
I shudder to think of the sheer volume of prank calls this poster must have generated
One person's "pet" is another person's "vermin." Where I grew up skunks were definitely non grata; aside from the stink factor they were said to carry rabies.
Not as bad as pigeon fanciers, though.
Maybe it's the monitor on which I'm viewing this Find, but it looks more like a very fluffy badger. Or is the little skunk under a furry blanket? I see plenty of skunks on my AM bike ride. It's funny how distinctive (and comical) the skunk's gait is. You can tell from 3 blocks away that it's a skunk and not a cat or a small dog.
sick in tired, so true!
pets/vermin, trash/treasure
Oh, what a wonderful world...
I agree...this little critter could be a badger. I bet they are so sad to lose her! (even though it's way more fun to think it's a skunk.)
FOUND &/or Lauren -we're gonna need some follow up on this one to see if she was ever reunited with her family!!!
Thanks everyone!
I never heard any more about the skunk after the fliers and ad in the paper. This all happened about a year ago.
Everyone I talked to about it was like, "Yeah, like I'm going to go up to any random skunk I see and try to pick it up." It seemed like a lost cause.
However, you can't tell from the black and white flier, but from the color ad in the paper, you could see that this was no ordinary skunk. It was a brownish creamy color.
There is a pet store in Marion, IN, which is about 35 miles from Muncie, that had a sign saying "Baby skunks coming soon!" They must be a popular exotic pet.
Here is a link to another exotic pet that was/is lost in Muncie: http://tinyurl.com/ljy6pd
I just got out the original flier and noticed that the bottom was cropped off. It listed roads, neighborhoods and parks where the skunk might be. Also, if you couldn't tell, those are rose petals to the right and in front of the skunk.
Do you think I should call them and ask if they ever found the skunk????
@Lauren ... call! call! call!
Ok, I called. The lady said that she has not found the skunk, which is a female. She asked me if I had seen it. I said I hadn't, but was looking through some old things and was just wondering about it. I didn't want to try to explain FOUND to her. She said it was very sweet of me to call her. She said last week someone called and said they saw a skunk that was mostly white, which would fit the description of the one in question, but it was gone by the time she arrived to the area. She thinks she's still out there somewhere! I wished her luck in finding her lost pet. It was a pleasant conversation.
So, if someone takes a wild animal and turns them into pet (like, removing glands from skunks that they would normally use to protect themselves), then that now-domesticated animal gets lost, how will it defend itself?
Just wondering.....
I sense a Lifetime movie channel movie script idea forming where Lauren befriends the skunk lady ...

When a stranger keeps calling about Skunks
That's a good question fooch. Same with de-clawing a cat, I suppose. My guess would be that a skunk's biggest threat is cars because the only time I ever see them is dead on the road. :(
I won't call her anymore unless I find the skunk!
Cute little stinker, isn't she?
Congratulations Lauren! It's fun to see your find here! Plus you got the coveted First Comment. Wow!
(Every time I see your name I think of the photo find of a factory, cuz I think that's the first time I noticed your name in the comments.)
I hope the little skunk is okay.
@fooch & lauren --
maybe the nice owner-lady sent her skunk-let to Karate classes? In between her professional photographer shoots, I mean.
Lauren rocks!
For some reason, I just think skunks are so cute.
It's not a skunk, it's a ferret...I'm hoping the actual owner knows this, and just skipped the explaining part.
It's 100% skunk.
Animal recognition fail.
Weird this is, the lady who's skunk this is lives in the house behind mine! She went around the neighborhood a while ago asking if we had seen the skunk. Found out later it was living under our shed.
