We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
What religion where they studying? lol
Issues much, Jamal?
Jamal is smiling pretty broadly. I think he's happy to be walking up to the steps in front of the Church of England. He's glad that the Anglicans don't, after all, support the devil (as he had heard earlier).
I have never been to Chuch or Cuch. Maybe they are Satanist places of worship.
Only clowns go to chuch.
The Angelican church has the same logo as the "Adam's Mark" hotel chain!
It's cool that there's a velvet rope outside like it's a night club. A night club where you worship the Devil, not God. For real-e-o. Those Anglicans have had the wool pulled over all of the rest of Christianity since the beginning.
There are so many places to go with this. I think I'll just go to Hell.
I thought Jamal was some sort of rocketship, the nose of which was exploding on takeoff.
The spelling is iffy, but the lettering indicates that Jamal may have a future in
Graffitti art.
Anyone know if there is a cover charge here? Hope my fro is big enough to get in.
The Chuch of England, or should we call it CuchesL Ednglard?, was founded back in the 1970s when large blocky-bubbly fonts were the grooviest thing. They have yet to update their offical trademark logo. It costs a lot of quid to do that.
That could be Queen Elizabeth I pondering entrance of the sanctuary.
Since I am Jewish, this makes no sense to me.
Something about this made me smile. It's such a light-hearted look at the Anglicans. Weird he spelled that right. Funny he didn't include Henry VIII and ill-fated wives in the illustration, but maybe they haven't got that far in the lessons yet...
The CHUCH ????
Ah Yes... This is where we bash all churches because some church members are idiots.
Forget the fact that countless homeless people are helped by the church.
Forget the fact that the Catholic church is the biggest supplier of health care in the world.
Forget the fact that they feed the hungry.
Forget the fact that they offer council to those who are depressed and can't afford psychotherapy.
Just because some members hold beliefs that I don't agree with, all churches are evil, is that it? Well guess what? I go to church. I consider myself a liberal. I support gay marriage. I want universal health care. I find televangelist blowhards offensive too. And I'm not alone in my thinking.
I like the little character. I wonder if the word 'JAMAL' is something other than a name?
All ranting aside, the building and its steeple look like a snail crawling to the left.
@ Feeling ....but it's the Chuch of England!
@ Highplainsdrifter
Oh...I see your point.
Feeling . . . My goodness, where did that come from? Here, have cool drink of water and just relax.
I don't think Jamal wanted to offend anyone, he just wanted to party! those devil worshippers are supposed to be hard core...
I thought Jamal was a tree.
I was thinking that this thing on top of the chuch looks like the scary rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
@ Wide Awake
Sorry. Admittedly, that was significantly rant-like. It's just that this site has an anti-religious bent and I got a bit defensive. Probably one of those things that I should have waited to post, but hey, I was feeling incoherent, so what the hell.
Anyway, I can assure you that despite my ramblings, they were not typed in a red-faced key-pounding sort of way. I am relaxed, thanks. I just wanted to make a point for those who do not find faith to be irrelevant.
My guess is that Jamal is 12, zit-covered, and working toward being a normal, cynical high-schooler (or the british equivalent). My rant was in response to people's postings more than Jamal's lovely drawing (which I still think looks like a snail).
wow- you think Found is anti-religious, really? I rather think it's the people who come here, interpret Finds, and post who lean toward the "anti-religion" bent.
(was is also you who said that the Found Folk hate the holidays?)
Perception is nine tenths of the law.
I did not mean to imply that the fine people who WORK at the Found site have ANY kind of bent. I don't think they do. But as the site (at least for me) is primarily people's posted comments to found items, I consider those postings "This site". Therefore, my comments apply to those who post, who I think you will find, really DO have an anti-religious bent.
My apologies to anyone who works at Found and was offended.
And I did find the Christmas day find was "a bit dark" and posted as such.
As for "perception", I'm not going to do a survey to log 'pro' and 'anti' religious comments, but do you honestly think that when the topic of faith comes up that there are more positive or negative comments?
The very first thing I saw when I looked at this was a hand giving the devil horns - which turned out to make quite a lot of sense.
Note: The hand was the spire, just so no one thinks I'm bonkers.
I come here.. um.. religiously..
does that count for anything? (my antireligion bent probably somehow ties in with my voeyuristic tendencies and deep and abiding love of Found. Somehow. maybe.)
I'm not trying to convert anybody. Believe what you want as long as it harms no-one. But give me the right to do the same.
I'm done now.
I like how the Finder's lastname is "Chappell", which at first looked like "Chapel" to me...
At first I couldn't see the god part, so I thought it said "support the devil! NOT!" But then - how would Jamal, being so young, remember Wayne's World? Too good to be true folks, too good to be true.
