We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
hmm kinda sickly sweet.
What's with the dramatic pause before "stayed (heart)" ?
Sounds like someone's gearing up for Valentine's day.
ick, this makes me embarrassed as a woman. I'll bet he won't be staying next time.
All you need now is Lloyd Dobler holding a radio over his head and this love scene would be complete
ugh
He's just happy he got LAID.
Last night he smeared her w/ marmalade & she was tasty enough to make him stay, but today -in the cool, clear light of day- he give her the razzberry. Cad.
it sounds like song lyrics. it sort of rhymes.
And she can't say this out loud?
Did she get up in the dark of the morning and leave her raspberry loving, marmalade spreading, night staying (... gravy eating, lawn mowing ...) lover in bed to find the note later?
Or -- worse -- did she drop this note off at a study carrel in the library only to have it scooped up instead by the Finder?
This reminds me of the poem "This is Just to Say" by William Carlos Williams.
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
"What's with the dramatic pause before "stayed (heart)" ?"
Pretty sure it's a poem so it's allowed. :)
She meant to add "away" after stayed but ran out of ink or something.
Hey Smiles, that rhymes.
That's so cute
This is awkwardly worded and it gave me a headache trying to read it.
I have to say,
I would feel okay,
If a girl wrote a note,
this sweet to me,
it would make my day,
I would want to stay,
as long as she wasn't a Hippy...
it is awkwardly worded. Probably because she was trying too hard.
Obviously not something you'd give someone the first couple times you saw them, but it's cute, it's not like whoever wrote it said it in front of all 'the guys' or in public or something.
Now he's back home doing 9 to 5
Living his grey flannel life
But when he turns off to sleep
Old memories meet, More, More, More
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Ta Ta
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Here
Mocha Choco Lata Ya Ya
Creole Lady Marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi
Voulez-vous couher avec moi, ce soir?
Voulez-vous couher avec moi
If it's awkwardly written it must be because she's drunk with love.
OR, it could be a morning prayer in the Kindergarten class where the kids are happy for the snacks and happy that God stayed by their beds last night to fend off the closet monsters.
*WARNING* bad pun ahead *WARNING*
aaaww, this note was written by someone who really knows how to "preserve" love.
*IT IS NOW SAFE TO RESUME READING THE COMMENTS THE PUN HAS PASSED*
One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish...I do not like them on a train, I do not like them on a plane...
Let's see then...
Thank you for the raspberries
Thank you for the marmalade
And for last night,
let me say
when you might
have gone away
thank you much
because you stayed
sugar is sweet
and so are you!!
Awwww! I liked every bit of this little ditty. Or should I say every bitty of this little ditty.
At any rate, I thought it was sweet.
I just finished watching "Walk the Line" for the first time the other night. Wasn't that raspberries she brought to him in bed at the end of the movie?
Maybe it's a long lost note from Johnny to June.
Hey, whatever butters your toast!
I haven't tasted raspberries for years. Where I live they are a luxury and cost many dollars a pound. My beloved brought me some once. They were delicious, and a true gift of love.
As for the poem, we can't all be Shakespeare. Or even John Donne. Ease up.
mmm toast...
Maybe I should have called it an "itty bitty ditty". I'm on a roll this morning.
...now, go rake leaves (and quit farting on my flowers).
Please come over and stay again this evening... I have something I want to try with a banana and some apple butter this evening
...it's all very vague at this point, but I'm sure you'll help me figure it out in the end.
ummmm - apple butter - but a banana in the end won't work for me.
Hiplainsdrifter, you make me blush!
"Come on baby, toast my bread.
Come and marmalade my toasties.
Try to set my toast on fi-yah..."
Sorry. I have a fever. I think I'll go to bed now.
In the words of Amigo Montoya:
"I dunna think it meanz, whatcha think meanz."
Raspberries?
Orange marmalade?
Is that what you kids are calling it these days?
i think it sounds like a sticky mess, before and after...i guess the marmalade was to make the raspberries stick better....but who likes marmalade? i guess we can guess what the heart after stayed means, he help clean up the mess.
This note made me smile! I love the way it's worded. Makes me think of summer, kindness and falling in love.
When I was falling in love with my soulmate, we stood in a raspberry field on a summer afternoon and picked the berries off the vines. They were warm and very sweet. Memories...
I'm partial to marmalade on a nicely toasted English Muffin...
I just had to point out that it's "Inigo Montoya." Sorry. I love the PB.
Personality inventory:
Which of the two did you think of upon reading that "marmalade" line: Paddington Bear or Patti Labelle?
Personally, I'm a Paddington Bear guy who prefers Patti Labelle ladies. Which is to say that I'm an effete gentleman who likes to get nastay from time to time.
hmm frottage, I'm pretty sure you're the only one who thought of Paddington Bear. Not sure if Hiplains up there was channeling Patti LaBelle or Christina Aguilera et al... (but I'd have to guess the latter.)
Paddington is my favorite bear!! He's from Peru.
i know i'm a month late on posting to this thread but i had to point out that this is the second verse of a real poem. it's called Thank You by Rod McKuen.
