Hey Gurl
FOUND by Erin in Park by my high school
My friend and I had just finished a swim meet and we were about ready to get into her car and drive home. We saw a friend in the park and walked over to chat. As we were talking and roaming I looked down and saw a folded up piece of paper.

I think Tania (I'm guessing) needs to pay more attention in language arts class and hook up with Andrea at lunch.

First loves are always storybook romances.

Of course, sometimes they're more like the story line of an afternoon soap opera: She likes Raymond too. Raymond just wants to be friends. Tania wants more. She thinks that he thinks that she said that Andrea said that she thought she heard that . . . . ah, young love. I'm sure glad I'm past that age.

To "not just another"...There's a "Dutcher" Lab at Washington University School of Medicine in the Genetics Dept. Maybe she's got the "skillz" and has an internship there?

Yiiiikes. And some say that textspeak is going to become the norm.
It's Tonio Raymond. (as in Antonio- which is why txting notegurrl refers to him as a he.)

Wow- reading this just sucked away prolly like, a zillion brane cells.

@ should have slept in: It actually says "I wanted 2 say sure".

Reading this note was painful. It scares me that people write like this on a regular basis, and that they think it is ok.

After the mandatory Tylenol and 1 hour cooling-off period, I still don't care about tonia (the note writer) or whether raymond likes *Andrea.

What I want to know about is how the swim meet went. That's got to be much more interesting than reading a transcript of a teenage texter's social life.

Her cellphone should be impounded until she proves she can write a coherent, correctly-spelled sentence with all words in place.

Oh god- I don't know which is worse- the actual content of the note or the horrendous handwriting. I hate everything about this find, especially the way ANDREA is written at the top.

Blech.

Ugh. I have a headache, too.

As far as being an example of the youth of today, this had better be the exception, not the norm.

Muse on the Loose
Tania couldn't stop thinking about Raymond, even in language arts when the teacher was talking about how the word "know" was spelled. She didn't hear, so she decided to write a note to Andrea about Raymond. Destiny had been talking with Tania, and Tania told her she liked Raymond. "he said he just wants to be friends," Destiny told her, but Tania didn't believe it. She figured Destiny just liked Raymond and was trying to prevent their love. Andrea's birthday party was soon, and she'd invited Raymond in the hopes that he would come and see Tania before she had to go back to Dutcher Middle School because of her bad grades. Ninth grade just wasn't for her—eighth might be easier. Especially language arts.

OKAY! This all makes sense to me now, thanks to Muse...
Honestly, I had read this like eighty times trying to figure out wtf "2 Dutcher (mabe"
meant. Kudos to the note-writer for acknowledging at least one proper noun?

Also: agreeing with The Youth of Today- there are smart kids out there. A lot of them. Just um... none that write notes like this to each other, leaving them to be Found.

Speaking as a teacher, this note is somewhat encouraging that not EVERY student is texting during class. Tonia is probably always texting, but it looks as if her language artz teacher has done a good job on stopping the texting. Perhaps her cell phone was taken? For some reason, while texting and note writing are both bad behaviors during school, note writing seems not so bad when compared to texting. Does anyone else feel that way?

Frottage in the fictional mortuary, mourning the untimely passing of literacy, contemplating poking the body with my finger when no one's looking. Just the once.
@ Baby Basil: who or what is "the Bazz"? It sounds like some legendary drunken, violence-prone British "footballer" from the 1970s who, alas, died before his time from an accidental whore overdose. I imagine they'd try in vain to make Russell Crowe look younger for the role nowadays. A younger Brendan Gleeson would've been perfect.
