We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Joanie Loves Chachi indeed--at least once. We have photographic proof, with the little Chachlet here.
I bet that woman took one look at her breasts in this photo and was really irritated.
you took the homeless man's polaroid? the one semblance of his old non-homeless, family life? sad sad.
All the sales girls tried, but simply could not find a bra to give this woman cleavage. It was their only failure to date. She was asked to never come in again. Embarassed, she moved out in the middle of the night taking Chach Jr. and the Toyota. This was the beginning of the downfall for Chachi Sr.who spent the years since showing this photo and searching for them.
And here I was wondering whether this was the last photo of Chachi Jr. before they tossed him in the trunk of tha car and drove out into the desert. What was I thinking??
Maybe that this shows Bradley and one of his girlfriend's college roommates with the offspring from their genuine friendship? ("Plural marriage" often starts these days with plural friendship, I'm told.)
It's "Dirt" son don't try to church it up...
Whew! They got the little guy out of the trunk, after they crossed the border.
that's a sweet car.
And you gotta love those bellbottoms on Dad.
The Chachlet is getting scolded for letting go of the balloon.
Librarian, I had the same thought about the trunk and Chachi Jr.
It almost looks like Chachi Sr. is wearing saddle shoes.
...blowing away? Were the Santa Ana winds up that day in Los Angeles?
((Homeless person comes back to the corner/ home, looks down for only personal effects on sidewalk/bureau, "what the hell??" and notes that favorite picture of child he and an old girlfriend abducted has gone missing. [wipes nose on sleeve] Gets nervous... and walks backwards down the street just in case the intruder is still in the 'house' - works way
off of sidewalk into some bushes to see if photo stealer returns to scene of the break in. Waits. Willing to wait weeks to get even. Checks to make sure steak knife is still tucked in his boot))
Chachlet is the homeless guy. This was the only photo he had of Mom & Dad.
I know...thinking the same about the poor homeless guy.
Haha! SDJJ...poor kid is crying that he doesn't want to get back in the trunk and mom is telling him that it is okay now. They are safe in America.
I LOVE that guy's shirt! Pure Vintage, baby.
What kind of car is that? '72 Ford Maverick? That was my first thought, but the tail lights are wrong. Wrong for a Chevy Nova, too... Car Guys?
Anyway. Some of the commenters today have kinda turned this section into a quasi-racist Chachi hate fest (as to be expected), but I'll say it here anyway:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NIGHTINGALE!!! I love ya!!!
I love photo Finds!
The dad reminds me of Judd Nelson.
And hey, I got my name mentioned on another Found blog notice! Woohoo!!
The Dad's kinda hot.. I wish I could see his shoes.
Happy Birthday, Nightingale! You're SOME RockStar, getting Found Blog facetime-- not once but TWICE now!
And folks, sorry to say it, but life, gravity, and nursing bebbies just kinda happens to boobies. Plus.. it looks like it was the early seventies. Free range boobs were all the rage.
Dear Nightingale, Happy Birthday!!
Perky, free range boobies, heehee.
@Chrome-Toaster, my vote is that that is an AMC Matador from the early 70's (1974?). Definitely an AMC, almost certainly a Matador.
Dit di di dit di Dora.
Dit di di dit di Dora.
The AMC Matador looks closer than any of the car makes I google-image searched. The emblem on the car is different, though.
Also, is that tail-light half reverse light? Or are we catching some sort of reflection on the bottom half of the lens?
Dude, you can't jack a homeless guy's stuff. He was coming back.
By the way, this Polaroid is in REALLY GOOD shape. No scratches; no discoloration; no ghost images in the background.
Does that indicate it was cherished and taken care of by the original owner?
The car is a 1970 Mazda R100 or 1971 RX2 - first rotary powered car in the US

I love searching for stuff like this.
has anyone else ever realized that advertisement on the side of a creepy looking guy/girl on the side???
it's always there!
And I thought the child was a girl. Those darn ambiguous haircuts from the 70's. I could swear I had a haircut like that!
Yeaaaah. Maybe you should give it back. This sounds borderline stolen...not found.
Definitely not stolen.
It was blowing away.
You could call it rescued.
Happy Birthday Nightingale!
Happy Birthday Nightingale!
I LOVE this picture! And what a great story behind the find. I wish I could see what else was in the bag. I hope Tania rescued all, later to be revealed here on found!
Nice work, Feeling In Coherent! I guess I'm not a car fanatic- I had no idea that Mazda's even been around that long. That car definitely has the same split tail light. (or whatever it is)
Oh. And also, your "definitely not stolen..." post is pure poetry. I heart you.
That's actually a sad story. : (
I feel a little bit bad for that homeless man.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN NIGHTINGALE!!
xxx
I had no idea Mazdas got exported to the US back then either.
This guy must have been fairly well loaded as I guess rotary-engined cars did not come cheap?
More reserach needed.
By the way, who took the photgraph??
*research* sorry
*photograph* sorry
Getting dyslexic in my old age!
Aaahh, bell bottoms! And is that a single sweater thing or a tank top over a black long sleeve T?
And does he have massive sideburns and a tash or is it just shadow?
Ah, the 70s!
...Yeuch.
effing werewolves!! Yikes! *runs*
that's all I have to say on this subject!
*hides*
this should be returned. seriously.
[Clicks back arrow to stare at hot dad once again. Wishes he would have tilted head up just a little. Sighs and puts him away with other hot Found guys.]
HB again Night -- I posted on the 9-9-9 about 9-9-9... check it out!!
RE: Mazdas and the rotary engine....
I don't remember the whole jingle, just fer-sure the 2nd line:
Regular engines go (chunk chunk chunk?)
Mazda engines go "hmmmmm"
My friends named their little purry kitten Mazda!
