Lick Me, '90s Style
FOUND by Mikhail in Jacksonville High School, Jacksonville, AL
I found this on a bookshelf in biology a few years back. I like a couple of the bands and so I kept it.
Phoebe Muse
Ok who found my doodling page from my angst ridden high school years. Last time I recall seeing this was in smoke filled room.

This is probably just me, but holy god, I am SO glad to be out of the musical sinkhole of the late 90's.

@Phoebe, i agree, this could have been mine about 13 years ago. Although there would have been a spot exclusively for Tori Amos.

I don't know who Judd Baker is, either... Not much comes up on searching for him. Maybe this belonged to Judd Baker; he's the doodler?

Bored in the Clubhouse
A show for the whole family
is what it says in the little squares. (with the E from whole cut off.)

I think maybe the stoned doodler meant Judd Nelson, and just got the name confused.

Who's Perry Forrell?

I like the middle finger, "Censor This!" there in the middle. What a REBEL, man! a Rebel.

Erp noticed too, but it needs to be said: Grateful. Grateful Dead.

Still Bored, but not as much so (Thank you, Found Magazine!) in the clubhouse
OK never mind. Just googled and Perry FArrell's (was, whatever.) the frontman for Janes Addiction.

My early-to-mid-nineties sex, drugs and rock and roll doodle page would have included Gene Loves Jezebel, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Butthole Surfers.. exclude the LSD and play up the magic mushrooms a bit more. (those two teeny tiny ones just don't represent.)

ballpoint pen ink on notebook cover stock is a very satisfying medium. (construction paper's good, too.)

Jeff was so bored one day as he sat in US history. The teacher didn't know enough history to be teaching the class, and she was just reading from the biased textbook. His thoughts drifted to pretty much the only things he ever thought about: sex, drugs, and rock and roll. So he started doodling on his notebook.

Typical rocker type teen who was bored.
Hes a pot head & likes all the classics: nirvana the cure grateful dead etc. etc.
He was bored, and thats what he thinks about hhaha, seems like a cool kid.

I for one am impressed.
I have never smoked any form of a drug and I do not have the attention span needed to accomplish such a time consuming task.

Melody's in in Nirvana
Brings me back to "in school" suspension. I hated dressing down for PE and refused to, in turn I ended up getting eight hours of time where I had to be quiet and sit still in a florescent lit and dull room on a weekly basis. The entire eight hours was spent being as stoned as I could get and creating something genius like this or writing poetry in my journal. Imagine if I had just dressed down and played tag football...

"Greatful Dead"? Was this guy on drugs or something?

What bothers me more, though, is the word "Ministry" right in the middle. Or does it not seeming to me to fit in with all the rest show me up as a confused old person?

Yeah ... me too ... this could easily have been the product of my bored self in 1995 or so.

Librarian in the woodwork

oh yeah, forgot to mention a librarian-geek reference: "Internet Grateful Med".

Back in the day, our own National Library of Medicine put together a bunch of very, very helpful databases of medical and medicine-related information. It was pretty early on in the Internet age, actually. We were giddy that it got called "Grateful Med."

It's been surpassed now. But it's fondly remembered by librarians who recall the pre-web days of searching the internet.

Do people in America actually say "back in the day" or do you only write it?

Yes, people in America say "back in the day" sometimes. 90's sinkhole? Can't say I agree.

@ Melody's in in Nirvana : think we might've been in the same gym/iss class :p

if this is the back cover of a spiral notebook, i am certain it was not done in one day, but probably throughout the time it took to empty it of its paper (hence, the different inks and squeezed in afterthoughts)

i'd almost claim this for mine if it didn't include grateful dead or nirvana *augh* but did include metallica

Many people actually say "back in the day" but probably no one under the age of 35.

Libarian's a Dead Head? Who knew?

I've learned from my good friend Google that Psalm 69 was the 5th studio album from the Industrial metal band Ministry, but I also couldn't help but look it up in my handy King James Bible. some of my favorite snippets:

...They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty.... I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.. they that sit in the gate speak against me, and I was the song of the drunkards..

but it's all good, cuz God's gonna strike down all those haters, and, OVCOARSE, I'll be living happily ever after in the magical sky kingdom pretty soon.

the grateful dead? uhm...for someone with otherwise decent music taste (ministry, nin, the cure) it's a bit tragic that they fall down soooo hard.
