anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...

and so as not to worry anyone, marty left the note right where it was until he could get some help lifting it.
This is sweet. I think it's from a man to a woman.
Whenever I see the name 'Marty' I hear Ben Kingsley as Cosmo in "Sneakers" talking menacingly to Robert Redford as Marty.
Anyway, was it too heavy for Marty to pick up? Or does "this" refer to a prescription? Or a kidnapping ransom payment?
What would make the note writer worry so much?
...give me hope, help me cope, with this heavy load...John Lennon
I'm thinking this was stuck to the forehead of a "working girl" - if you know what I mean.
@Dog Breath: George Harrison
I wonder how much those oxygen tanks weigh?
Shell in OZ, I think it is woman to man, both getting up in the years and looking out for each other.
What in the world are Soo Locks?
Yea now I gotta look up Soo Locks.
Marty needed orthotics, wheelchairs, hospital beds, ostomy supplies, overbed tables, walkers, commodes, crutches, traction, trapeze bars, canes, 4 wheel walkers, and trapeze bars. He and his senior club had a lot of health problems. His wife Irene worried about him picking up the whole load by himself, so she hired movers to help him.
I know this feeling all too well. Men are very stubborn when faced with things they used to be able to do with ease, but can no longer do. People in general have this quality, but men seem to have it worst.
I am more intrigued with the finder's story.
B. Wing, sounds like a fabulous trip. I am gonna Google Soo Locks, too.
Music Trivia got to it before me...George Harrison, indeed!
While you folks are looking up "Soo Locks," see if you can find out why "Sault" is pronounced "Soo" but "Soo" isn't spelled "Sault".
Because sensible, down-to-earth midwesterners took a senseless French word and gave it a spelling that all of America could pronounce. We're not all elitist and stuff around here.
Humbly yours...:)
I spent every summer of my childhood in the Soo. I have been to the locks more times than I can count, and it seems like we went through on our small fishing boat once, but that is an extremely fuzzy memory and may be completely made up.
When I see the name Marty I think of Back to The Future.
Chicken!!!!
George Harrison, you're right.
@missing: why keep us in suspense??!! You have been there but do not shed light on what it is? Geez...
See, I didn't see it as an older couple... I saw it as mom worrying about her "little" boy... who is all grown up- thus the note was discarded with a roll of the eye into the street. All it was was an old box of stuff to take out to the garbage... maybe 20 pounds... her grown son was more then ok to take it to the curb alone.
@ bored ... enexelent tie-in to the other Find for today! The thing being picked up must have been the huge and heavy box of school papers, and art work, and hand-made gifts ... his "stuff" ... that he'd made for her decades ago.
Good call!
C'mon people, take some initiative!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sault_Ste._Marie,
And if that link fails, google Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Wikipedia. It's not a big mystery.
Definitely google. That link sucks.
My guess is that Marty is picking up prescription painkillers such as some opiate or morphine derivative, and the worrier is worried because Marty has a history of drug abuse.
He could have been going to the bad part of town to score some heavy shit and needed backup.
@Dogbreath - I agree - bad part of town... bullets and oxygen tanks don't mix well.
