We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Somehow this find and its description don't match. Until you hit "magnify", that is.
She's got zoo ambivalence; I can so relate.
In the context of winter coat, gloves, winter boot and legwarmers, sounds like she wants winterize her iPod and computer too. Maybe there's a matching set of iPod sleeves and legwarmers out there ... unless Devin finds them first.
Watch out Will!! This girl's got it going on.
My question: while I am of course happy that the Library (love the curly "y" by the way) made the 'beat Devin' list, I have to wonder whether the writer and Will are planning on meeting in the library to do, um, something in celebration of completing the list.
oh ... wait a minute ... it says "in Will's bed," but it doesn't say Will will be there, too. Hmmmm.
Hmmm...questionable if she will really beat Devon to the zoo.
The list on the back would have been more interesting if it was labeled "Places to beat Devon". It would have taken on a whole new S&M kind of meaning.
I also misread "gloves" as "G loves" and I thought she was shopping for music (G love and special sauce)
Places to Beat Devon:
...in the principal's office
...in Walmart
...in the Cry Room at church
...in the grocery store parking lot
...in front of other kids, to make an example
...behind the barn
...on the hand with a ruler
...in the shins with a ball bat
...in his face with an ugly stick
...about his head & shoulders
...across his bare butt cheeks repeatedly
...to within an inch of his life
Shouldn't Devon have a safe-word?
@Eusta B. - you left out:
...to a pulp
How about places to Beat Off Devon? Kinky...
I'm going with Devin is a female - she and her BFF both like Will - and Miss Competitive Edge wants to get in Will's bed with only her leg warmers on first... Hopefully Will has purchased a 'sleeve' for extra-curricular activities.
The girl's name Devin \d(e)-vin\, also used as boy's name Devin, is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "poet". Also an alternative spelling for Devon.
Devin has 4 variant forms: Deva, Devinne, Devvin and Devyn.
Baby names that sound like Devin are Devina, Deven and Devan.
Devin is a very common first name for women (#1606 out of 4276) and also a very common last name for both men and women (#23107 out of 88799). (1990 U.S. Census)
Displayed below is the baby name popularity trend for the girl name Devin.

Thanks HPDinSPM...I guess I should've put more thought into my list before I rushed to the send button.
BTW, The dude's name is pronounced De-VON. I know, because I've had to beat him before.
Why does she want jeans that fit, but doesn't specify that on any other clothing purchace?
I've never seen a Dickie for an iPod or a computer, but that might be what she's looking for.
I like "winterboots" as one word. It reminds me of Cormac McCarthy's writing (which, incidentally, was indirectly responsible for getting me into a big fight with some asshole on this very unique day in the Found comments section):

@Geek: She's wanting, specifically, jeans that fit. Not the ones that droop down to the knees & show off the wearer's boxers & ass-crack.
What I'm wondering: does she want one of each color of long tank tops or is that just a sub-list of suggestions? (Notice, it's LONG tank tops she wants, not the kind that show one's belly button piercings and spare tire. For a modern woman, I find her refreshingly modest.)
ooohh! Leg warmers!! I still have mine from the 80's!
If I found a pair of jeans that fit, I'd buy two.
Flargy, nice to see you. Thanks for the walk down memorylane, you pretentious asswhole. xx
If you actually took the time to go back to http://www.foundmagazine.com/comments/1381
and read through the comments, raise your hand!
*raises hand*
You silly 2007 people. It was a "very unique" conversation. Thanks for sharing.
@Sarah: My hand is raised. So worth it.
@Flargy: The Road was simply the best. I love Corman McCarthy's writing. It's very unique.
@Libraian: I love the curly y in library too! I use this in my writing when I'm feeling happy.
@Greenblue: My niece has a sleeve for her iPod that looks like a sock.
@Sammy Davis, Jr: I wish I saved mine. I loved them so much. Can't believe they're back in style.
@Highplains drifter: My daughter's name is Devon, spelled with an o. People tend to spell her name with an i or pronounce it De-VON. Yuck and yuck. I love how some of you referred to this Found with the proper (in my mind anyway)Devon rather than Devin.
@ Flargy: Oops, of course I meant Cormac not Corman. I usually type better than that! But I've been up all night...
winter winter winter..tank top. but least the writer is getting a coat too. no scarf though brrr
Yeah, that Flargy.. he might be a pretentious asswhole, but he's totally unique and I wuvv him.
(I really wonder who in estrus was, and if she's still around. I think I might have a pretty good guess...)
Huh. I think I vaguely remember that conversation.
Sarah, my hand is raised... It's SO worth it to go back and read a LOT of the comments! The recipes shared! The links to interesting artists and musicians..! I love reading the old comments.
I guess she doesn't need a yellow tank.
