We Will Meet Again... March 14, 2004 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Well, Sadly, Jordan, you wouldn't be able to do that, because whoever took this print used FAR too much paint... so you can't see the whorls of the toe prints, just the hills and valleys of the paint.
when I first saw this.. I was amazed. It could easily be one of my kid's foot prints, as we do this every year around my kids' birthdays.. And a footprint coulda made it from Berkeley to San Francisco... I love the color.
This strikes me as sad. Like it should be a mother's birthday present or something. Not found near a college campus.
I do this with my step-sons. "Mom" distroyed everything from birth to 6-7 yrs...when my husband got them both. I do it once a year...and measure height four times a year. We've got almost four years, from 4'6 to 6'2'....and crazy fridge art! Yea!
ShellinOz, you sound like a GOOD StepMom.. Keep it up!!!
Would tracing someone else's unknown to you minor child by his/her footprints constitute stalking behaviour? Check local legislation before embarking on this project--you don't want to end up having to sign the dangerous predator registry.
baby Yves Klein?
Smurf Tracks.
I think that piece is missing from the Andy Warhol gallery!
losing this is sad.
Honestly, this child has some messed up looking feet, don't they?
That looks like my favorite Crayola color, cornflower blue.
The picture is posted upside down. It's a silhouette portrait of a shmoo.
Looks like kindergarten art, that should be hung on the fridge. Mom or Dad would've loved to have seen this piece of ARTWORK! They could of put in their kid's BABY BOOK.
I adore pieces of paper with paint on them. Reminds me of when I was in kinder and my son as well!
There is one very sad mom out there somewhere. She may not even know that this footprint exists, but she would miss it if she knew. We love this stuff!
In preparation for the renovation of our kitchen, my husband tore out the door jamb, upon which i had recorded my children's height, from about age 2, to age 10. I never told him how much that hurt, because i knew he'd say i was over reacting. Am I, because there are times when i lose sight of what's normal.
(not that i expect some of you know what's normal... lol)
Mona, I feared the same with my door jam being painted over. So we had a talk.
And no, you would not be overreacting. I'm still sad about my firstborn’s ultra sound video tape that was stolen in a house burglary.
ShellinOz, did I read that right? Your step-son is around 11 yrs old and is 6'2"? Wow! Ya'll grow 'um big in Kansas. I bet that's one monster footprint on the 'fridge; must cover half the freezer door.
I taught preschool for the past three years and we made so much hand and foot print "art". It is the cutest! My favorite was always the footprint ghost.
Pepper, i answered your questions, from the other day, about girth and so forth. lol
Thanks for your feedback. I do appreciate it. You're a peach.
Motherhood is all about loss. Every time the child passes from one stage to another, it's a loss. When they grow out of their first little booties, it's a loss. You can save the booties but it doesn't bring the baby back. When we painted over the height marks in our daughter's room, I took a photo of them first. Mona, I hope you love your new kitchen. I want a new kitchen.
awwww i was given a t-shirt & paint to make a handprint shirt for my kids....i really need to do it before they get any bigger *sniff* they need to stop growing up =o(
this reminds me of a shirt/shorts outfit my gram made for my mom when we were younger. me & my brothers put handprints on a shirt (i think she ended up with a boy print on each boob...lol) & she she had us do our feet on the shorts. considering that my brothers are all younger than me (by 7 years min.) it looked funny with their little feet and then my (comparatively huge) foot...lol
When we moved from our first house, we took the jam the kids measurements with us.
Oh my, it’s a rare sighting of a “pedal locomativa” phasmid. Often thought mythical, the PL phasmid is well protected from detection by its resemblance to the commonplace imprint of another species foot. They are lonely creatures, destined to wander the land searching for their one true mate. I do hope this one will be returned to the wild.
That's the nastiest looking hang nail I have ever seen.
My first thought was Sasquach. Then on my way to work I heard on the radio that there has been another sighting of him in South Carolina. Weird, huh. Authorties told the man it was probably a bear with mange.
Awwww! This reminds me of a Mothers Day present my girls gave me with a little poem. :) So sad this is being deprived of a loving parent to treasure it :(
My Handprints
Sometimes I might upset you
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
on furniture and walls.
But everyday I grow a bit
And soon I'll be so tall
That all those little fingerprints
Will be so hard to recall.
So here's a special handprint
Just so that you can say
This is how my fingers looked
When I placed them here today
this reminds me of making fake baby feet on the school bus windows with your fist.
hey Becky, i bet our friends in the warmer climates know nothing of that kind of fun...I kind of forgot about doing that.
My brother snuck into the bathroom while I was taking a shower, made little baby footprints going up the foggy mirror, moved the ceiling panel over a bit then told me I might want to watch out for a Satanic baby he just saw go in. At 8 years old, this is something that is quite plausible.
A satanic baby?? :0 Scary!! Sounds like something my bro would have done Turbo lol
I've never seen snow.
Turbo, your bother's a riot. I'm going to do that to my own kids.
This reminds me of the hang ten stickers you could pull of your slurpy when you went to 7-11.
The army of evil villain ninjas in The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's first series were called the 'Foot Soliders', their logo looked a bit like this.
boring find.
Ha Freon! Not quite that big. They are 14 and 15 now. And thanks, Wish! I've got a pretty good gig.:)
I love foot/hand prints like this. I think it should be done more often. Same with finger painting.
Chrome, that's a good idea. When I have kids, I might make my kids do that.
Smurf Feet! Ha! (but the foot looks fine, Sean)
UtahChick - That is the exact poem my Mom put on the page with the hand/foot prints for my sister and I!
And Mona, at least some of us in the warmer climes do know how to make baby feet with the side of your fist on frosty bus windows. We get a lot of snow in the mountains. I can't speak for Pepper though.
UtahChick: My mom has that same poem from me and my brothers!
Norma Jean, my brother is a prick. He's a riot if you like being shot at and/or knocked out.
Sean, I know you didn't do it on purpose but I really do enjoy the term "foot soliders". For you squishy-footed purple people.
mona - that was my favorite thing. that or when it would get so cold that the windows would have "jack frost" on the inside. i'd always carve my name into it. nowadays the youngins call that tagging.
Turbo, I have a prick brother too (police officer to boot). I feel your pain.
Mona, who knew there could be a whole book on Salt.
WHO DIDN'T
Imposter.
I thought Salt was dead.
I, TOO, AM SHOCKED THAT I HAVE TAKEN TWO MINUTES OUT OF MY EXTRAORDINARILY DEMANDING SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE TO CHECK UP ON FOUND MAGAZINE DOT COM'S INTERNET COMMUNITY
Sounds like the real Salt to me.
ShillinOz, Whew! Glad to hear there was more than 4 years between cute little munchkin and future basketball star. ;o)
Norma, I guess if you are a insufferable prick, law enforcement is the logical next step. My brother is also a cop. But in Oklahoma.
I miss you Salt!
I guess every mom has a story about footprints. When my first was born, his feet were inked for footprints in the hospital. We had them printed on baby announcements in the same color as the foot above.
When my second was newly walking, he toddled right through the wet cement of a newly poured driveway. His little footprints are still there. (He's 12 now and wears a mens size 11 1/2 shoe!)
Turbo, in defense of my (look in the dictionary and you'll see his dictionary under the word asshole) brother he became a better person after he went behind the desk, and even better when he retired. However, I’ll never forget his abuse or the abuse of my other (and favorite) brother’s. I think enforcement = asshole, it goes hand in hand (control). I know my Dad was a different person with bro than he was with me. I'm the youngest and a girl, as well. Go figure.
Forgive my mistakes, I had a 2 margaritta (can't even spell that) lunch.
Must not have been the real SALT, because they deleted it. Shame.
wow! pepper! ttly honored, dude. Your famous on FOUND! now, all we need is Flergy. :)
UtahChick, I can't read that poem without misting up. My daughter's little hand print from nursery school was captioned:
"When I am grown and far away
This little hand will with you stay."
Does anyone else see a possible name or word in the toe area or might my eyes be playing tricks ?On closer inspection I've decided it's nothing at all but will still post this to share my first glance and well really no good reason
Spam protection the opposite well it could be happy if i'm down than the opposte would be happy or well upbeat hmmm and if i'm downstairs it'd be up stairs hmmm both are uppy must be simply up
Sean, I liked your Smurf comment. And it's surprisingly difficult to get a good footprint from a kid. 8-)
Nightingale -- size 11 1/2 ? That's a race of giants you're breeding down there.
Bigfoot Our Brother! Buahahaha...
Amazed to see how many of you guys turn out to be doting mothers... aahhh... sweeeet.
)*j*(
Herve, what cha doing hangin in your garage? Smoking crack maybe?
I GUESS SOMEBODY AT FOUNDMAGAZINE DOT COM WAS ENJOYING MY VACATION FROM THE COMMUNITY. THEY SAW ME RETURN AND IT CAUSED SUCH AN ASTRONOMICAL EMOTIONAL UPROAR WITHIN THEM THAT THEY HAD TO DELETE MY COMMENTS IN A FURY
when my friends father died the hospital staff asked them if they wanted his handprint. of course they said yes. they now have a handprint made with this color blue paint. it may just be a post mortem footprint for a keepsake.
This is one of the most beautiful colors I've seen.
When I first saw this I thought it was a finger painting of a fat man playing the saxephone.
ROFL tiffany, you just made my entire day with that comment!
