Claude at Dusk
FOUND by Erin and Micah Wilson in Tulsa, Oklahoma
My husband and I found this photo in a library book. Written on the back is "Claude at Dusk."

Claude Mourns a Feline Friend

This struck me as suggesting an anthropomorphized funeral for a cat. It's got the flower arrangements and the mourner beside, well, more like astride, the kitty casket.

Freon in pjs, delighted to see Claude
Don't you love Claude's great moustache?

Reminds me of the time FreonSpouse alerted me that there was a new species in the bird feed box: a starving stray was munching away on the bird seed! Who ever heard of a cat eating milo?!? The rest of this story is the cat was captured, tags were read, owner called and cat returned.

I'd love to nuzzle heards with Claude; he looks like a comfy cat.

How is it cats manage to look graceful and poised even when they're just doing nothing? I think Claude has the air of a gentleman cat about him, especially considereing the white mustache.

What was that about cats once being worshipped as gods, and never quite forgetting it?

Freon, I'm totally digging Claude's mustache as well.

The title "Claude at Dusk" makes me think that the photographer is an artist, doing their best to find the right angle to capture Claude's true essence. They want the world to know that Claude is at his most majestic at dusk.

Casper in memory of Puff
Claude is beautiful and I love cats. And I love old houses with big porches on shady streets with historic trees, like the one in this photo, probably.

I think Claude is waiting under the porch light for the flying bugs, which he will scoop up in his paw, then shove them into his mouth for a tasty treat.

Cats are so interesting because each has his/her own peculiar habits. I once had a cat who ate flies in the manner described above. Another ate canteloupe, and another sucked on the silky edge of a blanket, kneading his paws and purring, like it was his mama's milk.

Our first cat, all white, ran to the bong every time my boyfriend fired it up, put his face in the smoke, then rushed to his food dish to chow down. His name was Puff. He was named before he developed the pot habit, inspired by Sally, Dick and Jane.

Puff got fat, obviously. He would go the rounds in the neighborhood, getting tidbits from all the neighbors. I put a note on his collar that said, "Please don't feed me. I'm on a diet." I actually got a phone call from a neighbor who said she couldn't keep him from coming through her cat door, and besides, her 4-year-old loved to feed him, so she wasn't going to stop.

We bought him diet cat food. He didn't like that, and stayed away from home for days at a time. Then we got a new kitten. That was the last straw. Puff moved out, just left our house off his "rounds." I suspect some neighbor was supplying his pot habit as well. Later we heard that he had moved into the fire station a block away, and the firemen had taken him in.

As long as we're sharing, I guess I'll throw mine in. I've got two cats, Boomer and Jazz. Boomer is about the size of a small lion and ten times fuzzier. He's orange and de-clawed and purrs louder then the trains that run by my house. No, he's not one of those weird smashed-faced cats. He's got class. Jazz is small, slim and black. He got really sick soon after we bought him and since then we believe he has some kind of brain damage. When he has to focus his vision, he tilts his head to one side. He's sadly adorable.

Claude looks like the Tramp, a cat that used to walk me home late at night. He would also walk with my friend when she walked her dogs, and would sometimes march right into her house and start eating the dogs' food. We assumed he did this to most people in our neighborhood, hence "the Tramp".

With photo finds in library books, I always wonder if the person who left the pic behind did so intentionally, so it could be Found.

Claude is very dapper, and reminds me a lot of my dearly departed kitty, Peeeeete. Pete had a little sock monkey, made out of a kid's sock, which he stalked as his prey, and carried around in his mouth. When he died, we buried Pete with that silly sock monkey.

Hello there, little kitty!
Actually, Claude doesn't look that little at all, but I seem to call all cats 'little kitty' or something along those lines.
Claude looks to be one of those choosy cats. Claude looks to be a shy, friendly cat who probably spend his days surveying the neighbourhood from his owner's front porch.
Beth, I completely agree that Claude has the air of a gentleman cat about him. It must be the moustache. Or the name- if his name were, say, Mikey, the gentleman air about him would not exist.
Claude at Dusk, indeed. It looks like a beautiful night.

Katherine in Philadelphia, PA., my favorite find ever. I live in the country, so a cat’s life span can be shorter than most. For instance, owls, coyotes, etc…. As a result my cat’s names are white cat, yellow cat, black cat, blah, blah blah…,you get it (and I don’t want to read a bunch of condemnation feedback from PETA folks/Herve) So anyway, someday when I feel the cat is permanent I’ll name it something interesting. Can't wait!
