Have a Great Show! December 20, 2006 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Is that a lake in the background?
it seems to be a suburban retention pond.
looks like the perfect fall afternoon, perhaps early spring.
i can remember swiping out grits of sand from between my toes after taking off my tennis shoes after a day spent playing in the sand... one day i will enjoy the outside, again.
Sweet! I think he's about to do a backflip.
Wheeeeeee!
(looks like fun, but I know it'd just make me feel woozy.)
This reminds me of "Inside Out Boy"! Anyone see those short cartoons on Nick back in the day?
YES!!!
that's my favorite pose.
:-))
Not only a gingerkid, but far too old for the baby swing. Weakening it so that some poor eight-month old is flung to their doom in the lake - sorry, 'suburban retention pond'.
Tsk, tsk.
i'm jealous!
I miss having a swing around. I grew up next to a park with swings from baby-safe swings to others strong enough for adults. I dream of having my own house with a yard and comissioning someone to build me a sturdy swing. The cool breeze and mindless thought patterns brought to life by the rhythm of swinging with minimum effort...bliss.
@apparently invisible: wossa "gingerkid"? You got something against redheads?
That ginger ain't no boy, I reckon.
(I love gingers)
What freedom! This picture made me feel so relaxed!
@ Ginger... I totally remember inside out boy! I would purposefully try to swing myself over the top of the set to see if it really worked... I never could get quite high enough.
That's an accident waiting to happen.
Ahhhhhh...The wind in your hair, on your face, and the butterflies in your tummy from Gramps pushing you, really, really high!!!
I miss my Gramps...
Wheeee! He looks like he's having such a great time!
Swinging in a hammock while reading a Carl Hiaasen book was one of my favorite parts of relaxing in Key West. *sigh*
Did anyone else ever jump out of the swing as a kid? That was my favorite thing to do. I tried to impress my little girl (thirty years later) the other day, and timed it wrong. I flew across the playground on my bum right in front of a whole group of adults standing around. They just looked at me. The kids all came up to see if I was all right. I was fine, only embarrassed. Failed to impress my kid.
I think he is mid-flip - trying to do a 360 on the swing. A second after this pic was snapped, he ended up face first in the sand.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I never post, always just lurk. But after seeing the weeeeeeeeeeeeee I had to chime in with this link.
Enjoy

This is a photo of Jamie Hyneman in his early years.
I've seen this band before. Is it At The Playground?
When I was little I could swing all day, now I just get motion sick.
And hey, apparently invisible, I get sooo much more attention as a gingerkid than I ever did with my natural blonde. Apparently gingerkids are not invisible.
LOOK! It's exactly this person, just at a different angle.

I don't know. This just looks fun.
The next picture is this kid with wood-chips all in his ass crack and a broken neck. Do not attempt.
Christina you're right. I wonder how many other places this kid had his picture taken in the bent over position.
I live to swing.
*sings* Joooy to the World....Joy to all the boys and girls....Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea..Jooy to you and me!"
@John, very good observation! 8D
@Lance, *giggle* I just bet you do!
@Smallbear, great song. I imagine you swinging back and forth kicking little bare bear feet.
I think there may be an atomic blast going on in the background of this pic, whitewashing everything with electromagnetic pulse and nasty radioactivity.
IT reminds me of the X Files movie.. but I don't remember why. I barely remember the movie, but that's all I can think of when I look at this picture.
@Julse: Yes! I remember doing that, and I distinctly remember the last time I did it. I guess I had developed a fear of heights over the years, and when I jumped off that swing in midair, it went into slow motion. You know that scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off where he jumps from the trampoline over the fence, and it seems to take him about five minutes to land? Well, that's exactly how it felt. Instead of the rush of adrenaline I should have experienced, I felt absolute fear for the first time. That was it for heights for me, and I never jumped off a swing again. I haven't thought about that in a very long time.
those swings were not designed to be stood upon.
(I love gingers, too)
