We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
this picture haunts me.
This doesn't haunt... I like the fact they are announcing the torch has been lit, like forbidden love wins out
The way that they are holding their bodies apart... it almost looks staged.
Or maybe people just used to be... a little purer at one time.

Well sure it's staged! Young people who wanted to celebrate the recreation area where they met and fell in love. And hey, UK: who said it was thrown out?
I think it looks like her father, and she's more than a little freaked out!

This picture reminds me of my grandmother and her stories of young love during WWII. :)

I love this. I feel like these two people were very much in love, and wanted to get a photograph to remember a place that they had an enjoyable day. As far as it looking staged, I feel like that adds a wholesomeness to it. There's nothing explicitly sexual about it, implying that they're actually in love. This made my day.

So romantic! The word torch on the sign and the gathering summer storm behind them - just poetic!
My parents fell in love, got married, then my Dad went off to WWII. When he returned from Europe, they went to New Orleans to spend some time alone. There are about a dozen pictures of them kissing from that trip! This picture reminds me so much of those. During that era, it was considered somewhat risqué to kiss in public, and OH MY! to make a picture kissing! A definite no-no...even though they were MARRIED! My Mom hid those pictures for years, because she was embarrassed they couldn't keep their hands off each other! I think this couple may have been in the same situation. Hope they shared the 40+ years of love my parents did!

What a lovely imagage! Pictures aren't even printed as beautiful as this anymore. Must have been taken in late spring with all those dand-y-lions at their feet!

Absolutely reminds me of my grandparents! They have pics of themselves like this, at campgrounds, parks, and fairs. My Grandma is now 91 and Grandpa is 96. I miss them!

The dandelions have all gone to seed. Summer's over; maybe they're saying goodbye.
Ooh, I don't think so. The seeds will soon be pinging off all over the place (after she's done a bit of fishing and asked him to 'refresh me').
There is a "Torch Park" in Warrenville, Illinois. Where did you find it, Cindy? It reminds me of a rondevous I had throughout the state of Montana... it was the happiest week of my life.
I wish times were still like this, where it was risqué to just kiss in public. Now everyone’s having sex before they even have their sweet 16. It’s sad.
