We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Awww...I hoped we'd have a sweet find today.
Thank you! <3
This is so sweet-sad. I love it.
I think I just found my "Shirt of the Day"
I'm not very good at these things, so before the cynics arrive, could someone tell me what it means? I don't get it.
The little crying TV dropped her heart down the stairs and it broke, and the other one put it back together for her. :)
So cute!
Cute Ingenious: Thanks! That's beautiful!
Hmm.
I love this!! But I must be a little more jaded and cynical than Cute Ingenious. Looks to me like little crying TV trusted the other TV with her heart, and it ended up being used, misused, abused and broken. Now tv2 just wants her to take it back.
This reminds me of the Find titled "Tough Bounce."
And someone definitely placed this to be Found.
just as jaded, I thought the tv at the bottom of the steps was accusing the tv at the top of being a heart breaker, and the accused was crying from guilt. i admit that i prefer the cute ingenious interpretation, but it was not my own.
also, i thought they were robots ... or possibly little tiny ned kelly's but i did not think televisions.
I thought "1960's astronauts" instead of TVs, but then I'm old, I remember the old "space" comedies.
I prefer the interpretation that the creature farther down the steps found the crying creature's heart that had been broken and then tossed by whoever made him cry; and is giving it back. It's still cracked but she fixed it as well as she could. This is the beginning of the healing process, knowing someone cares and shows a little empathy.
I love finds like this, we all see something different based on our own experiences.
I think bottom robot is a cardiologist who has just repaired top robot's cardiac unit and now wants to replant it, and top robot's tears are tears of joy
I see it has these two TV Heads are having relationship problems. One is showing the other a broken heart and the other is crying. Or perhaps they are of the same TV Head in two different positions. Regardless, It's pretty cool. Says a lot about relationships.
Maybe, Boxman put it there?
clearly these are Lego spacemen
i think the top tv is one of the comedy writers on strike, and the bottom one is his wife offering encouragement before he goes out to the picket lines with Jay Leno
This is the best find I've seen in a LONG time.
#1 is giving their heart away, I wonder why it's making #2 cry.....?
http://www.threadless.com/product/68/She_Doesnt_Eve
This sketch is the next frame for this Treadless shirt.
I gave you my heart, and you broke it. Here, take it back, I told you I didn't want it anyway and you wouldn't listen.
Cute ingenious, that's so funny! It could also be the other way around: The little crying TV dropped his heart down the stairs and it broke, and the other one put it back together for him. :)
Their hands look like little half-moons, making it all the more miraculous that they could fix a broken heart.
This reminds me of that Daft Punk song.. "Television.. rules the nation"...
#2 is crying because he can't get it out of his head.
#2 has just had his/her heart broken & #1 is offering his/her damaged but on-the-mend one to #2 to show them that someone cares, knows how they're feeling & that time heals.
I met my once best friend this way...she picked me up, dusted me off & kept me going when I just couldn't. We don't talk anymore..I don't really understand why. I miss her more than I've ever missed anyone.
Little Crying TV is saying, "No! I do not want that broken heart of yours! I want a brand new one!"
*weep weep*
Wendy, that's sad! I had the same experience with my old best friend. I couldn't figure out why we weren't best friends any more. But we were children. I found her again this summer after [won't-say-how-many-but-longer-ago-than-most-people years. We still have so much in common and we are friends again! It's great! I hope this happens to you, too.
Boxman drew this.
Turbo or Johnathan are going to comment pretty soon and then well find out that this is some well know graphic artist, and then they'll provide the website. Bet cha.
On another subject, sometimes the random finds at the bottom of the page have a strange connection. I noticed it this morning when these four came up all at once:
August 03, 2003
August 31, 2005
May 04, 2003
July 29, 2005
Reminds me of a really cool site, called Things Look Like Things. One of my new favorite sites.
http://tlltworld.blogspot.com/
For those who haven't seen Tough Bounce. Also read the comments.
http://www.foundmagazine.com/find/732
Wow, thanks Clover, beautiful website. Here's one for you, you’ve may have already heard of it. However, I don't think they have been updating it lately.
http://the-view-from-your-window.blogspot.com/
Very cool idea, Pepper, the window views. I hope they start adding to it again. Everything looks different, yet connected. Cool.
I don't really know what to make of this picture so I'll just wait for Radiohead to write a song about it.
Clover, go the the earlier post. There are some pretty cools ones to be seen.
Oh you cynical people. I thought the little spaceman was proposing to the other one (you know, offering his heart, broken though it was, fixed for her) and #2 was accepting, and crying for joy.
But then, I guess I just have marriange on the brain ;-)
aww this one is so sweet....
looks like a pon & zi cartoon
*hugs pon & zi*
One's comments are truly the window to one's soul.
awwww this one has made my day!! i'm definately gonna print this one out ;]
I think that tv head looks sad and dejected because the other tv head broke her heart, and now he is doing everything he can to fix it and make it right, but maybe it just isn't enough because she doesn't show any signs of happiness.
To me, it looks like the crying tv is crying for actually a good reason...because even though its broken...the other tv is giving the crying tv its whole heart...call me cheesey.lol
Okay, the fact that this was waving out there for someone to find irks me.
And the flower at the bottom of the step that was erased, that irks me, too.
Where's that guy who ultra-analyzes the find with photoshop? Can you tell us what the ghostly erased writing at the bottom says? Looks like the originator titled the find, but then erased it...
They had a big fight in which each TV had it's heart broken and they thought it was over. One TV found a way to fix the issue and mended the broken heart they share and arrives with the newly whole heart. Crying TV is overcome with emotion. They have a second chance, because they really always loved each other although their viewing habits are quite different.
I like Wendy's explanation.....the crying robot has his/her heart broken by someone, and the other kindly robot fixed the heart and is giving it back. Very sweet. To me they look like robot people.
I’m seeing the person on the left holding out the broken heart as it’s admission to breaking it and the person on the right understandably crying because of it. Also, these are definitely Lego spacemen.
Alas, poor weeping TV, it’s dreams of channeling PBS or the Independent Film Channel have been cut short by the family’s purchase of a GameBox and subscription to many sports channels. The other TV tries to console, but it’s family’s habit of watching only Lifetime movies has left it brokenhearted.
Thanks, Pepper. I knew it reminded me of another find, but I don't think I would have ever been able to dig it up since I forgot the title.
Aww.
Then again, maybe Crying TV's heart was broken by a callous computer monitor. Helping TV found it by the side of the road, knew immediately whose it was, and brought it back to Crying TV. Helping TV will probably get lucky, cuz Crying TV's on the rebound.
It's called Mohawk Windmill, but here's the LegoMan Find
http://foundmagazine.com/find/2726
They don't have antennae like these little TV people do.
the erased words are broken (something) heart. the (something) word looks like it starts with a V, but I can't make it out. There are also a couple of splattered tears that have been erased. (looked like they were providing the water for the erased flower to grow.)
to pepper, clover, thanks for the heads up on the great websites, i'm excited to have new places to surf every day;-))
to farmer, i think he's crying because of the outrageous price the broken heart cardiologist is charging to reinstall the heart. afterall, don't we all deserve a heart??
Television has no heart. This is a commercial for Rolaids, as Flargy suggested, or Viagra, which must be the erased V-word.
Seriously, I just want to see one of the finds that I sent in on here. I've sent some good ones, damnit! ;)
he says, "here, here, it's okay, I fixed it! I'm sorry."
she says, "it's too late."
Awwww that is soooo SWEET!! I love it!! Great find!
http://foundmagazine.com/find/220
http://foundmagazine.com/find/173
Oh. I do love this. It's more nuanced than the little cartoons of throwing rocks at boys or breaking girls' hearts. I appreciate that it has two sides.
Maybe I'm PMSing but this made me cry, in a good way. Like watching those sappy card commercials. I LOVE this find today! aaaawww
the bottom tv looks snobish and hes giving back the crying tvs heart to her after he broke he's done with it now
Oh! How cute!
Its so sweet! However it was meant I sure hope those two TV's can work things out between them. I think they have a good chance at happiness.
The best thing to do with a rifle, is to shoot at a TV. KABLAM! and then KABLOOOEEE!
And anyways TVs can't have broken hearts. They're just TVs.
TV #1 says to TV #2:
"Don't let those @ssholes get you down, I love you for who you are."
so many sad robot/tv people. So much cynicism. So sad.
comments are the windows to the soul.... i love that.
I LOVE this!
so cute makes me want to put it on a bag
"So in sincere said:
I gave you my heart, and you broke it. Here, take it back, I told you I didn't want it anyway and you wouldn't listen."
+1
this found got a big ol' "aww" out of me.
http://www.brokenheartrobot.com/
Norma Jean, I appreciate your faith in me!
Unfortunately I have no dazzling revelations or websites for you and not even anything much to say.
I think it's very touching the way this has sparked off so many sympathetic interpretations. Says more about the commenters than about the Find.
I think the one at the bottom is saying 'See what you did, you broke my heart' and the one at the top is sorry and weeping for shame.
I hope they will reconfigure their emotional circuits and get sparking together again soon.
I like to see the finds and comment in the morning, and then in the evening I come back and read all the comments ( and sometimes comment again ). Decibel, why did you repeat my comment and then put a +1? What does that mean?
I think girl robot crying broke the robot boy's heart and the boy gave her a second chance and she's crying tears of joy.
Anna Log and her PAL say a tearful, Congressionally-mandated, goodbye.
this ->http://the-view-from-your-window.blogspot.com/ reminds me of this ->http://community.livejournal.com/day_on_earth/
Kite, when I was pregnant I cried every time I saw a Hallmark commercial. It's the hormones, definitely. Weeping is fun and it feels good. I hate when people try to make me stop weeping.
Ling Hi, did I meet you in Salt? Pepper, what do you mean by the earlier post?
I doubt it, Clover. I'm on a sodium-free diet. High blood pressure, you know.
TV-head/robot/astronauts are breaking up. It's always so sad when a couple breaks up. Great find.
Crying is good, not everyday or anything. But once in awhile a good cry is so needed. Like letting all your negative energy out. And yes Clover I hate it when someone wants me to stop weeping, cause I feel like I haven't finished what I started.
Am I crazy? .........
(maybe no one should answer that)
aw, this is cute.
This adorable! It reminds me a lot of: http://www.threadless.com/product/68/She_Doesnt_Eve
I took it as the tv at the bottom of the steps offering the one at the top of the steps its OWN heart, even though it's broken. I prefer ingenious' interpretation, though!
This is possibly the most beautiful FOUND ever. It has made my day. Thank you, random-heart-broken-robot-artist-guy/girl.
Anatomically, Robots dont have hearts... Historically, It's been every robot's dream to be more human... Sadly, too many times, it has been proven that "being more human" does not guarantee happiness... but explaining that to a spkbi7 (child robot)is never enough... so pzoicl3(big brother robot)just have to prove it to his little sister by finding a human and ripping out his/her heart, and presenting it to her... It's a heartless way to get his point accross, but she got it in the end... She eventually took comfort in the fact that at least her emotion chip worked...(notice the drop of tear from her secretion duct)...
Love stinks. Yeah, Yeah.
http://foundmagazine.com/find/1080
I thought it was a robot/metallworker repairing the other one's heart. So cute... :D
And for FOUND bits of conversations, please visit thesoundbites.blogspot.com
...and tell your friends! Thanks!
I interpreted it as the bottom robot/TV is in love with the top robot/TV. He is offering to help, but all he can offer is his heart, which also has wear-and-tear. Beautiful!
My boyfriend and i got matching robot tattoos in may after almost two years together. we broke up a couple days before this was posted.
for some reason it's making me cry, but thank you.
I think that the little robot is offering his/her broken heart to the robot on top of the stairs...He/she is asking the other robot not to break it...
i prefer to think of it either as a proposal (offering the broken heart to be accepted and made whole again) or some other cute thing as many have said.
but i can see it being sad as well, if the bottom robot was showing how the top robot broke his heart, or if the bottom robot was giving the top robot's heart back, broken. how sad.
amanda, im sorry to hear about your breakup. its terrible. i had one recently too and i was just drawn to this find.
for some reason i really love this.
Holy Shit. Just when I think this city has gone to hell, I actually come across something that makes me proud to say I live here.
i would love this as a shirt.
How sweet!
People are more in love with their cell phones. They seem desperately lonely and need to make 1,000 calls per day or at least "check" 1,000 times-per-day to see if anyone called them. That's sad. I SAY KILL YOUR CELL PHONE! ! P.S. I've never owned one. That's doesn't make me better than you, just FREE. STOP BEING A CELL PHONE SLAVE!
Xby Xlor, Barry from Total Obscurity had a thing about "The Electronic Leash" a long while back. You'd have loved it.
But I tend to think that people are more in love with and enslaved by their computers.
