We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
the best part is that the kid said 'har! har!' do kids say that??
no, the best part is that circle is spelled wrong.
or... that the kid used 'your' improperly. what a dumb kid. j/k

WOW!! I grew up in NY and we used to write these same notes to boys we liked. Funny that kids in California do the same thing 20 years later!!

Oh man, I can't help coming back to this again and again.
I picture some cheesy little boy, struggling to be himself amidst an elementary-school conformist mentality, not yet aware that he's unlike other boys his age. Someday the truth will hit him at the worst possible moment, but I have faith that in the end he will be true to himself. He'll be one of the good ones, whose scarcity we women lament.
(I'm lucky I already got my good man.)
Funny that you assumed it was a boy who wrote the note. I remember sending one of these letters to a boy I liked in grade 5.

Wow Alli, how egocentric are you to think that you went to the only Ocean View Elementary in the whole USA? Just google it. There are 665,000 hits...all from your one elementary school, huh? There is even an Ocean View Elem. in Anchorage, Alaska. Dummy!
