We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Interesting potrait. I personally prefer an angle where the subject is looking up toward the camera.
A really interesting angle for the light -- from below. Is she standing on furniture? A ladder? Is she in fact repainting the walls to cover up evidence of a heinous crime?
It looks to me like one of those photos one takes when they love someone. Like just at a glance you snap the camera, hoping they didn't notice and that you caught them in just that perfect moment so that you'll always be able to remember just what they look like when they're not putting on a pose for a picture. Natural. The title of the book it was found in seems to support such a thought as well.
@Artist: Either that, or she was holding the camera on her lap and clicked the shutter accidentally. Which also happens.
At first glance I thought this was a still from a horror film or snuff movie. It's the red on her shirt and the weird angle, I thought it was a bloodied sheet from a slit throat.
What The Midget Saw
-or-
mommy, can i have a cookie?
Funny, that's not what I imagined Toni Morrison looked like.
those have to be false eyelashes
I'm pretty sure she's a giantess and this photo was taken by one of Culver City's frightened villagers.
How about that jaunty nautical motif on her blouse?
I'd bet she's also wearing blue hot pants with white trim. And cute little white canvas deck shoes.
Anyone else notice it looks like her earing is about to fall out?
So what's your guess? 1965? 1968?
She looks real MOD, and I'll bet if we could see her feet, she's sporting boots that were made for walkin'.
Hey, she served me a vanilla cone with cherry dip the other night at Dairy Queen!
For some reason this photo says flight attendant to me, I'm not sure why, maybe the lighting. I'm imagining, (as mentioned by Baby Basil) someone sitting on a plane with a camera in his or her lap taking this photo, perhaps by accident, perhaps not.
Last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a hook in it.
taken by her very short but loving boyfriend
The view from the floor.
I love the false eyelashes and pure 60'ness of it all.
makes you wonder how old it is, exactly.
No boogers.
I would pay money to learn how to put on false eyelashes like that. I have a whole makeup drawer full of the stuff and for the life of me can't get them on right. Alex and the Droogs, give me a hand!
A couple days back, the Urban Dictionary word of the day was "bats in the cave".. It's not Me in Wisconsin's inspection and subsequent findings report just reminded me of that. ha ha ho ho and hee hee.
@John- Her hairstyle is what screams late 60's-1970's stewardess. Like all those pretty ladies in "Catch Me if you Can", which is an awesome movie.
@Messygirl, Callie, and Mint Car -- I too LOVE the fake eyelashes. They were the first things that caught my eye.
re: false eyelashes
practice, practice, practice!
I like to use little dots of glue, very sparingly, along the lash line of my lid, not on the actual lashes. Please, be careful!!! Use very little. Practice applying little dots of glue to something else first, so you don't go squeezing a tube of glue onto your eyelid! Let the little dots dry maybe for 10 to 15 seconds, before trying to apply the lashes. Then I apply a final dot application of glue at the end point of the strip of lashes, to hold them down at the outer corner. Again, be sparing with the glue! I think less is more in this department.
Hope this helps someone out there!
Hmm... looks like Verne Troyer is on the set of Austin Powers trying to get some more action.
@ BRAIN PROBLEM- Thanks and thanks and thanks, again! Great tip!
I tend to think this woman looks more like a *Mary Tyler Moore* assistant or someone on the set...like the make-up chick, clothes picker, or even a movie/camera techie.
I'm definitely lovin' her 60's-70's long collars, and her cosmetic attributes. ie- lashes, hair, make-up, (where's her *blue* eye shadow?)clothes and jewellery.
I love this FIND!
@Brain Problem THANKS! I will try these tips. I love to be over the top at times in my dress and style, and you just don't get the look without big fake eyelashes! Now I may be able to pull of my best Audry Hepburn evah!
that's one of my favorite books,
so beautiful & horrible.
I've logged back in and expected someone to back me up with my macabre interpretation, but it's obviously just me. To my mind this looks like a detail of a poster for a dario argento film. oh well
First the hotpants then this... Monica why are you teasing me with these appearances on FOUND?!! When are you going to claim yourself in the "That's Me" section and put an end to this cat and mouse game?
Damn, Puckhog.. your former friend with benes was HOTT!!
effie, i thought the same thing.
I think she's gazing at this fellow:

Jan, give us some warning before sending us over to bodacious nostrils!
A hot oil treatment wouldn't be a bad idea.
I was in the comment of the week section once.
Agreed, Hannah. Wonderful book. So many layers of symbolism.
This is definitely Liz, the bagel serving girlfriend. (Matt's brother is obviously short and/or lopsided)
But the best part of today's finds are that they were found in two very amazing books!
But not as HOTT as you Chromey!
@Mint Car in Fred Falke's Turntable.. i did pay money to learn how to put on fake eyelashes. John Robert Powers modeling school. Like calculus, a skill that has no use whatsoever in real life.
I have hair secrets I learned from hair modeling, Clover......let's get together and share....secrets....
It looks like she is looking in the mirror at her butt and her b/f is laying on the bed and he just takes a picture of her.
Bet she's a Leo.
Turbo, i missed you. you always crack me up. great found too!
Chromey wouldn't be so HOTT if people didn't keep turning the damn dial up to 5! NO HIGHER than 3, you hear?
(&^$^%%*$# burnt poptart.)
Jonathan, what makes you bet she's a Leo?
Blonde mane, big eyes and strong jaw like other Leo ladies I have known.
I was sort of joking but it's a strange similarity.
Well, if she's a Leo, I hope she's a HAPPY LEO!
(I hear tell there might not be vert many of those around..?)
