So Are You a Seeker... December 30, 2001 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
mariwene...hee, hee.
Well, now we know where packing worms come from: they are produced by spiky-haired trolls who do "steriods" and carry uzis. It's the simple things in life you cherish.
I like the name June. and when I picture someone named June, that's definitely not what I imagine.
this find raises several questions for me.
1: June is a female name, so is that drawing supposed to be a girl? or a oddly named boy?
2: is this the artists opinion of someone they know?
3: or is this a very unflattering self portrait?
4: does anyone actually both take steroids AND smoke "mariwene"?
aren't the 2 kind of counteractive to their points?
steroids: taken to get amped up, build muscle, be tough and win.
"mariwene": smoked to get high, chill out and be very mellow. usually resulting in a lot of sitting around and eating tons junk food, generally not the way to win anything
If that's what June looks like, I wonder what July looks like... or, jeez, December.
This isn't June Cleaver before her make-up call, is it? What would the Beaver say?
Maybe it's just me, but this found strikes me as tragic. It was obviously drawn by a young person... it includes a gun, drugs, steroids and a gratuitous men's magazine. What has happened to our society when these are the things that have obviously had an impact on the young artist and many others like him or her? Say what you will about my living in the past, but if my child had drawn this it would have put up all sorts of red flags for me.
@Pastor Z; that's the reaction he was hoping for. Boys will be boys...
Actually the drawing of 'June' is rather good. Could definitely be a drooling spiky-haired goth girl (with a gun).
What kind of pen was that? Judging by the smudge at the bottom of the page it could be 'real' indian ink, which is quite inmpressive.
This looks like one of those "My Anti-Drug" ads.
Since this was found in Manila, I wonder if that really says, "June."
The spelling problems might be explained by being found in the Philippines.
As to content, I hope this a case of putting it down on paper releases it from the soul.
I can usually figure this stuff out, being a fairly bright fellow. But some of this is a mystery to me ... I must be very out of touch.
FHM? Chabu? HOA (or something like that?) I assume from the Pastor's comment that one of them has reference to a skin-rag, but I just don't get the part of the drawing at the bottom (the lipstick container-thing and the 9-volt batter-thing). The picture of June is awesome, however, in it's own way.
Help me out.
P.S. Coincidentally (NOT 'ironically') ... my Spam Protection Question is: What month comes before July?
(forgive the possessive "it's" ... IT'S still early)
This kid is smoking way too much mariwene to draw an even remotely coherent picture.
Pastor, I will say what I will about you living in the past. Let's meet up at the sock hop and talk about it.
It wold be nice iff people would stop postign comments with teh sole purpose of correcting spellling or punctuat'ion errors in their own pervious coments.
That lipstick container is a tiny little bit of hope that she carries with her wherever she goes.
Or it's a personal sized perfume spray bottle filled with some wretched scent called Hope.
(I'm hoping for the first. We all need just a little.)
Maybe that's just her June hairstyle. (his?) for July, it'll be a glamorous up-do.
Oh, and it looks to me as if the stuff in pencil is all drawn after the fact, and by someone entirely different. (and younger. and less skilled.)
So the artist might not have had "june" in mind at all.
the thing with FHH on it looks like a Bic lighter. (For Her Herb?)
The FHM is that skin rag "men's entertainment" magazine.
Is that thing on the bottom right a bic lighter?
I have no idea what that other thing is, Chabu, habu.. i dunno.
"Steriods" is my new favorite word.
I should be counted among those who "don't" get it.
Stereo-ids. That's how I would say it.
What is that coming out of June's mouth? Perhaps smoke rings from the mariwene....
I thought maybe the lipstick-looking thing and the battery-looking thing were supposed to be a bullet and bullet casing, or maybe a bomb. A bullet named HOPE. Now that's depressing.
What does FHM stand for? There's a belly button on the skirt of the girl on the cover of the magazine.
"inmpressive"
Thanks Jonathon, another Foundism for my collection.
Clover, FHM, I believe, stands for "for him magazine". Not very clever.
Has June been decapitated and his/her head sewn back on?
I thought FHM was "for horny men".
Apparently, there's a Korean dish called Chabu Chabu, which is basically a gigantic soup that you put thin slices of beef in.
(from someone's blog that popped up in a goooogle search. the Virgin-Traveler. dot blogspot. dot com. follow the tiny url.)

June also appears like he/she is holding something black in his/her left hand, along with being a Frankenstein with the whole "head sewn on" thing.
I think one kid drew this, then his buddy came alongside and drew the lighter parts and titled it "June"... as in "our plans in June, as soon as school is out."
it's a necklace
What intrigues me about this...thing...is the scribbled out letters at the bottom. I can almost make them out, but not quite. Aggravating and intriguing.
Okay, so I was just going to comment on what baby basil did: what's that crossed out at the bottom?
Also, this is clearly two different people's work. One in pen, and another in lighter pencil. What Melanie said.
...and I guess I'll just go ahead and echo anything anyone else says, too, while I'm at it.
I blew the picture up 400% or so, it seems the scratched out words at the bottom end in the word "university" so I'm thinking it's a notepad or stationary from a college...
i vouw nevver to possst aftur a poset i macke about aney speeling or grammatickal errurs that I may or maynt make, in the post of the furst poset, Flargmeister.

"June she'll change her tune
In restless walks she'll prowl the night"
@1funchickadee
Coming out of her mouth are "packing worms" or "packing peanuts" (we don't have the resolution to tell which).
@ mona lisa ... isn't that supposed to be
"may'nt"? Or "ma'ynt"?
your write, liberrian.
I've known at least two Filipino guys named June and one named August. I really liked the name August and considered giving my son that name.
I once knew a young man whose name was Augustus (the Third, no less!). He went by Auggie. (and dayumm he was cute!)
I like names for the month or for days of the week (like Sunday or Tuesday). Although, not all of these names would work. For Example, no one ever names their children September or March. Or Saturday.
I was gonna name my offspring Sam 'n Ella. Cuz i knew they'd be spoiled. August never even came to mind, tho thats their birth month. Of course, then i'd have to choose which one was August, and which one was something else. They were born on a wednesday, which, i guess would have been a good name... Dang. That would have been cool. One of them dressed up for halloween as Wednesday Addams, last year. I wonder if they would have hated me. I'll ask them.
Girls, if you read this, I'm changing your names, ok? You, that one, you're August. And the other one, you're Wednesday.
Really thought that the word on the top of this Find said dunce. June(Enuj) never popped into my mind.
Btw for those who enjoy my creative musings (Nightingale etc) and who missed them, check out Find #5952, Cheesecake and #5611,green man. Hope this doesn't sound to pathetic or self serving.:)
If so--well Nightingale does think I'm a whiner so....
Hi, Terrie! When my friend Linda got pregant for the first time her child was the 25th grandchild so finding a name for her son became a little challenging. She ended up calling him Augustus and everyone calls him Augie. Even since then I have loved the name!
When I saw this I didn't think of "june" as being the person's name. I thought of it as the month. Like a clue that the persona of the cartoon is depressed and is planning something with the weapons for the month of June. And since the drawing was found in a school cafeteria I would have been very worried about this instead of just hiding it away at home. But maybe that's just hindsight from personal experiences.
And for those of you who enjoy my clever musings, check them out too! I'll print a listing of them later. I know you love me.
I agree with pastor Z, this seems tragic to me. I see it as a self-portrait of someone who feels like they're spinning toward a blackhole of dispair. "To whoever gets it" says someone is sad and lonely.
Hehe, you said blackhole.
I say what? (what what)
I say ooh ooh oohwee.
I say aall right.
I say Love me Love me Love me.

I never had a dream that made sweet love to me..
Apparently, all of my clever musings are in my head. Read my mind.
all of my clever musings are discussed only with the voices in my head.
Sorry for being an needy pathetic Asswhole, just thought those who weren't around this past weekend would reading them. Guess I was wrong.
That should be would enjoy reading them.
'Chabu' or 'Syabu' is an illegal drug that's pretty popular (judging from its frequent appearances in reported drug busts) in Southeast Asia. It's a form of methamphetamine, I believe.
heh heh.. ha ha heh heh.. Ramon said "beat it."
