We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Happy Birthday, Flargy!!!
verrry interesting. Are Justin and Kathy still together? did they each know that the other had submitted this to Found?
And what the heck kind of Portals do they have at their school? time travel? interstellar? I must visit Abbotsford, BC! I must find that Portal!
wtf ... Flargy? Justin? Kathy? Portals? Is this another screwy deal where the find doesn't match the comments? Haven't we had this find before?
You know, I have this really bizarre feeling that I've already seen this one before.

Nope, assuming Deja is right, this is a case of double postng where the fault is with the Finders, not the space-time continuum.
For once.
Shoddy continuum.
See: http://www.foundmagazine.com/find/3084
Found by Justin (of Justin and Kathy fame) back on 23 April of this very year.
There were 58 or so comments back then. I just want to take this moment to repeat whatever it was I said then.
We have indeed had this find before. Rather recently.... It resulted in multitudes of people questioning the writer's intelligence.
The finder's description is different this time though. Last time, some of us questioned the age... wondering if it was written by a middle school or younger aged person. And why a younger aged person would be going to a dance. Others believed it to be written by a high schooler, either a not so smart one or a mentally disabled one.
Even though this is a repeat, I wanted to thank you all for your comments. I really needed the cheering up this morning!
But the spam protection is way too hard for this early in the morning!
YO, JASON! Please reach into your bag of foundness and post a NEW one for us. Surely there is something we haven't seen this year.
Poutpoutpout
Kathy's blurb is funny in light of the double-posting. If she always wondered what it was like to find an interesting Find, she should have just asked Justin.
Jason, WTF?
maybe justin and kathy arent together anymore, but each of them scanned and saved this find on their own computers, and sent it in.
Jason, i've sent you a couple of good finds, was the quality of the scan not good enough? Maybe i should send the originals in....
Sorry squire, I scratched the record...
Sorry squire, I scratched the record...
Sorry squire, I scratched the record...
Obviously a glitch in the portals.
Farmer: you always make me laugh. and this is the very first time i've had found deja vu.
oh, and when i first saw the title for this, it made me smile, because i thought of someone doing a dance for their friend on their birthday. i was wrong, it's much more boring, but cute idea, no? that would be an awesome awesome present.
ONE MORE THING. Freon, 'bag of foundness' is on my band names list now. thanks!
The "present" is him asking her to the dance.
<eye roll>
Total, DEJA'VU!!!
@ JASON, OWNER OF FOUND- I vote for YOU to put up MONAS' FINDS!!!!!!!!
I bet they're good ones!!
Jason, surely you guys must get thousands of FINDS sent in to you on a weekly basis??? Maybe even on a good day???
I do apologize if this was a glitch or if 2 different peeps sent in the same FIND, which to me, is pathetic because you guys have the archives list. You'd think one of Jason's employees would have caught this one...HMMM?
Hey, it's my birthday again! I guess I'll try not to be an * today.
Flargy - will you be celebrating your second 33rd birthday the same as the first?
...and this time can I have a pony ride?
Found in Found Search:
Do You Want to Go to the Dance with Me?
FOUND by Justin Hubert in Outsde of a high school
I always wanted to know what the gift was and whether it went over well. On the other side it says "please Read."
Alan, I didn't even know you were at my first 33rd birthday party! Well, as you now know, there will be LOTS of things to ride there. If you do decide on the pony, just promise me you won't go "pting" in its head. That makes ponies go both hog wild AND ape shit, and we just can't have that happen at the BPOE hall. We'd never get our deposit back.
After 29, repeat birthdays are a given.
Flargy, I promise to resist the urge to "pting" in the Elks hall.
If I start to feel a little weak - I'll hang out by the railroad tracks behind the building until the "ptinging" has subsided.
Can't wait - it's a Thursday night party!
Hey Flargy, I saw The Animal flip the calendar page.
(I hope my Gobal Warming find gets posted tomorrow.)
Goddammit, I hate duplicate finds. It taints the integrity of FOUND. Thousands of finds sent in every year and they commit this fraud! Shit, they even make up a new set of finders and a new scenario. WTF!
Can any of the finds be trusted?
Jason, James, Davy etc.... explain yourselves!
I find myself posting after pepper (well..sort of after, its 151 where i am, and i note his/her post is at 1143 am), but please, Paul, its just a coincidence.
I seem to recall that, previously, Jason, would respond to calls put out on the comment board. What's the deal, guys? Don't you read these anymore? have you got some automated program making the postings now? (of course, if he doesnt read them, then me posting this is irrelevant)
THanks, Holly, for your vote.
grrr. why do i always have to spell palindrome??????
I think this is a repeat. The overly-curly g's look rather familiar.
Mona's stalking me.
I really would hope that they don't have an automated program picking these out. If that's the case it's picking a different story and finder. Whatever, it's annoying. I know this is free entertainment, but I'm really beginning to question the validity of the finds now.
@errie-Is-So-Very in totally-unique-ville
"After 29, repeat birthdays are a given."
True, but only until your 29th birthday becomes 21, then you have to switch to celebrating anniverseries of your 39th birthday.
@Mona Lisa, this is the eve of the Friday of a holiday weekend in the U.S. Perhaps Jason et al. have stepped AFK to start the party early?
Freonz.. thanks, for remembering my canadianness. They're probably drunk. We just had a holiday weekend, and the weather was crappy. Hope you guys have it better than we did.
Happy Memorial Day, you 'mericans. (legal and illegal immigrants included)
@Mona Lisa, and happy belated Victoria Day to you!
Like the lady said, Happy Memorial Day come Monday. Say thank you to a vet and a prayer for those that gave all for freedom.
<crickets chirping>
<picking nose>
Jason, seriously, are we in a time warp? I think the clock is off by 1 hour and a few minutes. I'm posting this at 4:40 pm central time. What does the time stamp say?
I mean 54 minutes slow?

Rats! Foiled Again! So do a search on "american apparel models" and YOU try to figure out which ones are the spoofs and which are for real.
Todays' FIND should be tied to the railroad tracks.
@Night in gale is the "Animal Flip" anything like
flipping someone the "bird"?
I'm pissed! I've sent in great Finds too, and we get a repeat? And Jason, has anybody sent in an object lately? There was a shoe a long time ago. I have an object to send.
Tang
If I were Jason, James, Davy or anyone else affiliated with Foundmagazine, I'd have stopped responding to the chatter in the peanut gallery by now, too.
When was the last time anyone said something like, "HEY, FOUND GUYS (and Gals) THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!! This site is highly entertaining. I'm here just about every single day, and if there's a snafu or oddity now and then, it just adds to the randomness and hilarity of it all." (for the record, I'm saying it now. Thanks for everything!)
As for those of you complaining specifically about Jason- do you even read the Found Blogs? Do you have any idea how many irons these guys have in the fire? They're busy people, with not only multiple projects going on, but families and lives and stuff! (well, I may be making assumptions, but I hope so, anyway.)
"Screws fall out all the time. The world is an imperfect place."
@John Bender What you said is brillant! I agree 100%. Thought about posting something along those lines but all I could come up with was "To all the Whiners:Stop whining!!", you said it so much better than I.
I personally don't need you Bender or smallbear to lecture me about whining. And it was very recently that I told Jason and the other guys they rock, what with the mix tape site.So why don't you shut up your judgenmental selves and let people vent if they wanna. You're whining about whiners.
You go Tang. If Found is selling books with the assumption that their finds are "found" and wants to be taken seriously (James Fey). Their finds should be authentic. A double post I could forgive, but separate finders, locations, and stories that reeks. Yea they got all kinds of irons in the fire, but they are making money (assuming we buy the book, I haven't) on the people's gullibility.
Bite me John in the library.
Bite me Smallbear.
Whew! I'm glad y'all thought it was familiar too -- and Librarian (hm.. ML?) and John actually found the original Found. !)
@ Freonz! WTF?
Re: “@Mona Lisa, ….. Friday of a holiday weekend in the U.S. Perhaps Jason … AFK to start the party early?”
Please help! I’m ‘culturally deprived, and don’t know the term “AFK”
@ Pepper in (wherever)
Re your post: “Goddammit, I hate duplicate finds. It taints the integrity of FOUND. Thousands of finds sent in every year and they commit this fraud! Shit, they even make up a new set of finders and a new scenario. WTF! Can any of the finds be trusted?”
-- I think that’s why the Wise Guys once said: “Put not your faith in webmasters!”
Or maybe..
Ever hear of a “pop quiz”? An “are you really watching” quiz??
Here's MY theory RE: Double-Submittal, and Double-Posts..
Maybe Justin & Kathy found this together. Perhaps one or both of them had submitted "Founds" before, and hadn't yet "won the posting lottery" (like some others of us.
-- SO, to maximize their chances of being posted, they EACH sent the Find to Found, at separate times, each with a different caption under their own name.
-- Maybe they had a bet? "Mine is better!! I bet mine gets posted, not yours!!" "No way!!" "Waay!!"
What do they win when one wins the bet? A dancing present? The REAL bet should be --
"I bet MY story gets mean sarcastic posts criticizing the author, and yours gets quizzical posts, talking about space-time continuum-u-um-um and portals."
Hey Founders and founders of Found!! Let’s post it again!! We can have a Caption Contest!! I wanna name it “Birthday choise”!! Or – “Birthday - giveing a choise”
I'm happy that this "found" found our way back to us because it came with an extra morsel of information that makes me smile: it comes from my neighbouring city of Abby! Also, the finder's typo of "the portals" is supposed to be "the portables," in case anyone was wondering.
I think this Find should be the official birthday card of Found hounds everywhere! (But whose birthday is it today?)
@Cubby: not even remotely. That one was just for Flargy, but he's too old now to understand. It must be hell going from 33 to 66 in 29 days...can't remember friends' names or who was even at the party....
AFK means away from keyboard.
There are portals by schools? I didn't know there was a portal by my school. I'm going to look for them tomorrow. I'm excited to see what's beyond the portals. Or at least what may be near the portals. I'm sure that anywhere there are portals there must be cool finds.
Flargy, if it's your birthday today, Happy Birthday! May the portals open for you today, revealing wonderful birthday treasures!
*Ignoring all whiny and unpleasant posters*
@Night in gale I was just being silly, that's all.
Why is everyone taking this stuff so seriously today? Am I the only one not in a horrible mood around here?
I've sent in 5 or 6 finds and haven't seen ONE yet. I'm disappointed b/c mine were all interesting, not just one-word scribbles or confiscated from little sisters playing in the next room.
Now I've read the comments that I missed while I was speaking French today. I did think this looked familiar, but the portals grabbed me. The portals make it better this time. Oh, the portals are really portables? That's disappointing.
Happy Birthday again anyway, Flargy.
@Christina Don't feel so bad earlier this year I sent in a Secret to Post Secret and I haven't seen it posted yet.
Cubby, I was being silly, too. May all your finds be found and all your secrets be posted.
8-)
Frustrating when people are so quick to judge and look at the negative...
And not take the time to read previous comments before posting their own.
It was said numerous times that the finders of this find (today's Kathy and previously Justin) were bf/gf.... This isn't necessarily FOUND's fault for posting the same find twice. It was obviously submitted twice.
MAYBE the guys at FOUND wanted to give us something to talk about. MAYBE they thought it was interesting that TWO people submitted the same find and thought we would too. But instead it leads to a bunch (or maybe just one or two) people bashing them for being lazy (a computer posting the finds for them), imperfect (GASP! No way!), or just uncaring....
And then when somebody (John Bender with a concurrence from Smallbear) tries to stick up for them and say "Hey, maybe we should say good job instead of always being Negative Nellies...." they get verbally attacked!
Thank goodness this is all through technology and not in bar or a place where fisticuffs could be possible...
Goodness gracious.
John Bender, I love that movie.
it's time for the next day's find, but it's not here.
I think Found changed time zones.
The person who wrote that is probably in college.
If only he/she would lose the "Pepper in your" part of his/her name, the rest of it would suit him/her just fine.
Yeah Reading, I see what you mean about bashing people for posting their opinion. You gave a great example.
Heavens to Betsy.
@ Moron Spot....
I suspect that Found site has been mistakenly bookmarked as "ContentiousResentments.com" lol
"here in canada, we don't have time zones. We have Tim zones. and we're all on double double time"
(not my line, i stole that from another commenter in Bookninja)
@reading i want fisticuffs, tho. Its been such a long time since there was fisticuffs. fisticuffs would settle things so much quicker sigh. i miss fisticuffs.
(god thats a wonderful word. I'm going to use it three times at work today).
What ARE fisticuffs?
I wish fisticuffs were as fun as they sound.
