We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
ooh, I can hear those gritted teeth and the forced smile!
Okay, it looks like a girl's writing to me. So...Zelda? Zara? Zoe? Zena? Zahara? Zenobia?
They have Hawaiian fast food in Kansas? What--"Poi to Go?" I can't imagine what they would serve, KS not being over-endowed with fresh ocean fish. Taro root, and what else.
hott???!
Beware those fast food men -- they can't be trusted, least of all on hot dates.
Especially if they're Hawaiian.
Zeta?
Zebulon? Zachary? Zebedee?
Left in a men's room? Probably left by a male?
First date with Patrick?
I bet Z if for Zach, and I'll bet he's jealous.
Hawaiian?
Those ampersands and giving me the willies. What are they modeled on anyway? Little hearts on a stick? Probably how "Z" wants to impale Patrick's still throbbing heart on a stick, roast it slowly over hott coals on the beach, rolled in shredded cocoanut with a little pineapple and mango on the side, one of those umbrella drinks in hand ... but I digress.
Mmm, Patrick's heart sounds tasty, L in W.
Z. probably has a thing for the recipient of this note. If only he wasn't gay...
I also don't think Patrick is cute.
I mean what is he, a starfish or a big pink Klan Poohbah? And the way his bright ideas are always getting Sponge Bob into trouble... no, nott hott... nott hott at all.
Also: Does the fact that this note was found in the MEN'S bathroom suggest that the receiver betrayed Z by sharing the note with Patrick?
I bet the two of them had a good ole laugh over their crabby patties!
(& I don't think he's cute. I'm working on that) What does that MEAN? That she's in the process of giving Patrick an extreme makeover? Or that she's adjusting her focus and perception, so that she can more readily accept her BFF's new Friend?
Can a hot date truly be HOTT if the person you're dating is.. NOTT?
The ampersands look like kissy lips emerging from behind a wall. And yeah. cringeworthy.
I don't think Patrick is cute. I am working on that.
What does that mean? Why would Z put that in a note? I think Z is self-centered and (although thinks she is being a good friend), it really is all about her, all the time.
I may be in the minority, but I like the handwriting--a little affectatious, maybe, but the printing looks very neat and orderly. I know, I'm a nerd.
Z thinks Patrick is very hott. Z just says he is not so she/he can lust over Patrick without getting in trouble:
"Were you just looking at Patrick's ass?"
"No! Are you kidding? I don't think he's cute!"
"But you said you were working on it. I think you're trying just a bit too hard."
"Yeah, but I don't think it's working."
Cut. Print.
Why does Dave - or, sorry, dave - feel lucky? Was he on the date with Patrick?
Z., a girl, is writing to her gay friend about his new fling, Patrick. Being a girl, Z., feels completely comfortable checking Patrick out, but she doesn't think he's cute. Since Z. and her friend like to spend time checking out dudes and comparing notes, she just doesn't get what her friend sees in this Patrick fellow!
"Look harder, Z.," her friend tells her. "Patrick's got the most beautiful eyes, once you get past that hairy mole on his cheek." Z., ever-loyal to her friend, tries to see past Patrick's imperfections, so she can truly appreciate what her friend refers to as "Patrick's hottness." Even though she can't see it yet, she's still working on it.
"I'm happy for you!"
How fake can one get? *Z* is trying to sound so auspicious...
I, too, think this was written by a chick.
I can't get over that someone picked this up off the men's room floor. Eeeuuw!
Did Z's friend have this note in his pocket when he went on his "hott" date with Patrick and visited the men's room?
Patrick is the kid in the white American Apparel hoodie in today's other Find;
Patrick's date is the kid behind him;
"Z" is the one who took the picture.
For other details see my needlessly-long explanation just posted on the Starved Rock find.
@Curious: Dave feels lucky for finding a worthy Find! Way to go Dave!
I never find hardly anything good, 'cept that $10 bill one time, and I kept it instead of sending it to Foundmagazine, but I've spent way more than that ON Found Magazines, so there.
I thought of "& I don't think he's cute. I'm working on that." as meaning she(/he/it?) used to lust after said Patrick and is "working on" not liking him, since he's obviously chosen her friend over her.
The "&" part makes it seem defensive to me, coming right after "I'm happy for you".
I can't believe your good luck, either: Hawaiian fast food in KS! I didn't think KS was so exotic!
Holly: "trying to sound so auspicious"?
I'm trying to think what that means, or what word you might have meant instead of "auspicious," but I got nothin'. Help me out?
I'd like to see how the note writer makes those ampersands: one stroke doubling back on itself, or two separate strokes?
Z,
My hott date was FABULOUS.
By the way, I don't give a shit if you think Patrick is good looking or not..he lights my fire and he thinks you are a slut.
@ HUH?- The author is trying to sound...like h/she means them well. Trying to wish them *happiness*..
What...not the right word?
I believe auspicious means *Promise of good, happiness and fortunate*>?
'auspicious' sounds good to me.
And mlm's 'affectatious' is even better!
I dated a Patrick, I look back on it now and he wasn't cute either.
i'm surprised this note wasn't all crumpled up. if Z would have written the note to me, i would have seen right through his supposed well wishes and wadded it up and told him to shove it up his ass!
Maybe the bit in brackets is actually a response to something in the note i'm guessing Z got telling them about the date with patrick?
Like 'do you think that lad i set you up on for that blind date is cute?'...'i dont think he's cute. I'm working on that.'
or maybe the 'i'm working on that' is something different, say maybe the recipient of the note asked Z if they'd done something like told someone something and that was the sudden last minute 'oh no they'll realise i'm obsessed with patrick put something else in the note so it doesnt seem as bad' comment?
@ JONATHAN TOO- Thanks, hun...did I use the correct word properly? Does *what I posted* make sense to you and everyone else? Or should I have used a different word? I know what *auspicious* means, and in the sentence I wrote....it makes perfect sense to JONATHAN and I...
Help me out, FOUND-HOUNDS, if I'm incorrect.
Much appreciated!
How exactly do you "work on" thinking someone is cute? *MUST...THINK...HE'S...CUTE* And all of a sudden you'll think he's cute?
@Holly: since you asked for advice, no, it doesn't make sense to me, but it would be, "it makes perfect sense to Jonathan and me. .." rather than "Jonathan and I. . ."
guh, what's 28x15? 420 if you get the same spam thingy.
@ WHAT'S UP- Thank-you for your reply. I'm sorry for deluding ya'll with my incorrect usage of the word, *auspicious*
So then, what does the sentence mean now? The way I wrote it?--->
"I'm happy for you!"
How fake can one get? *Z* is trying to sound so auspicious...
Thanks, also for the correction of, "Jonathan and I"...that's how I've been taught and after 40 years...I'm still trying to get it right!!!
Well, Holly, you *would* say, "Jonathan and I are going to the store," since you and Jonathan are the subjects of the sentence. However, you wouldn't say, "It makes sense to I," (taking Jonathan out of the picture for a moment for clarity)when you are the object of the sentence. See?
@ NOT REALLY- YES! I understand the difference...thank-you,*Wise One*!
When others and I are the 'subjects' of a sentence...it's proper grammar to say, "My sisters' and I are going to our Family Reunion."
But, when me and others are the 'objects' of a sentence, it's proper grammar to say, "The Family Reunion was alot of fun for me!"
YES? or NO?
I thank-you, once again because 'it' really was frustrating for me when writing in my Journal and or letters to family/friends.
Also, posting here...I now know I sometimes was NOT properly using certain words and grammar together...I feel like an idiot. :o(
I'm now 38, but, still feel like I'm stagnating due to me not continuing my quest for knowledge and understanding. I'm an avid reader of all kinds of novels and, topics.
My Mom always read to my siblings and I while growing up...and we all loved and still love to read now. My vocab is and has broadened immensely, though!
And that's a fantastic thing!
Sorry for yammering on...
Take care and I'll chalk today up as *Lesson #1 in Grammar!*
Haha. I know a Padraic, and he was cute. He graduated already. Yes, I'm kind of young. We were great friends...
until I fell in love with him...
and he didn't have those feelings for me.
