Like He Is Nearing Sainthood
FOUND by Jessie Altstatt in Santa Barbara, California
I found this while digging through a stack of cast-off old books and papers that a neighboring non-profit had thrown in our trashcan (they hold a yearly used book sale and discard what they feel is worthless).

wow, bizarre. imagine whoever cleaned the author's car expected him to fall all over himself with gratitude? the car must have been really dirty for its cleaning to warrant beatification! :)

This actually sounds like an attempt at poetry to me. I like the wording and the repeating of the "sainthood" phrase.

"In a tone that intimated nearing sainthood" is such an oddly elegant phrase to be written on a piece of scrap paper. For whom was it written? Why did the observation bear repeating? She should learn that humility and free car washes rarely go hand in hand. Anyone who cleaned my car without charge is already a saint as far as I'm concerned. Ingrate!

Hey! If you didn't find this in a recycling bin, would you mind telling them they should at least recycle those books? Thanks!

Wow! Those stories about the Catholic Church making it waaaay easier to be canonized are true! All you have to do now is repeatedly wash cars for free -- it's a miracle!!@!1!
