I agree that the messier handwriting appears to be a response, but if that's the case, wouldn't it be true that that person is also trapped in a room with someone using a flossing device? Why can't that person call work herself?

UNLESS...person one's comment is in joking reference to person two, and therefore person two's mouth is full, thus preventing her from calling work for herself. She's gonna be late, 'cause she's still got 12 teeth to go.
