...cousin Steve?
Wow, just when your fear of human sized monkeys and clowns couldn't get any worse!!
wow, that is one fugly ape!
(I know I should call in sick any day that face looks back at me in the mirror)
So THAT's what George W. B's gonna do after his retirement... the resemblance is stunning!
My first thought was Ben Stiller, but the hair could be Seth Green.
80 years after The Wizard of Oz was made, the special effects are still awesome. Toto could be a relative of Uno. "Uno and Toto" means "One and all." Weird.
Looks like a drunken flying monkey. I do not know if that makes it more or less threatening.
ROFL @ Dr. Jones!!
What a shocker for first thing in the AM! Started my day with snorting, choking laughter! I too was traumatised by the monkeys in the Wizard of Oz movie...saw it again a yr or two back and I *still* don't think I could class it as a "kid's movie." Maybe today's kids are tougher, if they are raised playing things like Hellboy and Silent Hill...
Today is my silver wedding anniversary (25 yrs). We are off to celebrate.
Happy Anniversary from Dorothy land!
May there be no flying monkeys...smug bastard that they are...in you future!
My first thought was Ben Stiller as well! There is an uncanny resemblence.
Holy sh*t, that's creepy.
Can you say PEDOPHILE???
Congrats, Basil!
WHOA! Are we or are they back on the Planet of the Flying Apes???
SHITE!
@ BABY BASIL- HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY!! And many moreeee!!!
That is very creepy. "why so serious?"
Aaaah! This made me jump
This little gal (or guy ... you're not gonna talk ME into doing the inspection to determine which it is) has been through the usual flying monkey 12-step program and has made the decision to become a productive member of society. Note the air of confidence. Note the wide smile. Note the cap set at a jaunty angle. What an inspiration to struggling simians everywhere!
that's right up there with my clown phobia
All I had to see was the top of that ugly little cap and I knew what the costume was. Laura in in a chair nailed it.
Flying monkeys rock! Some day I hope to have my own flock!
Get your stinking paws off my little dog - yooou damn dirty ape!
Kyra Sedgewick?? She really needs to wax that chest.
Heehee! First thing in the morning..can hardly stop laughing!
I think that monkey is leering at someone.
Something about the face made me think "what you lookin at, Willis?"
I actually grew up in the town where he wrote the wizard of oz : p
&& yeah we have yellow bricked sidewalks.
So you can imagine how intense this made me laugh.
& miss home a little.
: )
Freddie Mercury and David Johansen had a baby!
This completely creeps me out!!!!
@ baby basil, happy anniversary!
i am digging this monkey's sense of style. i like to match my hair to my outfit as well.
Now in Technicolor!
I feel like I should be smoking pot and trying to sync up Pink Floyd.
Looks like something hand built by Rob Cockerham.
This is the photo from a 'Wanted Criminal' poster on the wall of the Post Office.
What happened was that the flying monkey came into town and rented a clown costume. After disguising himself, he made his way over to the birthday party claiming to be the entertainment. He talked everyone into a quick game of "Reverse Blind Man's Bluff" [that's the version where only one person is NOT blindfolded]. Once everyone had their blindfolds on, this sneaky-flying-monkey-monkey-disguised-as-a-clown scooped up his kipnap victim: UNO the puppy!
Unfurling his wings, the monkey/clown took off for the witch's castle so that they could post a photo of the terrified canine on the Internet and demand their ransom (see copy of photo on earlier Found Magazine posting).
Luckily, one of the other partygoers had snapped this photo of the nefarious kidnapping monkey earlier on and the FBI could use it on the wanted poster.
A practice run for the famous Toto dognapping? A slip-up on the part of the usually careful Flying Monkey Gang? Or simply a result of the obsessively misplaced affections of one of UNO's many jilted lovers? Maybe a combination of all three? You decide. All I can say is that we're not in Kansas any more.
This is the cover of the new Kimya Dawson cd
(boohya!!!)
Gah! This brought back many memories of being terrified while watching "The Wizard of Oz"! The monkeys ALWAYS scared me, along with the scene where the witch's feet roll up under the house. Ooooh, I hope I don't have nightmares tonight! (Oh we oh, we-oh, oh!)
Congrats Baby Basil, and I'm sooo sorry, Mona.
This one made me go "YIKES".
That's it.. just "YIKES".
as if i needed more nightmare fuel...
Yo-lee-oh! Yoh-ho!
Surrender Kimya.
Happy Anniversary!! Baby Basil.
Hey Jolene Summer! When I was a kid, I sponsored one of the yellow bricks in your town! (Canastota, rigtht?)
That monkey was supposed to be looking for clothes that were blown 10 miles down the road by the tornado (F-5, dude) when this picture was taken.
You just KNOW he looks so smug 'cause he has an iPod, drinks, a phone, a mallet and keys stashed in his chest hair. I hope he steps in a Puddle of Doom and ruins his beautiful day.
Kimya loves you Monkey.
@basil: Congrats on 25 years!
@ Mom Interrupted ... Thanks for that!
Ahh
actually chittenango
: )
but close enough
haha
What did Henry Youngman think when he first saw this picture?
Take my flying monkey, please!
Happy happy anniverary Baby Basil and wife!
Check out "Monkee Astronaut" with 109 comments. Those were the days.

Happy Anni, Baby Basil. (I always thought B.B. was the wife....)
@Nightingale You may be right. Wrote my comment without thinking about it first.
I LOVE Monkee Astronaut! (much better flying monkey than anything from the W of O) happy anniversary, Baby Basil! 25 years is most impressive!
I know you do, Chrome! I was surprised you didn't link us up earlier!
Curious George?
This find is great and I have enjoyed all the comments today. Lolita, Curious George looks more than a little curious to me!
(I probably would have, but I didn't check in until LATE today.)
Thank y'all...we had a nice decadent lunch. Ate and drank a bit too much. If anyone out there has access to "Viña Aljibe" wines, I can heartily recommend their red or rosé. (Are there, or are there not, 2 c's in "recommend"? We got spam protection but no spellcheck on Found.)Couldn't imagine why it went to my head so until I realised they no longer sell half-bottles at that restaurant, only 3/4s. Ah. Yes. That would account for needing my spouse to do the dessert run for me. LOL
A beautiful cold, crisp fall day...good company, good food, good wine. I'm up for another 25!
Woo Hoo! Go Baby Basil!
onto the Find: Every time I look at this picture, for some reason it reminds me of Lucille Ball. Something in that crafty gleam in the eye and the bright red lips.
I dig that manly chest hair.
I never understood why kids got so scared of the flying monkeys. They're just flying monkeys. The part that always creeped me out was when the ruby slippers came off the dead witch's feet and then her feet curled up and slid underneath the house. Now that was ugly.
I don't know about him, honey. He just looks like he's up to no good.
I know a guy who occasionally has hair EXACTLY that color.
