I don't know about North Carolina, but where I come from 'sober' and 'drum circle' aren't words usually found in the same sentence.

You mean there are actually sober people in drum circles sometimes? In light of this revelation, I have given up all hope in humanity.

i'm having fun imagining the awkward scenarios that prompted this petition for a "sober" drum circle.

Twilight in the sky
Beamer,

I would like a unicorn for christmas that can do my dishes. If you know where I could get one, please call. I'm not going to leave my number, because if you can find what I'm looking for, you'll also be able to find my number.

All kidding aside, if you look at this from the perspective of a Native American, it might be a very important factor. Alcoholism is a rampant dis-ease among Native Americans, particularly those on Reservations. Drumming and therefore Drum Circles are also very important to most of the Native Americans I know. The very real benefits include, but are not limited to spiritual, mental, emotional, and psychological healing.

The comments are clever as always, but this is probably a very serious quest for Beamer. I hope s/he found a suitable group. (where are you, Wicasu Wakan?)

gosh...saw this on found a while ago and peeps are still picking on this man! drum circles are about finding an intentional and collective heart/ spirit beat. Don't you remember hearing a beat and tapping your foot? Well the drum circle is about intentional beating. Yeah...sometimes, most times, there are drunks there, but it also depends on the kind of drum circle you go to. Obiously, this man is looking for one w/out drunks. Maybe he is in recovery, maybe he just likes a sober crowd...come on guys! Shit...I am going to get drunk and go to a fucking drum circle!
