Whoever wrote that is an idiot. Anyway, who says you can't believe in both?
The handwriting looks so juvenile. I'm picturing a middle-school or junior-high age child of a militant conservative Christian, someone not likely to embrace new ideas. The fact that someone took the time to write this out and put it on your car strikes me as a little fanatic. Yes, God made us, but He made us with the capability of thinking for ourselvs.

I like the fact that the word "thinks" is smudged out for the grammatically correct "thought", as if pointing out the fact that Darwin is no longer in existance (indubitably the result of his being a freak). Touche'.
I actually picture an adult writing this in a fit of anger, some of the most poorly-written notes I've ever seen in windshield wipers were the works of flustered adults.
There's some irony in the fact that "Jesus" is misspelled the second time.
I very badly wish for someone to leave a note exactly like this on my car.
I actualy broke up with my ex because she didn't believe in evolution. 50 years ago it was ok to argue, it was still a theory. but evolution is scientific fact and law and has been for some time now. not believing in evolution is equal to not believing in gravity; just because you cant see it working, doesnt mean its not real, just to complex for simple people. im suprised there arent people out there saying that gravity is actualy jesus holding you down so you dont fly away. some people are truly pathetic and will never understand.
Have a look at this-
www.searchforthetruth.org
I saw this man (Bruce Malone) speak a while back. Very intriguing stuff.
Matt: Your not so wrong with your comment! There are scientists trying to prove that gravity is nonsense and we are fixed on earth by something they call "spacepressure". I really like this theory.... *smile*
Matt, I'm glad you broke up with your girlfriend over this. haha... arguing in favour of creation seems absolutely ridiculous to me, especially in light of the hundreds of scientific facts proving evolution. However, the writing, spelling and grammar clearly illustrate what kind of person is making this argument.
Evolution is a theory. STILL. I hate to break that to some of you folks who have somewhere been misinformed. It is NOT fact. It is taught as theory to this day.
The fact is that "theory" in the scientific sense has a completely different meaning than "theory" in the everyday sense. We use the word colloquially to mean something that is a possible solution to a problem, but not necessarily proven. As a scientific term it is much more concrete and positive than that. Read Stephen Jay Gould.
God is a theory, too.
I'm going to go ahead and say that I am highly offended that someone thinks a 6-9th grader wrote this note. Theres no way the writer could be over 8. But, I'm sure the mother is your common suberbian soccer mom, who pounds "Jesus is the only answer!" into her kid's heads every waking moment.
I'm rather surprised that it wasn't found here in the Bible Belt. Which is a great place to live with your souther baptist parents when you don't share the same belifs they do, by the way.
god is a theory too, but with way weaker scientific grounds than evolution.
Actually, the theory of natural selection and the resulting evolution of organisms is in fact still a theory. A previous post was correct in stating the word theory is different when used in a scientific setting vs. being used in a conversational setting. In science a theory is an idea that has stood the test of time, and others testing of that idea. Evolution has large amounts of data (both biological as well as geological) to support it. The vast majority of the scientific community supports the theory of evolution. Remember, science however is self correcting. At one point, scientists (or the learned people of that time) thought the earth was the center of the universe. Once we realized differently, we self corrected. I personally support the theory of evolution whole heartedly. What I support more is teaching young minds that natural selection/evolution are not ideas to be afraid of, and that they don't exclude God. Unfortunately this young mind (literally or figuratively) hasn't had that kind of education. *sigh* Though, yeah the spelling is ironic.....
That evolution happened is a fact. There are parts of the explanation as to how it happened that are theories in the scientific sense. So much has been discovered since Darwin. The DNA evidence alone is conclusive.
And, yes, there is no gravity - the Earth sucks. (I taught middle school, and my students say that almost everything sucks.)
Quick question - who's Jusus?
Let me throw this into the mix: I'm a Christian AND I believe in evolutionary theory. Why must we be narrow minded and think it's either one or the other?
To Anna: Because your believes contradict each other.
Google: Kent Hovind
I wonder if anyone's world view has ever been changed by a rude note shoved uder a windshield wiper....
BTW, I am a Christian and have no problem with Evolutionary theory...Just becuase some nut job who was indicted for tax fraud says they contradict doesn't mean he speaks for all of us...
Did God create man? Or did man create God?
Why are you all so full of stereotypes?
To Anna, I agree.
To Jesse... No they don’t
You can believe in God and also understand and believe in evolution, its called Creationism.
The thought that God or whatever 'higher being' you believe in controlled the whole process. (in a very simple definition)
Where God and science contradict is the whole Big Bang idea.. and that is just crazy but I wont go there it is a whole other note under a windshield.
I like to support the theory of "creationevolutionism". I believe wholeheartedly in evolution and have since I first heard of it. However, I also believe in God, or a Higher Power of some kind. Scientists don't know how the matter that created the universe/life was itself created, who's to say that 'God' didn't make those first tiny specks and say "Go!"? Granted, that opens up a whole 'nother kettle of fish about where did 'God' come from, but I'm not going into that right now. Point is, I think Anna is right; it's possible to believe in both. And I think "Jusus" will forgive me for being a believer of evolution. Just a theory :D.
Faith is just that: faith. It is not based on fact or evidence. It is a belief not held rationally...on account of this fact I don't see why evolution and religion should stand in stark contradiction.
Apart from that faith is a very organic thing in itself: it means something different for each person who holds it. Fundamentalists alone are incapable of interpreting the text in a way that would make it incompatible with the world around us. Read some Hume.
You guys should save your soapboxes for a more appropriate forum.
What I will never understand is the intense need some people have to prove that everyone who doesn't share their beliefs is not only wrong, but stupid for believing something else. This counts for Dennis up there, who flaunts not one but two parodies of a symbol some people hold very dear, but also for the kid who wrote this note. The note was intended to insult, and nothing else.
yeah, what's up with everyone trying to get everyone else to think exactly like they do? it's annoying, and it's NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. focus your energy on something else.
hey, you don't have to believe every word of the bible is concrete truth to be a "christian." Most churches would say that you do, but non-denominational Christianity would be more along the lines of believing that this guy, "Jusus" was correct in his connection of divinity to unconditional love for every other human being. "Christians," in the very basic sense of the word, could very well believe that life evolved, perhaps even that consciousness is evolving, and the next step is toward a truly loving, christ-like society. Heaven on earth. Amen.
All I have to say to the note is:
AMEN!!
This just cracks me up. It's not very Christian of the author is it? Forgive Darwin for Chrissakes...oops, sorry.
Whoever wrote this, spelled JESUS wrong
This note is obviously fake.
a fun game might be to a write a bunch of fake notes, drop them in places where cyberbohemiam poseurs congregate and see how long it takes to see them show up here ...
The day I read this i watched a movie about Darwin and evolution. weird.
All hail Jusus!
Darwin is fake. GIVE YOUR SOUL TO SATAN. Or is that SOTON. Hmmm/
wasn't the whole problem with darwin due to the great chain of being? and wasn't the great chanin of being incorrect?
people are so silly. and i love it.
This is one of the biggest and longest arguments ever in existence. Everyone has a different opinion on it. Just because you believe something, doesn't mean everyone else is wrong and you MUST show them the light(pardon that, please). So leave well enough alone.
Oh, and one more thing to you Christians out there: If Jesus will forgive you your sins, and love all God's children, can't he forgive a supporter of Darwin for believing in what he was raised to believe? And you know, that can be turned around the other way too.
So here's some advice: Don't push your ideas on other people unless they ask, or unless they're pushing theirs on yours!
It's that damn simple!
Yeah, that's right. Jusus rules. I love jusus. Juices juicy jus. I'm gonna go have me some jusus right now.
P.S.: Darwin was absolutely bril
Yet another argument against "Christian Education." Let's skip Sunday School this week and think about the possibility that belief in God doesn't preclude the existence of evolution and the hard physical evidence for fossil history.
I saw a bumper sticker today that asked,
"Who Would Jesus Bomb?"
I hope everyone, Christian or otherwise, would agree that the answer is "no one."
Remember to love your neighbor as yourself today, including fellow commenters on Found. :-)
I just watched "Jesus Camp" last night at a local cinema and have been thinking about how scary it is to see and hear children being so narrow-minded and blind to the world. I'm disturbed by this find and by people who are fanatical and violent about their beliefs.
Let the religious explosion begin!
I like this kid's passion. It would probably be helpful for them to apply to their schoolwork as well.
I'm too apathetic to get involved otherwise. Faith cannot have facts. That would go against the definition of the word. Science cannot have faith. The two do not intermingle.
There is what we see.
There is what we believe.
and then
There is what we know.
This kid puts more weight on what they believe. Dennis puts more weight on what he sees.
Not to get into an anti-religion tirade here, but the fact is that the age of the writer is inconsequential. A child has the same amount of supporting evidence in this case as an adult. At the end of the day the result of all anti-evolutionary sentiment is the same: "Evidence shmevidence! You're wrong because my faith/clergy/holy book says so."
A shame, really.
why are christians always called the narrow minded ones? Some of those above who believe in evolution are pretty narrow minded too. we all are to some extent.
Can't we just let everybody have their own belief system?
There's a lot about evolution that is speculative.
Creation? Evolution? They both take faith.
Zianna up there is my lesbian lover...
And I don't really believe in anything..SO THERE!!
Amen to the note, and Amen to the people that are saying WHY ""Preach"" your beleifs here? This is supposed to to be an escape from reality... have fun, look at all the treasures. Wether you are for or against HIM everyone has to face judgement day. Whatever you are stating, is PREACHING...
He's right, you know: Darwin was in fact "just some freak that thought he was smart." Just ask anyone and they'll tell you: Jusus Christ RULES! Fuck yeah!
Wow, someone leaves a note on a windshield and all hell breaks loose in this post. It's amazing how much controversy something like a poorly written note can create when the message behind it is sooooooo loaded. Creationists, theists, atheists, evolutionists! Wow, there are so many dividing lines that it makes me giddy! None of these seem to be mutually exclusive anymore either. Even our groups such as the above have, dare I say, "evolved". We now have hybrid groups, which support ideas from groups they pick and choose, but refuse to identify themselves with. I'm waiting for the day when we get the super group, which will call itself the ChristoAthiest Alliance. They will then rally millions to their cause to believe in a philosophy, which dictates you not to believe in it because it's all completely bunk, but supposed to be that way because a god of nothingness may or may not have designed/haphazardly created it that way. I mean even today the Christians have a difficult time getting along with one another. You couldn't even unify the theists today because they'd tear each other to shreds, and they are all supposed to be loving the same god of sorts.
I think perhaps this person would be better off focusing a bit of their zeal on furthering education. Jusus will still love you if you read a book that isn't the bible once in a while.
Jesus good
Darwin also good
Jesus nice, Jesus verry nice
Darwin smart, Darwin verry smart
I agree with Isa. :)
I'd just like to point out that Darwin never really went into human evolution and stick to the animals, as he didn't want to get in trouble with the Church. So is this person mad about the animals?
silly girl. said:
hey, you don't have to believe every word of the bible is concrete truth to be a "christian."
...Yes, acutally, that is the only way to be a Christian. Let me break it down for you, silly(quite accurate name, too). Christian literally translates into "little Christ."
1)His Dad wrote the Book.
2)He's the "main character," so to speak.
3)I think he believes His book
You are quite silly, silly girl.
Although I am a Christian, If I wasn't and found this in my windshield, I most certainly wouldn't change beliefs.
:)
I AGREE WITH ZIANNA'S THEORY.
It's all about who's family you're raised in.
If it's an atheist family, you're most likely going to be atheist.
And vice versa.
Thanksssss.
i've always thought about putting the two fish on my car...mostly i don't because i'm not as brave in life as i am in my head (who wants to alienate their grandmother on purpose?).
however, i am glad to see that even if the two symbols would not have made me as original as i imagined, that other people are out there having the same thought.
Jesus was created out of fear.
(I believe) all christians live your lives in fear, the fear that "He" has instilled in you that you will be damned to hell and punished for you sins if you do not live your life by "the rules" If there is only one life, how is it that a innocent baby die from a disease but a abusive dirty old pheodophile can live 80 years? Where is the justice in that?
Jesus is real! He is awesome. He is God. I do not believe in evolution. If people evolved from apes, then why have we stayed the same for hundreds of years? We haven't become super perfect beings, have we? Maybe we are a little taller now, but that is because of the food we eat. Some scientists have found rocks and claimed that they are billions of years old. But helium has been found in those rocks, which would be gone after billions of years. Also, there is a little more salt in the ocean each year. If the Earth had existed for billions or millions of years, all the oceans would be salt. They would be more salt than water. There are so many facts that can prove that the Bible is true and evolution is not.
Look, Zianna, Jesus CAN and WILL forgive people who believe Darwin is right--but only if they WANT to be forgivin! He's not going to just dismiss it as nothing, because it's something. And another thing, I am told to share my faith. That's what the Bible says and I believe the Bible is true from cover to cover. No lies. No mistakes. No tall tales. It's the truth.
i am about to get stabed bdfkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk JUSUS HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder how old the personwho wrote this is, the hanwriting looks like it belongs to a third grader.
all i want to ask is..
WTFWJD???
Anybody else find it funny that the kid said "Jesus IS our god." ? Haha.
I was going to say the same thing Paul. Where are you Jusus? I need you . I pray to you Jusus every night and I get no response JUSUS. I AM GETTING VERY MAD JUSUS. Oh wait maybe its my fault. Lets try this again JESUS.
I do believe in micro evolution. The evidence points to eyeless fish in caves and many other facts.
If the median aptitude for spelling--much less writing a cohesive sentence--is evidenced by some of these comments, I'm afraid that evolution is in retrograde. I'd bet that Jesus is very, very angry at some people for not doing their homework!
rebecca - sorry, PEOPLE wrote the Bible, not God. He didn't fax it down from Heaven. And the part you're takling about is the New Testament, not the entire book. Religion is just like the comments to this FOUND - people take what they want: from the note, argument or book, and leave the rest. Silly.
. . . . wh are you people getting so worked up about one badly-written note? this note, or any post in here is going to change no one's mind about anything, even (especially) my post is a work of futility, because at the end of the day, the ony person you can convince is yourself. I admire this person for the fact that theyre so outspoken about their beliefs, though, they are no substitute for a good education. And, i have to say, logic is no basis for explaining religion, people either believe what you say or not, trying to use scientific evidence in religion always is a bad idea, because much of that is always personal beliefs anyway, much like the person who wrote this note. trying to convince this person about darwin is a futile attempt in futility, it isnt going to happen. much like this flame war going on here.
praise jusus.
if i found this i would probably pee my pants with laughter.
everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Let the kid go, at least something gave him/her the strength to write that, real or not.
I believe in Jusus!!
I do believe it was Einstein who said the more he learned about the universe and science the harder it was for him not to believe in a higher power.
The only thing as annoying as a self-righteous Christian is a self-righteous atheist.
I agree with you bird. :)
I admit I found this funny, but pnly because it reminded me of a 'Friends' episode in which Phoebe says she doesn't believe in evolution and Ross explodes!
Ross: Okay, Pheebs. See how I'm making these little toys move? OPPOSABLE THUMBS. Without evolution, how do YOU explain opposable thumbs?
Phoebe: Maybe the overlords needed them to steer their spacecrafts.
HAHAHAHAHA
I'm a christian.
and although i'm sure this person's intentions were great....i don't reccomend they become a lawyer or engage in any sort of debate.
just the fact that someone who writes with such little intelligence believes that makes it look bad.
even though I believe in creation too haha.
...although another way of looking at it is an evolutionist wrote this trying to look like a "stupid creationist" to further his point that the THEORY of evolution is true.
i wouldnt put it past them if the latter is true.
evolutionists are good with fabricating things to make them look like fact.
hah.
:]
hmmm, what would jusus do?
Barwin!
Jesus loves you! Jose does, too.
I Warship Satin!
(oh, and guys, if Jusus doesn't step in and save you, it's because you're just not worthy. You're not one of the chosen ones.
i personally don't beleive in theory of god, that's why i edit all my money to say "in science we trust"
Here's a little food for thought. I believe that by believing in God, I also am also permitted to believe in science as well. I believe that God was the greatest scientist that ever lived. First, I find it easy to believe that God created the universe. He may have done it by initiating the “Big Bang”. Secondly, is it so hard to believe that God couldn’t have created all creatures on the Earth, and made them in such a way that they evolve, adapt, and change to conform to their environment? The first five books of the Bible were written by Moses thousands of years ago. What level of scientific education do you think he had at the time? He was writing the Earth’s story according to the limited vocabulary of his day. What would you do if God showed you all things, but you didn’t even have the words to describe them? So who’s to say that God didn’t create us from the dust, (the dust being matter)? It’s also been said that the world was formed in 6 days. What is a day in the life of God? We were also the last things that God created according to the Bible. Who’s to say that the evolutionary process wasn’t the process that He used to get us exactly where He wants us to be today (modern human beings)? At what point did He breathe into our nostrils “the breath of life”, or put spirits into our bodies? Who’s to say that God doesn’t follow scientific laws? Today there are so many questions about why we’re here, where we came from, and where we’re going, that it appears that man-kind really knows very little indeed. I think that Socrates summed it up best when he said “I only know that I know nothing”.
word, brother.
:D
Jusus rules!
And Josh in Fort Bragg... all I can say is that I wish more of the world thought like you.
