Money Grabbers... December 23, 2005 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
This photo has chutzpah! What a little ham-bone she is. I love this shot; it screams "I am fabulous and don't you know it".
I had this swimsuit when I was a little girl.
I had this swimsuit, too!
something about this pic really frightens me. like the little girl could eat my soul whenever she wants to... and she knows it.
Poaching is illegal.
i think she is really a 40 year old midget cover girl, out on a look-see.
I had that swimsuit too!!! i loved it
I definitly thought this was a midget, too
My beautiful black daughter had this suit when she was 6. One of the neighborhood moms nicknamed her the African Princess.
I'm jealous. I *wish* I had that swimsuit!
YAY!! i had the swimsuit too! i had to look at it really closely just to make sure it wasn't me, because i used to dress up like that ALL the time.
She is my hero.
Classic. She reminds me of a mini Jewish grandmother. I expect her, at any moment, to start kvetching about why I have not found a nice young man to settle down with. A doctor from the city, maybe? You know, there are such nice Jewish boys there.
I want that bathing suit, bad.
This is a fabulous one. Love the comments as much as the pic. Wonder if I could find that suit in a size 2x? We have very similar shapes and she looks divine.
More than fabulous, she is the personification of my Inner Child.
Seriously.
Brassy, bold, loudly garbed, crazy-ass hair, and a stance that could melt butter at 50 paces. AND all the while a child.
I LOVE this snap! ;^D
This picture creeps me out too much for words. I think it's her face, with the glasses and the hair, and is that lipstick? Scary stuff.
anyone ever see this old movie called "The Neon Ceiling" played in Detroit at about 2am on some late nite movie program...
This is the girl in the movie before her movie debut, I am sure of IT!!!
Wow, I see I'm not original. After seeing this picture I felt like I just had to proclaim that I had had that swimsuit and that it was my favorite as well... I even did a mental check to see if I remembered ever playing around with a wig that fabulous, but I'm pretty sure I didn't.
I would shoot someone for that bathing suit. I envy all of you who had that once upon a time :(
I whish I could get this in poster-size. This is definitely something I would put on the poster-wall I'm planning to have in my new house.
This reminds me of the protagonist, Liza Normal, from Cintra Wilson's wonderful and hilarious book "Colors Insulting to Nature." :)
I envy you all. My whole life would be different if I had one of those swimsuits.
I immediatedly recognized the tiger print as one of my favorite articles of clothing growing up... I was only allowed to wear it in the summertime... "Swimsuits are for the summer" -My mother... So I turned it into a shirt and wore it all the time!!!! Thank you all for making my day.
Purrfect. I love this picture.
I don't know...as a former Oklahoman, I can personally attest to some of the large hairstyles of the young and wild!
Her face looks so old and wrinkly!!! it must be a midget! but the rest of her body looks so young like a little girls! her face is very creepy!
I have a kitty in my tummy too.
I wish I had that bathing suit now!
I wanted to comment that I owned that bathing suit when i was little, and that it was my absolute favorite!! I was so happy to see how many people before me had done the same! We were some stylish little girls! Thanks to my Mom for some great taste!
This looks like an ad in a magazine or on a billboard or something. I love it! It's the start of a modeling career for this little girl.
I swear that is my sister! she screamed until she got to wear that suit the first time she went to the Tulsa Zoo!
Her face looks like she's a burn victim!
I think she's trying to pucker up for a kiss.
To me she is pursing her lips in an "I'm barely enduring you taking this photo" attitude. God, it would be great blown up on a poster wall!
I love how this fabulous bathing suit (I am one of the sorry gals who did NOT have it) is finally getting its moment in the sun (except for all the moments it had in the actual sun)! Who knew?????? When was it popular - early 80s?
Did anyone notice that you can see at least 4 people in the rear vision mirror crowded around to take that picture? Sometimes the mysteries on this site are so tantalizing cos chances are we will never know the story behind the pic!
I used this picture as my MySpace profile picture when I first opened my account. TRUE STORY!
She actually reminds me of a cross between Whoopi Goldberg and Bette Midler. Scary, very scary.....
The last time I wore my bathing suit like this was one of the most humiliating days of my childhood... But it was my favorite until then.
might be a little person..
I only wish I was this cool! And I've got serious swim suit envy of all you luckies who had this when they were young. This is definitely the BEST photo I've seen on this site, bar none.
It is just tragic what Patsy did to poor Jon Benet for those pagents.
I also had this swimsuit in pink If I remember correctly there was a sparkly aspect maybe rhinestones. I wore it until the butt was translucent.
Love her facial expression. It's definitely a kid by the feet,
This is one of the funnier pictures on found. Reminds me of Mrs. Garrett on the Facts of Life for some reason.
My first impression, before I read the comments, was that it was a cross-dressed little boy.
I have no idea why I thought that...
Maybe because the glasses are so masculine?
I wonder if it is natural and/or normal to be this scared of a found picture? I kid you not, I am going to have nightmares for a few weeks, and I can't even understand why!
if cut off at the neck she would look like a freaky ass grandma.but from the neck down she looks like an innocent child. but she does freak me out i don't forget her.
This was taken by a photographer but I can't remember the name, I believe it's a female.
Diane Arbus.
Why don't they make bathing suits like this for grownups? I look like hell in a bathing suit anyway. I may as well have fun.
That bathing suit is the shit.
im jealous u guys had that when u were little.
this scares me in the same way I'm scared of clowns...it's just not right
It's Jocelyne Wildenstein
Be afraid...be very afraid!
Absolutely fantastic! LOVE this... great photo.
Dear gawd.
That little grew up to be my dad.
what i wouldn't give for a high resolution copy of that photo.
I'm wearing that swimsuit right now!!!
56 commenst and oly one of you saw that this is a boy? I mean really. The ruffle's hiding the tiny little package, but nothing can hide the future therapy for this drag queen in training? The pic was undoubtedly followed by a dance number to "It's Raining Men".
I have to assume from the edges around the face etc that the kid has on a mask/hair combo. Another reason to avoid Oklahoma.
I had to e-mail this link to my mom and ask her if I had that suit, because it looked eerily familiar. She wrote back and confirmed that I did have such a suit when I was 3 yrs old. That was in the mid-70s. Awesome!
Good heaven's! that reminds me of my wife's anut. Could it be her...aa..er...him? Ummmm. Ok now Im really scared!
tom, your comment made my day. meheheh
I swear i thought I was looking at my grandmother's minature counterpart..she wore curly red wigs just like that. I never saw her real hair..thanks for the great memories
I had this swimsuit too! Mine was hot pink, I think I may have lived in it during the summer. My mom finally had to take it away from me because, well, I was maturing and it was too small!
dear gawd! is right on, lass. looks like she can saunter out of the photo, and attach herself to my juglar and suck out my life juices, all the while me too frightened to move...mistress of chucky?
Last time I checked tigers had stripes not spots. Just saying.
Am I the only one who noticed that there is something wrong with her face? Like maybe she's a burn victime, thus the wig. Look at how big her nostrils are . . . and she might be wearing the wig, because she has no hair. Are her lips painted on? What an odd place to pose, though.
I had 2 of this suit--one in pinkish and one in bluish. That would have been mid-80s
I have to add myself to the list of people who had that bathing suit as a kid: mine was purple with black, and I LOOOOVED it. I was older, though...probably 8 years old/1988. It must have been popular, to have been produced (at the very least) between the mid-70's to the late 80's. Man. Having a skirt on my bathing suit was an absolute requirement for far too long. :D
This could be a picture of either one of my daughters. At this age, they both wore the most hilarious outfits, wigs, glasses, you name it.
This photo brings back so many memories for me.
That was my swimsuit in the mid- to late-80s. Hot pink. But I didn't have the 'do or the shades. Damnations!
wow i thought i was going to be original saying i had that bathing suit... apparently i was not as cutting edge as a young child as i thought. hah. mine was hot pink with orangey colors too, and it was mid- to late-80s.
the little girl's face looks like my grandmother that lives in texas. or maybe it's just the giant hair...
this is one of my favorite, most happy-making finds ever, and that's saying something.
davy, i'll see you and your crew next week at malaprops. wait 'til you hear about my new art project. :)
Count me among the few who did NOT own this swinsuit as a child (and there seems to be a surprsingly large number of you!) and those who are seriously creeped out by this picture (and there seems to be a surprisingly small number of you!).
This has got to be one of my favorite photos! She is a little Diva and she knows it! LOL
This picture FREAKS ME OUT! really, it gives me a bad, bad feeling. I dont think I could have that picure in my house. "Something Wicked This Way Comes". I got the serious eeby-jeebys now.
why did they do that? i think they wanted to lose that picture. she do look like a midget.
what an awesome pic !!!!
I did not have this bathing suit as a child but would pay some serious money to get it for my five year old and my three year old daughters. It would totally suit them.
This also reminds to have some fun silly dress-up times with my kids and to take silly pictues !!!
This picture made my night
j
Wow.
I'm hope she didn't drive after this shot. You just can't go out with hair like that.
You just can't, and that fabulous swimsuit, someone would have robbed her for sure.
I still have this swimsuit. I'm wearing it now.
hahaha
I like the comment about her actually being a 40 year old cover girl midget. That's exactly what I thought when I saw this.
I also enjoyed the one about her being a cross between bette midler and Whoopi goldberg. That is quite frightening.
yeah.... i'm in the minority about this for sure, but i can't help but think this is a boy.
way cool to play dress up and all, but maybe that's why so many people see this as 'creepy'.... something might be hitting a psychic nerve that something's not quite right.
however, that IS a cool swimsuit for sure.
btw.... any car buffs out there know what kind of car that is?
definately a story behind this pic! very very cool!
Mommy dearest,
"No wire hangers!"
Thank you, Mariah in Rhode Island! That was bugging me.
What a great photo! This is one that needs to be given to kids in creative writing classes for those "tell what's happening in this photo" assignments. I'd love to hear the stories they'd come up with.
This gal is so ready for BINGO! And she can kick you ass and mine whenever she wants - so cute!
I had this suit too, in the pink. don't remember when, but think it was the early '80's, and i loved it!!
Mariah and Lisa - ever heard of a leopard? Tigers might not have spots, but leopards do... and leopards are way cooler than tigers, which is why we all loved this suit so much!
I have no choice but to use this as my facebook pic ................
Ahh thats so cute. I think she has one of those, "My hair looks fierce" looks on.
This picture was featured in my College English textbook, that's how I was turned to Found Magazine!
