We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
If you want me to translate it for you, post it here.

Looks like they are being punished or saying their prayers because they are being punished.
Wow. This image is haunting. That little boy sees everything I do.
what's the word on the back?
I think this is a beautiful picture. I love the contrast and the focus of the picture. I love how it feels like there is somthing just beyond the camera that the child on the right is looking at and the child on the left doesn't know about. Awesome find.
i don't think it's haunting at all. he doesn't look scared. he looks like he's in the middle of a sentence & turned just to catch the photographer's eye. i'm sure he went right back to playing.
I disagree. The expression on his face is clearly anxious. I feel bad for him.
He should be scared. The older bother has just shown him where he keeps a gun!
i absolutely ADORE this picture.
I agree with Dani. I don't think the kid looks scared in the least. To me, it looks like the photographer said, "hey, look at the camera for a second," and the kid somewhat begrudgingly did.
There are a lot of clues pointing to the fact that they are actually praying... The first thing I noticed is the familiarity, or comfort by which the boys are knelt (feet over feet); secondly the boy on the left is cupping his hand together (this is typical of muslim when they pray); thirdly, their attire, and facial features would suggest that they are of arabic decent; fourthly, the decor of the room is also arabic in nature.
Like any child, the boy on the right snuck a peek at the camera person, when he should in actuality be praying with his eyes closed... In a mili-second thereafter, I bet his eyes were closed and he was back to praying...
A Wonderful pictues that says a lot. Reminds me of my time in Zanzibar.
If they are Muslim then I don't believe they are praying. If they were praying they'd be facing the same direction, not each other. When Muslims pray they touch their forehead to the ground. If these boys did they'd either bump their heads on each other or against the wall.
The boy facing the camera seems to be questioning why his actions are of enough interest to take a picture.
Is it only me who keeps seeing a dragon outside that little window thing? That's all I can see, forget the little boy.
He doesn't looked scared to me. He looks a little bored.
I'm loving the wallpaper
I LOVE this photo! If I found it, I'd enlarge it and frame it. It's that good.
Actually, I think they have just been punished for not doing homework, or trampling over the crops or something.
Also, that decorum and features aren't Arabic; they're more south-asian. Indian, Pakistani maybe Bangladesh.
Also, Katie - the touching of the foreheads to the ground is one part of the "ritual prayer". You can pray whenever you want to (non-ritual), and it has no set motions.. though that prayer is the kind you can just shut your eyes and ask something for. Muslims usually do that by cupping their hands together =)
