We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Wait. What? I saw this find earlier today or yesterday, with comments and all.
Yes. July 28, 2002. I knew I didn't drink that much.
Yes. Triple post. Here

Ok. To bed.
Your BFF,
terrieissovery
wooooooah. that's bizarre. I'm sure the Found Folk are going to hear a ration of shit for this one..
Not from me, though.
I don't think this is poetic or beautiful at all. This Find sounds to me like an annoying, passive aggressive note from a druggie who threatens suicide, on average, two times a week.
Upon what, you may ask, do I base my observation? I just removed one of those from my life. (well, I'm in the process, anyway.)
G'nite, john boy.
what did time do to you that you had to kill it?
No- that Finder's blurb at the end of Terrie's link goes with a different find. I remember it. It said what Giles in Boston said: something like "this was a beautiful spot that helped me say goodbye... thank you." Something just went wonky in the links or code or something really techy like that. (I wonder if it's because they both basically have the same title. One has a space between the words, the other doesn't)
@Amazing inventions, Time is an evil monster, and it MUST BE KILLED!!!
at first it made me a little sad, then i read name withheld's comment, and realized it sounds kind of like me, when i get upset (usually it's about once a month!) and i'm like 'NEVER AGAIN! YOU'LL BE HAPPIER WITHOUT MY FAT ASS AROUND!!! GOODBYE!' etc etc. so, maybe (s)he's right. i dunno though, this seems calmer, hahaha. i think a good scenario for this one is a teenager running away.
Heard you missed us... we're baaaack!
I brought my... pencil!
Now gimme somethin' to write on.
I HATE DOUBLE POSTS.
I LOVE triple posts when they're from my BFF terrie-is-so-very.
The circumstances of this same find described at http://www.foundmagazine.com/find/621 are completely different. Didn't realize all this was fake. Too bad.
Hirman,
please don't be too quick to judge. If you go to the find your're refrencing and read the comments there, you will come to understand that the card pictured here (and there at the time of this post) is not the same card that was pictured there (621) originally. It's obvious in the comments.
It would be a shame if AP caught wind of your allegations and, much like you, did no investigating prior to spreading such untruths!
Interesting that this find was in a copy of marriage and family. I don't necessarily think it a suicide note, but a declaration of intent to finally leave. The writer's realization that she has been taken for granted all this time any way and isn't going to subject herself to it any longer!
I've found it much more effective to just go. No note, no explanations, just leave. They'll realise you're gone, eventually, but by that time you'll be well down the new road.
The best revenge is to live well...to the place you forget all about the person who hurt you.
@Hirman, it's not fake, it's an error. BFD.
This note is like an invitation to a pity party for one.
Aww. Someone's hurting.
Basil, you're right. And it feels much better to just go than leave a note and wonder if it's been read. It's like, instantly freeing.
Night, what's BFD?
Sad thought.
Here's another one of my long-held beliefs -
Re TIME:
'Time' as we know it, was invented by man(mankind), to facilitate and make life easier for man(kind). [E.g., "I'll meet you next Monday at noon", kinda thing.] Unfortunately, this system has evolved to intimidate - even dominate man(kind).
(...Kind of like 'Hal' in the '2001' movie?...)
And -- the same thing has happened with money!!
(Can you tell I'm a "time-challenged" individual? ADHD strikes again!! and elaborate 'causes' (excuses?) are produced.)
@ Deep dark -- oo! ooo!!! I know! Pick me!!
BFD = Big F@king Deal
It looks like the computer is confused. Maybe the tag for this Find might be the same as the one from 2002 and the computer freaked out and linked this Find's photo with the old one. I dunno.
Wonder why it was in the journal... Did the target audience receive it and then check out an issue of Marriage and Family to resolve it?
diamond Dave, lol. i love that, 'i brought my...pencil!'
looks like someone messed up and named this file goodbye.jpg, not realizing it replaced a previous goodbye.jpg and would send knee-jerkers into a frenzy of accusation.
I left a note like this once. Then I ran away... all the way to my dad's house, who promptly called my mom to let her know where i was. Very anticlimactic
perhaps, the sender used multiple names to send in the same find. And therefore, having the finds spread out and titled differently, eventually both copies were bound to be posted eventually.
Ease up, team...can you say "computer glitch"?
Hmmm I can't stand people like this. It makes me want to scream "OH GET OVER YOURSELF!"
Sorry about that, I now realize that the older posting carries the wrong image.
I'm thinking adolescent who was not getting enough attention from their friends at the library so they write this message on a small card, easing it in the direction where everyone is crowded around what's his face because he got a new pet lizard or something. The adolescent then walked away hoping that the card would get spotted and everyone would start paying attention to them again.
Winston, you're probably right. And the note will get pushed off the table and trodden on before anyone notices it...and will eventually get swept up by the janitorial staff and dumped in the trash.
I wrote a couple of drama-queen notes like this in my adolescence...and no one even noticed them, either. How to feel like an idiot in one easy lesson.
I'm with Basil. You wanna be missed...just go without a word.
@BABY BASIL- You hit this one on the head! If you want to be noticed, or missed in this case, walk away and don't ever look back!
They'll realize that what they had, was unique and special, only because they don't have it anymore.
Sad, really.
What a great place to find it in. I picture a lonely but resolved mother/wife leaving her family, after doing some soul searching and of course, research.
This breaks my heart. I'm always afraid to say things like that to people, because you never know what'll happen to them, or to you.
I would never want something like that to be my last words to anyone.
