The Mustachioed
FOUND by John King in Atlanta, Georgia
One of many great finds from communal scanning beds. This one is from an art college computer lab. I can't make out what is in the hand of the second guy. The aesthetics are so derivitave of Havana, or how Havana is portrayed, that it almost feels produced or costumed.

I love this photo!! The third guy looks exactly like Johnny Depp!!
My fave pic, so far!

It looks a little like money in his hand?

Btw, i found three abandoned puppies today. wish i could share them, but they won't fit in the scanner. RSPCA bound tomorrow. They are small and adorable, and I'm sure they will find good homes.

Awwww...where did you find these lost puppy dogs?
Do you know what breed they are?
I'm glad you'll take them to the RSPCA...lucky they FOUND you!!

Weren't the 1930's and 40's just great? A macho guy could wear a real wacky patterned shirt, sit outside having a smoke with his compadres, enjoy a little beer ... hey where's the beer?? Well, at least me and my brother got us them wild and crazy shirts.
+ May 28, 2008 05:26 AM +
drinkin', smokin', and violat in ' fashion.. devil be damned
can't we still wear wacky patterned shirts and sit outside having a beer and a smoke?

Holly, my thoughts exactly on the 3rd guy being Johnny Depp.

Is the guy holding a lightbulb? And Holly, he does look like Johnny Depp, strangely enough!
+ May 28, 2008 06:21 AM +

He's holding a cigarette as well. You can kind of see it between his top two fingers. I think his ear is being obscured by an unfortunate background glare.

he DOES look like Johnny Depp. and, pretty funny, before i read the comments, i was thinking, 'y'know, he's pretty cute...' Johnny Depp is one of the only 'hunks' i think is cute. Brad Pitt, and Zac Efron? not so much.

AY, ay, ay! It's the Gutierrez brothers, the twins Jorge and Jose, Pablo and Antonio. Jorge and Jose just finished playing Good Twin/Bad Twin with Uncle Juan and managed to take him for mucho dinero (as Jose proudly displays.) Pablo, proud father of Maria and Rosa and unfaithful husband to Consuella, looks impatient to go meet the lovely Rita in the cantina down the road. Antonio is regretting a grande plate of chile rellenos and can't wait to get to el baño.

Next question is about the finder of this Found: "John King in Atlanta, Georgia" ... any relation to the world-famous King family from Atlanta??

When I saw the picture I thought that the 3rd guy looked like an actor and that the other guys looked authentic. I didn't make the Johnny Depp connection right away but since you all mentioned it now I see it.

I love "22 Jump Street". Man, Johnny was totally hot in that!!

Inflation has increased 21 Jump street to 22 Jump street.

have you ever heard an old comedy sketch about an "inflationary language"? Every word that has a "number" in it, you add one to that number: "My darling, you look two-derful three-night!"

I'll have to google that, because that's all I remember.

Carry on.

This picture kind of makes me think of "Once Upon a Time in Mexico", that was sort of Hispanic and invlved Johnny Depp. Less mustaches and more death though...

Mary, I think you're right. I think they are all sitting in an alley or on a porch somewhere (there's a bicycle next to the guy on the left) shooting dice.

And what's up with the 2nd guy from the left? Is his thumbnail on his left hand abnormally long, or what is that? Maybe for a little of the white stuff?

@Name Withheld ... try hunting under "Victor Borge" whose (to me) delightful comedic routines also included a monologue with audible punctuation.

looks to me like the second gent is holding a glass of vino. The light just glints off the glass obscurring it.
Steppin' out for a smoke. Doesn't look like they are at least 25 feet from the entry way though. We can't take the bar ware with us when we step out here.
It took me a while to figure out where people were going when they left in little groups to return a few minutes later only to leave again. I thought they were making drug deals. Nope just steppin' out for a smoke!

When I first saw the picture, all I could think was, "Hey! Johnny Depp." Then I read the comments and that's what everyone else thought. That's all I've got.

Except this. I was looking at myspace earlier and I noticed an ad on the side, I don't know what it was for, but it said, "are you pepper?" and I found that to be just a little creepy.

Yup, that's a small, transparent wineglass of the kind I used to have, holds less than a cup when full. It has a small round "foot". Before I realised that's what it was, it looked like the guy was beckoning to the photographer. Sort of, "C'mere kid, and let me show you what to do with that camera!"

I loved Mr Depp in "The Libertine" and "Benny and Joon." He's a great actor, I just wish he were more discriminating with the scripts he selects. But then, I love independent films.

Well seeing as it was found at a art college. Is it possible that this is a still pic from one of depps films? Because look at it really closely and even the face seams to be shaped the same. I would prob put money on thats him if not then its his identical twin! creeeeepppyyyyy lol...

@mlm - I think the bright thing on his hand is a ring; if you look at the guy to his right, he has a ring creating a similar effect.

Guy to the far right [our right, not theirs] seems to be the Ringo of the group - disgruntled and off to the side.

Oh, and Baby Basil - My friend and I rented The Libertine a while back and thought at first that we had accidentally rented porn. Johnny Depp porn. We weren't too broken up about it. Ahaha.

After reading all the posts, I thought...maybe, just maybe...this was a pic taken from when Johnny Depp did the movie "BLOW". And the BIG guy to is left is that Columbian Drug Lord!!! For the life of me, I cannot 'member his name?!!
I know someone can help me out here!!!

Basil, I have the same problem. I have to go back to the 'Welcome to Found' e-mail and click on the 'activate' link every day.

@Name Withheld -- Victor Borge. But I see Librarian has told you that already.

No, it does NOT look like Johnny Depp. Different shaped face, chin, hair, everything. Just happens to be a facial type that Johnny Depp also looks a bit like! Bet he thinks he's kinda cool in his shades though.

No. 2 chap's left thumb is sort of pinching a fold of his trousers, which is why it looks oddly long and thin. He does have long fingers though, and manicured-looking nails. Wonder what his line of work is? Aha, perhaps he's a guitarist and these are the members of a tango band in between sets? In which case they're probably still playing together in their 80s somewhere.

No standardized dress code here. Two short-sleeve patterned shirts, one long-sleeve plain one, and guy No. 4 has a dark shirt AND a jacket. And what's the thing on #1's head??

Fascinating slice of history.

This looks like the photos of my grandfather and his brothers that were taken of them in South America during the 30's and 40's. Is that a correct time line for this?

You know these fellows have a swagger when they walk!

My vote is that he's holding a Nutty-Buddy,with the top eaten off, so that only the cone, covered by wrapper, is visible.
