I say we sell these cookies at a Rard Sale..
JesSICKa. Does any Jessica really spell her name that way? Really?
Hmmm.
I've never been to Ann Arbor, but it's become exponentially more interesting to me over the course of the past two years...
Eat me, I'm a cookie!
I've been to Ann Arbor once and weird is a good way to describe it. The one memory of it that stays with me is of a homeless man peering from a dumpster, looking like one of the nebbishes from Escape from Daymare Town. I was startled to see him and when he saw me seeing him he slowly sank into the dumpster. Spooky!
Ann ARbor is something everyone should experience... preferably on a Ssturday night in the summer time.
In addition to macadamias, there are walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, pistachios, cashews, brazil nuts and almonds in this cookie... It's a nice assortment of nuts ;o)
Ann Arbor? Weird? It sounds so Michigan, midwest, heart of America, kind of town. Good and stable.
I wouldn't say my body is a character. I'd say my body is the body of a character. Embodied by me.
And Freonz, you should know that fewer than 30% of us hang out in the dumpsters. All the good ones are taken.
Oh, and Kelly in less than..., I expect you'll be at Top of the Park this summer, yes?
OK. You be "the correspondent" and I'll be
"the fugitive."
Know what I mean. Nudge, nudge.
I'll bring the rope, alan.
Ann Arbor must be a weird place - I met a couple guys from there once, and they were total wack jobs.
i wanna go!!!
Flargy, i can't think of any place where there are no wack jobs. Is New Haven wack job free?
Don't be silly, Mona. I'm not the least bit judgenmental when it comes to wack jobs. New Haven has some of the most spectacular wackadoos I've ever met. The ones from Ann Arbor, though...as far as I can tell, all they ever do is wander around picking up trash and singing funny songs.
Not to mention the fact that Ann Arbor is the home of the Wolverines. Boo!! Go Bucks!! (I wonder if that's going to stir up any trouble? Hmmmm.)
Flargy, what kind of songs are they singing?
@Flargy, with your permission, I'm adding "most spectacular wackadoos" to the list of great insults I've seen today. It is in good company and joins "astounding dumb-ass".
Can't wait to see the list at the end of the day. Perhaps I'll write it on a colorful Post-it® note and casually lose it on my way home.
well, at least they are environmentally conscious wack jobs.
What I like most about this note is that it has two little pushpin holes. One on the left, under the "e" in being and the other on the bottom right, next to the question mark.
So.. Did Jessicka find this pinned to her bulletin board? Or did she pin it to her bulletin board after recieving it?
And as far as Ann Arbor goes... I guess we know where and when the "FoundHound gathering" needs to be: Ann Arbor, MI: Some Ssaturday evening in the Summer! (Flargy, I think I've met the very same "couple of guys" from Ann Arbor! Wack jobs, perhaps, but pretty damn cool.)
Damn!! The Booty Don't Stop!! Whoo!
Ah, Flargy, "most spectacular wackadoos" reminds me of Vonnegut. Thank you.
http://whatsup.foundmagazine.com/?s=dear+jessica
this Jessicka Find would be pretty cool set to music, too.
Gee, thanks guys! I'm happy to have brightened a few days with my assessment of some of the Elm City's more colorful characters.
Ensconced, I believe you are correct. And I was just about to let mlm know that the song I remember best was about booty and its refusal to stop.
Isn't "Most Spectacular Wackadoos" the name of the Ann Arbor minor league baseball team?
^5 to alan!
My best Ann Arbor story has to be when my mom and I were going to an art show in Ann Arbor but we couldn't find a place to park so we asked the first person we saw for directions. We picked quite the Ann Arborian and as he leaned into our car he was smoking a joint. The look on my mom's face was priceless.
Go Green!
The cookie sounds delicious, the rest of this just confuses me.
Flargy- I read your comment and completely forgot what I was going to say about the find. "Spectacular wackadoos" *chuckle*, thank you for that.
mmmm cookies
Ooooh, goody, a new Found game!! What kind of cookie are YOU?
I would be a peanut butter, coconut, and chocolate kiss cookie. Because the only place you can find buttercup fudge is on the Common. And Mme Cholet isn't sharing.
Ann Arbor is a mecca for freaks/cookies of all shapes and sizes - and i mean that in a good way. the cookie combination that C is describing sounds quite tasty so she must like the town too. try visiting on april 1 when the Hash Bash is held (celebrating the $25 fine for possession of marijuana) for a real "flavor" of what Ann Arbor is like.
No way does Jessica spell her name like that.
John, U-M '90
How much ya wanna bet Freon's dumpster diver was Popcorn Pete?
i love how jessiCKa has both a c and a k
makes it doubly cool.
If my town were a cookie, I think it would be one of those premade refrigerator sugar cookie rolls.
I love the "what say you?"
I just love to say that to people.
If you are what you (prefer to) eat -- I'm a chocolate-chip-and-oatmeal cookie (aka: Cowboy Cookie)!
I think Jessicka is a Russian-looking spelling for the traditional American Jessica.
And "what say you" reminds me of Adam Corolla...he always says that on his radio show. Or does he say "how say you." ??
I had a migraine when I read this the first time; which makes me slightly more of a whackadoo than usual. I read it completely wrong and thought it was about Ann Curry, the lady from the Today Show. Is she a correspondant? Is that why. . . Anyway, I have a picture of her eating cookies in my head, and I can't get it to stop.
I sort of thought Found WAS in Ann Arbor now. Am I wrong about that? Of course, if that's the case this Find will lend a little energy to the crazy theory that some goof ball keeps saying about Finds only come from the friends or family of the Found founders.
As for Ann Arbor and Michigan--love them both! The entire state and its people are great (including any wackos). Of course, this does not apply to the UP which is an entirely different place and it's full of true wackos.
And to John: love Grand Haven!
@just wondering in the midwest:
Hey, dem Yoopers are my relatives. You must be a Cheddar Head, eh?
Jesicka. From Michican.
And no, sadly, not THE Jessicka! haha.
Ann Arbor IS awesome, and yes, found is in Ann Arbor or at least part of found is in Ann Arbor. I had asked them how I could volunteer at Found Magazine.
I live/work/go to school in Ann Arbor. I work at UofM hospital and I loooooove it!
But yes, there are a lot of nuts, and a lot of different cookies. I mean, c'mon! WE have the hash bash every year the first Saturday in April!
@Night in gale, who is Popcorn Pete? Is he a local haystack cookie that inhabits the Ann Arbor area?
Night: You can call me a Cheesehead but I prefer Beerhead.
Why does being "the corespondent" sound so ominous?
Hubby says Ann Arbor is a wicked place to visit!!
I grew up here in A2. Although the town may be widely known for U-M and the wackadoos the university brings in, there's a lot more here than just that. There's a qualitative difference between the atmosphere during the school year and during the summertime (with the exception of Art Fair week). It's an idyllic, beautiful community of good folks and families who have been here for generations. The Old West Side made up much of the landscape of my childhood, and I'm truly blessed for that.
ew, good folks and families? Give me wackadoos any day.
@Freon: "Popcorn Pete" is Davy Rothbart's brother. They're from Ann Arbor. Peter is a talented singer/songwriter. I was kidding about him being the person you saw in the dumpster, but I've read stories of his great Finds while dumpster diving. You should buy a Found Magazine!
@just wondering in the midwest: Beerhead!
8-)
