Paddle Thumbs

I found this a couple of years ago in my high school Chemistry class folded up and shoved under the leg of a wobbly table. A nice place for the paddle thumbs to hide.

We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Nothing wrong with that thumb. It's the spikey fingers that warrant critique and commentary.
the thumb looks like a mobile phone. maybe all the texting had an affect.
I could perfectly imagine that there were lots of drugs related finds out there, and that having a theme on that was not overly remarkable, but to have a big thumb art themed day!? not even in my wildest dreams would I have believed it.
I knew this guy with a paddle thumb, as pictured. It was amazing to watch him push the elevator button (thumb completely covered the button) or pack a pipe. His name was Osgood, but everyone called him "Hitch".
Again...AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!
It looks kinda like an ex boyfriend's thumb. He chewed his nails down almost all the way.

I have those thumbs, except a little more rounded. And I combine my Ts and Hs (and many other letters).
In addition to garnering mockery, these thumbs are excellent for mixing up a lime wedge in a bottle of corona.

Terrie is so very--I was going to say the same thing! But really, it does look just like my husband's big toe, much bigger and wider and flatter than any big toe I've ever seen!

In college me and girlfriend came up with the idea of having a "cowgirl" name, just like a confirmation name. Our cowgirl personas were strong, creative woman who could do just as they like, just like Sissy Hankshaw.
Hit submit too soon - I was going to ask what your cowgirl would be if you had one?

nadine, do you mean what cowgirl persona would we choose? What was yours? (just looking for inspiration.. no good ideas of my own at the moment)
Also, what exactly is a confirmation name? When I was confirmed at the age of 11 in the Episcopalian church, I don't remember having a special name.
Oh - in the Catholic church you choose a name of a saint.
About the cowgirl name - remember Fried Green Tomatos when Kathy Bates developes her alter-ego Lawanda to give her courage and take the steps to be more in charge of her own life? Well, that's her cowgirl name.
Has anyone ever looked at their hand for so long that it lost all its familiarity and started looking like an alien hand? (no? it's just me, then?). Well, this hand reminds me of that. Perhaps after inhaling too many fumes from the Chemistry class, the poor paddle-thumbed individual saw his hand this way and had to draw it.
I get it. But Clover IS my cowgirl name!

thats what my left thumb looks like. it's genetic, okay? one of my my aunts has it, too. so does one of my nieces. i'm guessing her one of her nieces might get it as well. paddle thumb pride.

My cowgirl name would be Petaluma Polly. I have no idea where Petaluma is but it smacks of dust and chaps and campfires. Christiatric, you crack me up. My barmaid name is indeed "Phyliss Glass."
Those names could serve just as well as roller-derby names (well some of them) Some of those derby girls have thumbs like that. They fit right along with the clubber hands and the massive thighs though so they don't look out of place at all.
I'll have to come up with a cow-girl/derby name.....We all have one, (at least) it just needs to be discovered.
I wonder if paddlethumb makes a living by giving people scenic boatrides in kanoes

The first thing I thought of was, Sissy Hackshaw. She was the main character in a book by Tom Robbins intitled " Even Cowgirl s get the Blues". She had a big thumb like that.
