We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
I wish I could buy a good life for someone at the grocery store.
Or perhaps these items add up to a good life. Who knew something as simple as sweet and low could create something so great.
i thought the first thing on the list was "groupies" - can't get those at the Piggly Wiggly unless you're a hot produce guy who isn't too quick with the price gun.
I always add "world peace" to my shopping list (or to any shopping list I'm helping put together) just in case.
Never hurts to seek.
Whenever I'm making a shopping list and I ask my husband if he wants anything, he says "anal sex." I always add it to the list, you know, just in case.
I've lost so many lists... I wonder what people think when they find them?
If the list starts out with:
gropes
slow mix
romance
then the "sweet and low" might just be the start of a good life for Cassie.
On the other hand, if it's "grapes, slaw mix, and romaine" then the sweet and low is only an artificial kicker past which Cassie will have to fight to get to the good life.
Isn't it nice you can wander over to Asile 7 and pick up GoodLife for your pampered pet while do many of us have to work for it?
BTW, RIP George Carlin.
Tiddly winks... omg. let me pick myself up off the floor. That was hilarious. I hope i find one of your lists one day.
and Female Librarian, that is a very astute observation. I like the first version of the list.
I'm not sure if I should mention it, because I prefer the interpretation... but Good Life is a brand of dog and cat food.
I thought it said "slam mix."
A reminder to make some sort of groovin' music compilation.
...and if your buying dog food - do you really need to put the dog's name on the list. Is there a chance you might forget and think it's for your own dinner?
When asked for suggestions to add to my grocery list, my family always says "something good!" Maybe next time I'll take a lil stroll down the dog food aisle....
Could be a DVD box set of the BBC series The Good Life (which I never found very funny, but I seem to be in a minority there).
Well, I've never seen it on the shelves in Sainsbury's, but you no doubt have a better class of superstore in North Carolina.
@ampersandranch in shift-7
@alan goes "pting"
Cassie is the name of the kid who drew the portrait of Mommy (today's other Find), and now mom is going to be feeding Cassie dogfood for a couple of weeks as punishment.
Sweet 'n low...just how I like my music, and my wimmin.
Straight from the unrepeatable Mr. Carlin here are a few "Rules to Live By", that Cassie might follow:
6. Surround yourself with inferiors and losers. Not only will you look good by comparison but they will look up to you and that will make you feel better.
3. Size people up quickly and develop rigid attitudes based on your first impression. If you try to delve deeper and get to "know" people, you're asking for trouble.
2. Whatever it is you pursue, try to do it just well enough to to remain in the middle of the field. keep your thoughts and ideas to yourself and don't ask questions. Remember, the squeaky wheel is the first one to be replaced.
In Carrboro there's no superstore. Only 2 Food Lions and a Harris Teeter. Harris Teeter is where all the hot college guys shop!
@Tiddly Winks: My coffee sprayed out of my nose as I read your post..had to protect my keyboard.
Good Life can be found on the shelf, next to So-So life
@Librarian: good theory!
I'm thinking since Cassie has more or less been out of work for 20 years - he/she might have already acquired a taste for dogfood.
@Jonathan: in the US it was re-titled "The Good Neighbors". One of my favorite British comedies ever!
@Nikki ... Beware! Those hot college guys are just shopping there because they hope they'll be able to spot someone with hot teeters.
Lame
Librarian, sometimes you should just quit while you're ahead.
Good Life is a deli that has a few branches in NC. It's Good Life Gourmet and they have a lot of baked goods, deli sandwiches, coffees, etc. So she's probably picking up lunch for Cassie there.
Her dog gets deli sandwiches for lunch?
That's better than I get on most days...
My name is Cassie.
I was so relieved when I saw that somebody was buying me a goodlife! They're a little late and I'm already starting to enjoy this one though...
"good life" is the non-cinnamon life cereal.
I wish I could find Good Life here. . . they don't carry what I want. As usual. Damn.
I have a shirt that says Life is Good.
Good life?
Good LIFE! (like l'chaim)
good life (said sarcastically, like 'good night', with the eyes rolling)
GOOD LIFE! (Said with 2 thumbs up, as I win the lottery).
I'm all lost in the supermarket
I can no longer shop happily
I came in here for the special offer
A guaranteed personality...
The Clash
I guess a guaranteed personality would lead to a nice life.
I'll take a "BETTER LIFE"...Thank-You!!!
Hey, Brad, Jason, Arthur.. speaking of a good life, or even just a better life... and if you're still looking in on comments and/or taking suggestions..
do you think you'll ever have a search-by-date feature? I LOVE that we can search a Finder name now... but It'd be supercool if we could punch a date into the search box and .. well.. see what the Find of the day was for that date. (wouldn't even have to narrow down years. I'd like to be able to punch in 4-11 and see any and all Finds of the day for April 11, any year.)
Just wondering. By the way.. HAPPY BDAY Found Magazine! you're almost 50 in Dog Years. Thanks for all the fun times, and best wishes for MANY happy, successful years!!
@Noddy (it was SLADE! I remember you):
I second that. And how about a thumbnail index so we could search recent Finds without all that two-steps-forward-one-step-back business?
@Night -- thanks. I knew you would know whereof I spoke.
I am rather fond of "The Good Life", myself. But then as a womble and a vegetarian, I would. I love the episode when they realise they'll never be able to kill any of their animals and then actually eat them.
Was "The Good Neighbors" the one where the married couple lived a self-sustaining lifestyle (grew their own food, etc.) while their best friends were very wealthy? If so, I always liked that one!
mlm -- that's the one!
alan- maybe they have more than 1 dog... we have a small and a large. different type of food so we always add the dog's name to the list.
going with what librarian in the woodwork interpreted as the first third of the list, I would think Sweet and Low refers to the band Augustana's new single of the same name, and " Good Life for Cassie" means that the author is including Kanye West's song "Good Life" because it's Cassie's jam.
It's not a groccery list, it's a playlist.
Love how much this looks like my handwriting.
Goodlife Recipe dog food is what I believe they are needing.
Good Life is also a cat food. My cat loves the stuff.
Cassie is probably the cat or dog.
