"Hats" is code for drugs, or condoms...
My second thought was "hats" as in "high hats" as in David's a drummer in their band and he's only got half a drum kit at the moment. I think David's off on some drug binge and he's just hocked the high hats he usually uses and is stressing about it.
oh :-( I'm so disappointed, this would have been way funnier if he'd actually meant head hats
why would you need a code for condoms?
