We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
she deserves a break today. or else someone served her an unhappy meal.
It looks kind of like it was taken by her boyfriend.
maybe it was her parents. she looks young. could be her first day at her first job..
This is the most beautiful photo in the world. It breaks my heart.
I want to paint it!
I recently got turned down from Mcdonalds >:{
FUCK YOU AND YOUR HAPPY MEALS
Oh, gah! Reminds me of all of my teenaged days in McHell... And if McDonald's turns you down, they're doing you a favor, that place is a total shit-hole. Not worth the nickle over minimum wage they'll offer.
i am currently employed at mcdonalds and its not as bad as u all make it sound. Im enjoying it, maybe cuz i know im going to become a manager soon, but as a crew member, its still not bad. You meet a lot of new people and its a good work experience. I love this pic too. Very good.
Yeah Kyle, it was a great job for me too at sixteen hanging out the drive thru window, when I USE TO SMOKE POT!
Sweet, Simple... Perfect.
And there is nothing wrong with pot. Thank you.
Man, that is a sweet ass uniform!
she looks so innocent!
They should definitely bring those uniforms back.
Yeah, those uniforms are sweet. They should have retro day once a year and the employees could wear those. And they could play loud disco music in all of the McDonalds...but just that one day a year.
Of course I'm three times your age, but I thought that's how they still dress. And you mean to tell me that they've stopped playing disco music? Now I'm really disappointed.
I too love the photograph for its innocence.
This picture is awesome. I love the light in the bottom left corner, and the uniform makes me feel like I'm five again. She looks both happy and embarrassed that someone is making such a big deal out of it.
I haven't eaten at McDonalds in about 15 years, but this makes me want to go into one just for the nostalgic smell (some things never change).
It's sad to me that the "playgrounds" are exclusively indoors now. I used to love playing on the outdoor ones.
I don't dig McDonalds, but I dig this picture!!
I think Melanie (and the Finder, now that I actually look at the title) is right: first day of her first job (unless you count her working on the hot lunch line in junior high school.) Mom and Dad are so proud, and when school starts in the fall, she'll be able to afford her own car!!
She is beautiful, and I wonder where and how she is now! (Kittypants, why does it break your heart? Inspiring sadness? this girl? She rocks!)
This picture is extraordinarily expressive. Faded, suggests it is perhaps 20 years old, and the girl looks both proud and slightly embarrassed, like her parents have just said 'come on, let's have a photo, this is a big day!' The girl looks maybe 15 or 16, and perhaps she is quite proud and excited to start a job. I wonder what she's doing now. Don't think that so much for pictures of old people or adults even, but this suggests the grand beginning of adulthood, the first step in a great journey. The carefree and cheerful nature of the picture is perhaps what the other person found heartbreaking ... which many people find doesn't last long. A satisfying mystery, like all the best finds here.
I just wish this girl would show up in the Hey! That's Me! section. I wonder how she is now. I hope she's happy, and successful, no matter how she defines success. I love this picture.
I had that same uniform back in my Mickey D days (late 70's). Polyester and hot grease! Whoo Hoo! This picture takes me back to those days. It's both a sad and happy thing. I would like to know where she is now and how life has turned out for her.
i have loved this photo from the second i found it. i am glad other people like it as well. every once in a while i think about this girl and wonder what she is doing not. some part of me would be really hurt to find out she has not done well.
I love this picture, and they should really bring back those uniforms!
i was redirected here by accident, Feb 18, 2008
I recently learned something incredible about these uniforms - they carry with them IMMENSE POWER in certain parts of the world!
I learned this by reading "Running With Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs. You should read it too (if you haven't already).
OMG I have a remarkably similar photo of myself circa 1982, but in a BURGER CHEF uniform, smiling and braces shining!
Mine was from circa 1985 Burger King... A heat-trapping polyester corduroy bell-bottomed beauty that I wore with puffy high-top Reeboks that reeked of mung.
...of course I had braces too...
