We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,

anything that gives a glimpse into someone

I think the red sign says 3' for the depth of a pool, perhaps? Stayed at a hotel after prom, over-looking the pool and the river? Now it's a cold Sunday morning in mid-May? Was the prom the Great Adventure (most of them aren't) or was Sunday the Great Adventure? I'm thinking white water river rafting, for some reason.
The left looks angled, with the handrails and people appearing to be sitting on bleachers. I wonder if they're at some sort of marine show that will have dolphin tricks in the pool on the right?
Isn't Great Adventure a theme park? Maybe this is an after prom trip to a place like that and if they're not watching dolphins it's some sort of show put on for visitors to the park.
Almost everyone went to Great Adventure around prom-time back then (1986 for me). No marine show or dolphins there, though. There is a large lake in the area but I never remembered seeing it this close to the park when I was there. Last time I was there was 1995 and needed 3 days to get my spine straight again, LOL!
There actually is (or was? i haven't been to the park in awhile) a dolphin encounter type show at the park. The lake behind it is (or was? again - it's been awhile) used for the Lethal Weapon Stunt Show.
i don't remember what i did the day after prom any more than i remember what the boys wore to gym. so much for holding on to those memories, eh? i do know that the closest great adventure was in new jersey and that we always had grandiose ideas of skipping school and going there for the day... even though we would've spent 8 hours on the road to do so.
My "Day After the Prom, Great Adventure" snapshot would have shown the inside of a motel room.
shame about the theme park, i rather liked the idea of the day after prom being a great adventure.
Yea, looks like those are bleachers on the left where the people are sitting, anticipating a dolphin or whale show.
At first I thought, maybe swimming with the dolphins?
*shruggs*
I am surprised that thoughts are pointing to a theme park. Do theme parks have large bodies of water that look like natural lakes? Where have I been?
Actually, I thought it was an area to launch boats (the metal something on the right was my clue).
Maybe it is too early still.
@fooch - if the area happens to lie near a body of water they would have no choice but to put the theme park by a lake, ocean, bay, river, etc.
Maybe it is an area for boats and the people are sitting on bleachers waiting to board some sort of speed boat ride or nature tour through the area, by way of water.
After a certain after-prom party that I had the good fortune to attend (not my prom.. not even my home state..) Many hung over and/or still drunk people went to The Great Escape in.. Lake George? UGH. WHY did we go to an amusement park after an allnighter?
NOT a great adventure. (many very special memories in the "where are they now?" file.)
(lake george being upstate NY. But not Chatham.)
That's my friend's bday... same year too....
kinda weird.
P.s.
Spam protection today: Spell the word palindrome backwards. Surprisingly hard to do, for someone who happens to be dyslexic.
my name was wrong. My cake is not cooking the oven.. The oven is cooking the cake...
oh well.
@Got a Cake.. hahaha! that's funny!
Yea, actually this could be where they launch boats, watercrafts, etc...
Good call, CHRISTINA.
I spent the day after my prom at Great Adventure too, although it was close to 10 years to the day after this photo was taken.
I wonder why it took days for Cathryn's spine to straighten out.
Maybe Cathryn's spine needed 3 days to straighten cuz she was making out on one of those really cramped rides..like the seat was made for one person, but 2 were crammed into it.
maybe...?
And that was my 12th birthday!
Sammy and As Usual: Thank you for not calling me "Cathy." Nah, nothing quite so sordid... just from being flipped around in the air contrary to all laws of gravity. Anyone remember Lightnin' Loops? Cray-zee!
hey, to clear this all up, Six Flags Great Adventure, located in Jackson, NJ (which is close enough to NY) has a large lake next to the park, they actually perform water shows there! This picture is taken by the aquatic theatre, where seal shows and dolphin shows take place. So yeah, maybe the Prom was adventure, but it took place in Great Adventure.
(i go there all the time)

yep, Great Adventure is a Six Flags theme park in Central Jersey. I live about 10 mins away and my brother also works there. The photo was definitely taken at one of their water shows. Maybe the photo was even taken by someone from my high school, who knows?
