We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
this is exceptionally beautiful.
I can't read what it says..
" this was a beautiful spot that he..."
that he what?
The card reads:
"This was a beautiful spot that helped me say goodbye"
I find this very sad - it sounds like a suicide note!
I think it's beautiful. Reminds me of person my mum met while she was hiking, this woman and her husband were saving up money to go around the world, but he died before they could go, she said she was doing it by herself now because he couldn't, because he would have wanted her to, and because life goes on. I'd like to think she wrote that, or that someone else felt the same way somehow.
Yep, I agree with Giles... suicide note was the first thing that came to mind.
My first thought was a suicide.. but I hope it was more like what shap said. I guess we will never know.
yes, i think the place allowed the writer to let go of her grief over the death of a loved one.
it just doesn't make much sense that somewhere beautiful would help someone convince themself to commit suicide.
I'm comforted by shap's interpretation, and my mind turns from despair to simple, pure grief. I love that it ends with "Thank You."
It's unlikely, but perhaps someone brought the ashes of a loved one to scatter in a place that was special to the both of them.
this was a great find. i'd love to go to that spot, since i live in atlanta. if the woman who posted this is reading this, i'd love to know where it is
Maybe she left the ashes of a pet. That's actually what came to mind first for me.
I thought this was a suicide note too.
Suicide I thought at first as well - however why the thank you at the end. Hmm.
Is this still the right picture? The comments don't seem to match the card, unless I'm really missing something.
No, Sarah, this is not still the right picture (today, anyway.) It seems that someone's code has gone awry. The find that says, "i doubt that you'll even miss me.. goodbye" is not the Find that was originally posted with this Finder's Blurb.
Giles in Boston provided the correct text of the find that should be here.
wow. it's really sad to think that this was found on my birthday..
Dear Friends at Found,
Do you have the original Find from this day somewhere in your archives? I hate to see Finder Anne McLaughlin in Atlanta, Georgia lose her spot in the Found Magazine sunshine!!
Best regards,
your number one fan and premier busy body.
Me
Ok, well im glad i am not the only one looking at this in june 08! I was very confused when first reading the comments!
I would love to know what the original looked like
