We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
What infuriates me the most about things like this is that people do not take the time to consider that not all handicaps are visible. Heart conditions, etc..
That looks like my Dad's handwriting.
That kind of thing burns me. My grandma has a handicap thing for her car because her feet and ankles are very bad and cause her a lot of pain. But she does a very good job of hiding it. Just because you don't see a handicap, doesn't mean it's not there. Talk about respect! >_<
One time, I dropped my mom off at the entrance to a store (she had gotten her hip replaced 3 weeks earlier) and I then parked her van in the handicapped spot so she could walk back to her car. A woman in a van drove by and yelled out her window to me, "We actually NEED that spot because we have someone handicapped in the car!" Just because you don't see the person doesn't mean the spot is unneeded.
This is the kind of self-righteous victimist b.s. that makes me want to park in a "privileged" handicap spot just to piss off people like that.
Like golf and other sports, amateur bowlers have a handicap system to level the playing field, while professionals do not. Obviously, at a recent Walmart-sponsored bowling tournament, a professional bowler parked in a spot reserved for an amateur bowler.
If someone left this letter on my car, I would be pissed. I have a handicapped tag for my car (I was severely injured in a car accident and have permanent damage to my legs) and I am young. You wouldn't know from looking at me that I am disabled.
I have actually gotten this comment before and I am 18. It really made me mad that someone thought they were a better doctor because they could look at me from a distance.
Most people who park in those spaces are using their dead granny's sticker, and will tell you arrogantly that they have a perfect right to park there, and you know what? They are 100% correct, because there isn't a cop in the world that will even go look at a HCAP violation. Cops park in HCAP spaces themselves.
I just let the air out of their tires. If they're really handicapped, someone will help them, right?
