Your description of this photo makes me sad. Almost as much as the photo did.
It looks like it was taken at The Flamingo in Las Vegas.
Maybe one of the guys in this picture has since joined AA and threw it away because it reminded him of his drinking days.
Maybe the owner took the catch phrase "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" and decided to dump the picture afterall.
the only reason someone would toss a picture like that would be because of a bad breakup. one of those guys got his heart broken in a big way!
i'm not sure they are drinking margaritas, it is probably something a bit more fruity, maybe with a paper umbrella.
the people are glowing! COOL!
The man on the right looks like an old teacher of mine. There was a lot of mystery surrounding his life, the kids he taught were his family. He was a great man who shaped my character and my life. I like to think this was placed on the trash bin due to the bad quality of the photograph, and not because of the bad quality of the memories.

Bad quality? It's very artistic! Accidentally of course...but very cool. They threw it in the trash to destroy the evidence of a wild weekend.
I TOTALLY agree with cm in Atlanta. I'm trying to picture exactly where they might be at the Flamingo though...
from the reflection in the water, I can see where a lot of 60's/70's fabric and wallpaper designers got their ideas
Sorry. Ryan's comment in the Hey That's Me section doesn't convince me.
I think the guys in this picture are brothers, not lovers. Hard to tell from this picture, but their facial structures seem very similar. The guy on the left shows his teeth when he smiles.
The way that each guy has his hand on the other's shoulder (rather than the shorter of the two having his hand behind the other guy's back, and on his waist area) says "guy hug" to me, not "gay hug". JMHO.
I like the way the whole photo seems to shimmer and glow. I like the wavy reflection in the water, and overall dark/light contrast. It's a happy image. I do think it was taken in Las Vegas, but it looks quite peaceful here. Not like the sensory assault typical of that city.
