You Know What it Is That You Want
FOUND by Dan Miller in Chicago, Illinois
Found early September 2002 at the Rockwell el stop
Elizabeth in Indiana
I love this note - "fuck your fear" has become a motto for me - the fact that it is in the "Hey - that's me" section only makes it cooler. What a life lesson: just go out and get it!

Wow, this is the most inspirational thing I've read in forever. That is the exact tone I use in my mind to tell myself to get the hell over whatever is in my way, and do what I want/need to do.

I just made this my desktop background. I'm looking for jobs now and sometimes I don't apply for them because I'm afraid to succeed. I just need to "fuck my fear" and DO IT! I hope my friend Jeff sees this cause he CAN DO IT too...I know he doesn't give himself enough credit sometimes.

I love this note. It is amazing. This is exactly how I feel. Those who know what they want are blessed, and shouldn't let fear get in the way. What's the point in fear?

I had to get that kind of attitude.
I'm getting divorced, have a big house of my own now, got a job part time that turned into a full time SUPERVISOR position within 6 weeks of working there. GO ME!!!!
I had held back for so long because of FEAR.
NEVER AGAIN!

What strikes me as odd is the way it is written sideways, and not the other way on the lines.

Sounds like someone has just finished reading a self-help book... I like that it's written sideways.

Jonathan, in somniac again,
'You know what it is that you want' -- oh, lucky person. If you don't know what you want, you're sure as hell not going to get it.
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream
How you gonna have a dream come true?

Shakespeare said it best (as he did, most things): "The brave man is not he that feels no fear, but he whose noble soul its fear subdues." Which, translated from the Vulgate, means, "Feel the fear, and do it anyway." Or as my best friend says, "Do it scared!"

There's nothing like doing it scared, and realising you got it done. You have no idea what a high that is, until you've actually done it!

What's up with the recycled finds? This happened the other day, too, but by mid-day a new one -with the current date- was up. I thought it was just a fluke.

Second thoguth, after seeing the dates on previous comments: I guess I just haven't been paying attention. Sorry.

Camelia in Silicon Valley, Cali(f)
This is 2nd time in the last few days that I signed in & got sent to an historic Found...

[I worried that perhaps I'd registered at Found incorrectly, & therefore was denied access to the last six months of Found, somehow. Jason said that I was indeed registered, however, the system had had a "glitch" for a while that night...]

Anyway -- If I gotta get stuck in a Glitch, I'm grateful that this time it's one of my All-Time Favorites!!!

To Orinoco & Farmer x3 -- Let's have fun in the Glitch Niche!!
:-)

oh (and now camelia x2... lol)

@Orinoco -- I *love* it!! "Feel the fear, and do it anyway." Or as my best friend says, "Do it scared!"

... there's another Whoo Hooo (like Darcy's)...

The note & the comments are refrigerator-posting-worthy!

I'll try to find today's Found, maybe....

My favorite find... I love this one. I put on my own play, and I had this note in the back of my mind the whole time.

Come on, people! It's so obvious! Found in Chicago. The many uses of the word "fuck." Clearly what we have here is a David Mamet first draft! "Fuck the Fear! Always Be Closing!"

Stranded at the Drive in .. branded. Like a fool.
Ya know what? I was just reading back posts of the Found Blog earlier today, and it was mentioned that a couple of Davy and Jason's own notes had been found and submitted...

I think this was one of Davy Rothbart's lost (and Found!) notes.

that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. This one and the ass call Find. (ha ha ha.. who loves ya, Baby?)
