We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
I hope Jonathan and Jessica are still together. You have to love a guy who wants to learn how to be a good boyfriend.
So cute. This one is still my favorite.
haha, that's adorable.
at least he's honest.
I enjoy how he prints his name underneath his signature, just in case she isn't sure who is writing the note.
Has anyone else noticed the IMMENSE contrast between the writing styles of the signatures and the rest of the note? It's like Cyrano De Bergerac in reverse--some incredibly sophisticated pursuer gets some poor schmuck to express his feelings for him in a letter and then just throws his signature on it.
lmao it looks like he got his older brother to sign it for him.
seriously? signed love, yet it may be too early to hold hands?
high school? shheeesh.
Poor kid! Knowing adolescent girls (and considering that the letter was left in the computer lab rather than tucked away in a diary), all that earnestness probably got him dumped!
Gosh, I hope that boy doesn't get absolutely crushed...
Wow, I totally got a note just like this once. I really didn't want to date the guy.
The Honey Point?
That a wonderful title for an essay or a short story.
Love letters are taking what is entirely laid out on your sleeve and putting it on paper - and THEN handing it to someone.
Kudos to Jonathan the Scribbler Knight.
I hope he at least received a peck on the cheek!
That's so cute. Made me remember when my mate Joshua and I were little.
...His writing was AWFUL though, illegible. :]
Check out musician Joe Sepi's rendition of this find here: http://whatsup.foundmagazine.com/?p=96 Enjoy!
I love it!!! yet so sad. I hope they are still together although I doubt it considering where it was found.
This is absolutely adorable. Any girl that is lucky enough to get a guy that wants to be a good boyfriend is lucky. I hope he wasn't sorely disappointed!
This is so sweet, but I think it probably didn't work out between, considering where it was found. It's really such a shame... nice, innocent and inexperienced guys are worth a try, they usually treat you a lot better than one who's been there done that.
What courage he has to put his cards on the table like that. A very brave young man, indeed!
Superb! (I wrote something else and then I read below that I aint supposed ter. So I deleted it.)
that reminded me of this website someone had sent me in high school. I wish I remembered what the actual site was but it was like a 12 year old boy saying "will you be my girlfriend" and this list of strange ass things he would do.

BEST FIND EVER!! And the song written about this is awesome!
I like the paragraph about his usual responses. Does he realize that by including this, he is admitting that she is NOT the first girl he has asked to be his girlfriend. sigh. Have a little heart for poor Jessica too
Aw. Reminds me of my old boyfriend. This is very sweet, && honest. <3
Ok. Obviously he was typing this up on the computer next to which it was found. The * at the end of #3 shows where he was planning on inserting the part after the * at the bottom. Also, he printed his name under the signature because he was planning to type his name and leave space for a signature. I think Jonathan has a future in writing business letters for sure.
So then he accidentally left the letter next to the computer after he printed it to give it to Jessica. I wouldn't give up hope on this couple.
Reminds me of so many things...
I love this one. It reminds me of that scene in Donnie Darko- "Do you want to go with me?" :)
Hey, don't forget to check out Joe Sepi's song using this note as lyrics:
http://whatsup.foundmagazine.com/?p=96
This is a fantastic note! I just listened to Joe Sepi's song, written from this note, and I'm moved by the inspiration! To think someone wrote a song, based on a note found on the ground. Very creative! Good job, Joe Sepi, and good job, whoever this kid is for being open enough to someone else's needs. He'll grow up to be a good man.
I don't think "Lucky Nick" is the only one getting fucked
At first, I thought it said "Dear Jesus." You know Jesus doesn't hold hands until the third date.
What's like to be young and in Love. I hope their love is still going strong.
Compare this to this:

Perhaps the Ninas and Jonathans of the world could find each other.
I think the honey point is also known as 3rd base.
I am utterly loving the signature. It is completely incredible! But I doubt Jessica would have stuck around after realising what his 'usual answers' were.
There's something about the neediness that makes this painfully embarrassing to read.
Surely the honey point isn't 3rd base!! when he had to ask if he could hold her hand surely he'd be a little more subtle about 3rd base
This absolutely made me smile.
Why weren't there boys like this around when I was in junior high? So sweet.
J'adore how he signed it, like it's a legal document...And its lovely how he thanks her for saying yes. Like she's doing him a favour.
Poor guy. Let's hope he grows a pair before college.
Seems obvious to me that "the honey point" is the point at which Jessica would permit Jonathan to call her "honey."
What a sweetie-pie. I hope he got a girl who deserves him.
Wow. That cut right to the quick, didn't it? That's a really heart-wrenching note, but like others here, I have a feeling that our dear friend got rejected again. In a few years, he will have learned how to sense where things are in a relationship and everything'll be fine. Hopefully.
That is so cuuuute!
i wish things were still as easy as that. =/ <3
A man on a mission not afraid of asking permission! Some of the guys out there need to take a good look and learn from this note!
GO JONATHAN!
It wasn't me! No, really! Honest! I was never that good with words... But I'm curling up with embarrassment thinking of how equally gauche I was at a similar stage.
It did take me something like a year to get to hold hands with my first serious girlfriend. And if the 'honey point' is what I'm thinking it is (no, not what *he* thinks it is), that took an awful lot longer too. But back in those days, that was as far as it went! *sigh* *lost innocence*
Funny how most of the comments are from girls thinking this guy is sweet and considerate. Meanhwile most chaps would just be thinking 'jeez, what a prat' and won't bother to comment!
Hmm, Midlife, not sure about Nina. I think she was a bit clingy and her man was a two-timing rat. But what would I know?
Maybe they can just go on writing notes to each other and be happy ever after. ;-)
Are you people friggin for real?? sweet yes, but at the same time sad and very pathetic. This guy is in high school. and his wording seems that he is in the "special" classes if you catch my drift. He is too needy, just like girls that are too needy guys that are too needy are worse. Its sick!! and very sad.
Tammie: I *totally* agree with you!! I dated a guy like our 'friend' Jonathan here. Like Jessica, I was his first major girlfriend so quite often he was very obsessive in telling me how "lucky" he was to have me, how he thanked God everyday for me, how much he loved me, etc, every-single-bloody-day. Needy guys like Jonathan and my ex not only have a lack of confidence, but their neediness eventually leads into abusive behaviour. This advice just coming from my previous experience: but when a man is that needy Girls, it is NEITHER cute or sweet because he will literally choke the life right out of you :(
I love it!! Why can't all guys be that willing to learn:)
Man, I definitely would have had second thoughts after reading all the usual rejections. Or maybe she was even like, "Damn! Why didn't I think of that?!"
What is 3rd base?
i love how he signed it & made it so formal!! it made me giggle :)
The only people who get to call me honey are diner waitresses.
I'm guessing this is day 2 or 3 of them "going out"..the desperation is fierce.
"I'm to damn shy to ask a girl out"
:D
Though this letter is like everyone says, "Sooooooooo cute!!", the first thing I thought was LOSER! If a dude wrote me this, I'd be like wtf!
This reminds me of a note I received from I guy I worked with (at the grocery store) during High School. It had all the same timid 'I like you' content, but the really creepy part was I found it on my front porch.
Oh - and I wonder how many times he practiced that signature before picking just the right one to show how cool he is.
Ew. He is way too creepy and way too old to be writing ridiculous notes like this to his girlfriend. By highschool, you should either have some kind of clue as to how a relationship works, or at least be smart enough to keep your ignorance to yourself. Jonathan freaks me out, and if I were Jessica I would get out quick.
Dear Jessica,
Will you teach me how to be a good boyfriend so I can please all the chicks who come along after you? I did say I haven't had a lot of girlfriends YET. So don't get too comfortable, honey.
Love,
Jonathan
I had a boy who would write me cheesier letters than this in high school. I tried to explain to him that there was NO chance we'd ever date.
Five years later, we were married. What can I say? I'm a sucker for romance.
This has to be one of the most adorable finds I've seen so far. Jonathon seems like such a sweet, eager-to-please guy...I hope Jessica stayed with him!
honesty rules. i really sincerely hope his heart didn't get smashed. and it kind of seems likely. which just blows, 'cause he seems extremely sweet. HEY JONATHAN IF YOU'RE READING THIS I'M SENDING YOU A VIRTUAL HUG.
This is one of my favorites. It's so innocent and heartfelt. I hope she said yes.
My little brother Seth was friends with a little girl named Keara Sexton when he was younger. I wonder if it's the same girl. Weird.
I love the fact that it shows how honest and innocent Joshua is! I hope they are still together. Very sweet, one of my favorites! Its very refreshing :)
makes me wanna puke
I love the fact that his signature is no where near his handwriting, and that its so official
Aw, I remember a boy giving me a thank you letter in grade 7 for saying "yes". Sweet times, I wish I still had that letter.
I speak from experience when I say that the kind of guy who footnotes his awkward and hyper-self-aware love notes is in for a rough time of it unless he finds a girl who's guileless as a dew-drop. And we never do.
