We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...

Those poor kids. They're moms always telling them not to put a bag over their heads, then their teaching making them do it :(

does it seem like they are all boys except for one girl. The Y ?
The space kid got totally ripped off. If there weren't enough kids for 2 spaces, why not make him an exclamation point or the year? and the last "A" is hilarious like he doesn't trust it, he probably thought people might throw stuff at them or everyone else would leave and he'd be out there all alone.
In a school assembly on manners, we had to hold up the letters of "thank you" and, unfortunately, I was the space. I feel that kid's pain.

How strange. This looks almost exactly like what I remember of the elementary school I went to for 1st and 2nd grade at Hazletine Ave. Elim School in Van Nuys, CA.
Yo, Jello! My mom substitute taught at Hazeltine in the mid-1950s. I went to Gault St. Elementary, just south of Sherman Way on Amestoy Street in Van Nuys. Cool connection, Ms. Mold.
hahahaha This seriously made me laugh. How cute is this? The first kid -the H- makes me think of Randy from 'My Name is Earl.'
I want to know why everyone thinks the building is boarded up, though? The only thing I see that might possibly look that way are those garage door type things.
I agree with Wondering in Sacto Ca.. the first Y looks like a girl to me, from the way she's standing. (feet together, more dainty and graceful than all the others)

I'm wondering why some kids didn't actually put their bag on their head, but rather are holding the bags in front of their faces. (well, except for the Rebel E in year..)

Where is the other half of the class?... All the girls? Maybe the teacher had them spell out "Merry Christmas &" (there are shadows at the right... maybe those are the girls).
I feel for the space kid: in grade school assemblies, I was always the proverbial space.
I think the first "A" is really hoping that it doesnt take much longer to take the dang picture...as he has GOT TO GO!!!!
Do ya think this is where the unknown comic got his start? My guess is he's the space, so he set out to prove himself worthy of a letter, or at least some eye holes ; )
Damn! Imagine having 13 kids ... and if THAT weren't bad enough, all but one of them are so ugly you make them put paper bags over their faces for your annual family holiday photograph!
This is one of my most favorite finds. It looks like California to me. I wonder if Jello ever saw Midlife's comment, coming as it did, about 6 weeks later. Because that's an amazing coincindence. Absolutely amazing.
I'm not sure the school is boarded up. It could be that boards were installed so kids could play games by bouncing balls against the walls at recess. Or those could be external window shades to keep the sun from heating up the building so much.
Whats up with the guy in the background between the A and the P. How could you not pay attention if a bunch of people lined up and put bags over their heads?!?
...so the Finder's dad buys the van, and the Finder vacuums it out?? How did Dad get you to do that for him? Is there a trick?
