this reminds me of a game we would play at summer camp... it was a chant sort of thing
"banana republic unite! go banana, go go banana..."
Those two that you mentioned are the names of summer camp songs...I don't know if that actually has any correlation but its a possibility.
I learned "The Banana Song" from some American counselors that came to Japan to work with some kids from around the prefecture. I have since taught it to a slew of elementary school kids. They love it! So, the Banana Republic is spreading.
i worked for banana republic. no, that is not why my screename is conanabanana02.
I know so many people who would do something like this (and I'm so thankful for that).
"This mystery remains unsolved."
hahahaha I love this finder!
The bananas, grapes and coconuts are uniting against us.
Come the revolution, there will be smoothies...
those are definitely kid's cheers....
One goes Banana Republic Unite!! Peel Bananas, Peel Bananas Peel, peel bananas!!! Eat bananas, eat bananas, eat eat bananas!! Go bananas, go bananas, go go bananas!!!
And the other one is part of a cheer about Tarzan!
I think this has something to do with the south and central american countries known as the banana republics. These nations grew bananas as their staples crops, due largely to US corporate influence. So yes, its some sort of call for a revolution against American consumerism/imperialism.
Bananas have no lips!
Bananas UNITE!
Banana SPLIT!
Peel banana
peel peel banana!
I united my banana with a summer camp counselor when I was a 16.
Also learned this at a summer camp around 1994. This is how I remember it...
Bananas of the universe, unite!
Go banana, go go banana
Squish banana, squish squish banana
Peel banana, peel peel banana
Those may not be in the right order and I really don't remember the moves. Used to do it all the time though.
Banana's want to Unite the Republic.
I think it is
banana republic unite!
Peel bananas peel peel bananas!
slice bananas slice slice bananas!
squish bananas squish squish bananas!
eat bananas eat eat bananas!
GO BANANAS!go go bananas!
a camp song:
bananas of the wooooorld... unite!
peel bananas
peel peel bananas
squish bananas
squish squish bananas
and we eat bananas
eat eat bananas
and we barf bananas
barf barf bananas
bananas!
needless to say i was sick through most of that camp... we also sang a song that went "i like bananas, coconuts and grapes! that's why they call me TARZAN OF THE APES!"
Andy Warhol, anyone?
This sounds like a song my daughter's softball team sings in the dugout.
Um, Banana Republic is not a place to unite. It is a place of conspicuous consumption, economic stratification, gender division, and fashion homogenization.
That being said, this poster is charming.
um... i think they might have meant banana rapublic like, the islnd thingie that was sorta mentioned in one of kurt vonnegets books. when did u find this?
You've heard of the "Crips and Blood" gangs?
Add a new one to the list.....the NANAS.
Good comment, Lance Pants!
Had to add this as a fave.. not so much because of the picture.. intresting as it is..but the commentary is very entertaining.
