My Behavior
FOUND by Buford #3 and Robyn in Las Vegas, NV
Robyn found this in the parking lot outside of work, where lots of kids walk home from school daily.
Kermit Fog in class related to my grades
Robyn, what did you do with Bufords #1 and #2?

Judging by the handwriting I'd say the writer's behaviour in class is closely related to his or her learning disabilities. He/she can't keep up because of the problems with writing and the interface between hearing and written expression. Having been shuttled from one grade to another in a financially strapped school that doesn't have the resources to deal with the problem, s/he has simply given up trying. No wonder s/he doesn't pay attention. And you've got to do something, sitting there 7 hrs a day.

Very true, BabyBasil.

A good teacher will bring out a student's best behavior.

Sometimes we remember things better once we've thought about it and written it down.Traditional school structure doesn't work for every single person.I happened to like it, but if I had kids, I think I would home school or Waldorf school them, in todays day and age.

NightCleaner in certainty the last hour of this shift will be BAD
The parents share some of the blame; the kid was probably plunked in front of the electronic babysitter instead of being read to and then encouraged to read. My dad read 'The Hobbit' to my sisters and I when I was in Gr. 2, and I was reading The Chronicles of Narnia by Gr. 3. If/when I have kids, NO TV!!! (except in a locked cabinet in my bedroom!)

@NightCleaner ... Wait! You're going to lock your kids in a cabinet in your bedroom? And only THEN let them watch TV??

Saints--Oh, THAT'S what it says. That clears everything up.

Otherwise, what Kermit Fog said. (I picture the Bufords as collies, but I could very well be wrong.)

Muse on the Loose
Daryl had recently been jumping up in the middle of class and shouting "FIRE!" for no reason. His grades also weren't very good. The school counselor made him write a paragraph about why his grades were bad. The problem was that it really felt like there WAS a fire—he had a really bad burning rash.

I believe that 3rd sentence is: "This messes with my grades because I won't know what to do."

sounds like something this students teacher made them write to "explain" why they weren't paying attention in class. I'm not surprise about the handwriting. kids aren't being taught to write by hand anymore and most just rely on these blog sites and "texting" for their so-called communication. As so long as this country tries to promote public schools, over the alternatives of charter, private, and home schooling, this will be the responsibility of the schools to teach the general population. As more and more people move out of the cities and deplete the revenues, public schools will continue to decline. Oddly enough, those that stay in the cities tend to be poor black families that manufacturing industries have thusly abandoned. Ah, but this is an old story, and actually pretty pathetic that it is still an issue in 2009, but I dare say the evidence speaks for itself. This childs failing is a failing of our society. We can only hope that our collective village can come together and raise them, or they will surely die.
