How Tidy Is This Now December 13, 2006 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Every time I am feeling down, I take a look at this and get my second wind.
this must be my all time favorite find. :)
always makes me smile
Awww, this is so adorable. But it's also poetry. This one is a keeper. I'm also stealing this line for the next time I try to impress a female. Contrary to the childish scrawl, however, the flawless grammar and spelling and the good word choices lead me to believe the author is somewhat older than it might initially seem.
I want one..........
this makes my heart skip every time i look at it. i hope the reciever appreciated it as much as i did.
this is amazing
wow. that made me smile and blush.
I wonder if the writer actually intended to give it to a person or if it was just his thoughts on paper. Whichever it is, I love this one.
I like this a lot. It made my heart skip.
What a beautiful note to write to (or about) someone.
The "O" in "to" looks like a heart :)
Aww I melted when I read that. I want someone to shyly offer me pretty things. Or at least to want to!
i wish it was written about me.
ps. molly, i noticed the heart, too, its cute. :)
This is my new desktop background. It makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Don't ask me why.
Why do I never get messages like this?!
you can give me pretty things..
This makes me want to give pretty things.
♥
Wow, that's completely beautiful. I want someone to shyly offer me pretty things. *sigh*
Who wouldn't love to get a note like this?
this is amazing :] it always makes me smile
this is adorable... it almost sounds like lyrics to a song somebody's in the process of writing.
I absolutely ADORE this find. It is my favorite for sure. Molly in Kansas, that is the very first thing I noticed.
Cutest. Note. EVER.
I plan to remember this note all day on Febuary 14 with the hope that some one will one day feel that way towards me, it gives me hope (even if at the same time it makes me feel like crying).
I will also steel those lines and write them on a postcard for my lover for Valentine's.
How nice.
This is a HUGE example of "It's the thought that counts". He's a keeper :)
Hands down, my favorite find ever.
Every time I look at it (which is a lot), my heart gets a little bit fuller.
That is precious. Its poetry, but honest and unique.
Um, it must be only me, but I think this is the creepiest note ever. It sounds like maybe an adult baby or something awkward like that. Scary! I wouldn't be flattered! I'd be frightened!
i hope that person appreciates you
I love this one. So cute!
I have to agree with Xana.. this does sound pretty damn creepy. Not that the sentiment isn't nice, or whatever.. but the penmanship and the wording leads to something disturbing under the surface. "Shyly offer them to you one at a time".. it might have been written with the purest of intention, but it reminds me of something a serial sadist with a baby's brain might think about. Lot's of pretty things...... one... at.. a.. time..
Apparently chicks dig this. This is good to know. :)
First draft of something destined for postsecret?
wow i wish someone wrote me a note like that
I. Love. This. Cutest find yet.
Eek! This makes my soul do a happy dance!
Eek! This makes my soul do a happy dance!
this makes me smile so muchhh!
it is veryyyy cute.
:):)
adorable. probably the sweetest thing i've ever heard.
I love this one... but yet in a way it sorta freacks me out. Any one agree???
I agree
I agree that all is not as innocent as it seems. For one, it sounds sort of manipulative. Offering something shyly should not be a planned event. You offer something. If you are shy, that is what happens. But you shouldn't be PLANNING it. That is creepy. Like someone is doing WAY too much planning and giving WAY too much thought as to how he is perceived. Yuck!
this is not an original thought...my ex boyfriend used it on me a couple of years back...after we broke up he admit to finding in on an art book
This find is two years old. The 'art book' could refer to the actual Found magazine, where I believe this was originally published.
The funniest part for me is that the handwriting looks exactly like that of this guy I know. He's really shy around girls he likes and this seems like something he'd do.
It's funny...I have the feeling that if the handwriting had been smaller and more "sophisticated" looking I wouldn't be weirded-out. (Or, perhaps, not as much.) It reminds me of a guy who liked my sister back when we were in high school. I think he bought a really inexpensive (the kind that would turn your skin green eventually) jewelry SET from like a Woolworth's Department Store, but then doled it out over a week or so as her Secret Admirer, then presented the ring in-person. Sweet, but creepy. With that said, I'm truly a romantic at heart, so I hope it's sincere and not sinister.
I hope to one day have this kind of romantic person in my life. I hope the person who got this note enjoyed it. :)
At first, I thought the first line was;
"I want to buy you."
But I read it again and felt a little relief.
It's cute, but still creepy in a way... :/
I agree only with those who find this note CREEPY. Don't buy me stuff and give it to me shyly, buy me stuff and just give it to me!
It seems like a song quote to me. I know that when i have a song in my head i always write down the lyrics-i'm guessing that's what this human did.
This makes me so happy.
I want someone to shyly offer me pretty things.
"Put the fuckin' lotion in the basket!"
For crying out loud, Timothy, how many of these things did you buy? I swear to God, if you give me one more Precious Moments © figurine, I'm going to slit my wrists and plunge them in a basin of warm water.
I thought it was really sweet. It reminds me of a "shy" boy I met in school, I married him 17 years ago! I was much happier before I read some of the "comments.
sweet:)
this person has a future as a very successful songwriter...totally beautiful and simple lyrics...
This is just so cute!
When someone is feeling down I send them this link to cheer them up.
This is one of the most beautiful and touching things that I have ever read.
This is the cutest line I have ever heard. It's pretty much impossible not to go "Awww" or just plain smile when you read that. I hope the girl or whoever it was said yes, because I know I would. :)
The kid is probably 8 years old and he already knows what women want. He is well on his way....
If only my boyfriend would say something half as nice.....
this is really cute. but for some reason the whole, "and shyly offer them to you one at a time" part, kind of creeps me out.
maybe it is because it seems like only a very young child would say this, but the writing doesn't look that young. so then it just sounds creepy to me.
or maybe i am just not the romantic type.
Wow. The juxtaposition of a child's handwriting with an adult's sentiment is striking. In any case, it's beautiful.
I agree with Mary. There is something about this note and makes me think the person is not quite sane in the head.
With the handwriting, and the phrase "pretty things" ... I just get a bad vibe from it.
Aww, I don't think it is creepy. I know lots of guys with crazy messy and childish writing, so the look didn't throw me off. haha
I think it is really sweet. It made me smile. It seems like a rough draft for a card, letter, or song to a girl.
It reminds me of ee cummings. <3
This is beautiful.
This is an amazing find. Probably my favorite.
So sweet, i wish some boy wanted to buy me pretty things <3
this is great. whoever wrote this is a true romantic.
Almost looks like a period after "I want to buy you" doesn't it? Know that would put a dark turn on it. It's not though.
Someone is in love. Surreptitiously slipped love note. Or maybe, a letter left unsent.
One interesting subliminal fact. Notice that "YOU" is written larger than any other word on the page. Somebody's got it bad.
this looks like my friend's writing.
:P
it makes my heart hurt...in a good way.
x
I think I'm going to vomit. Because of the comments, that is. All the swooning and fawning...Hey ladies, I've got this beachfront property in Florida that I know you would simply adore. You'd better act quickly though, before one of the several other interested parties snatches it up! The note...what a contrived load of horse shit. Do you really think that someone who would do these things would actually put it in writing? Come on! This is probably some douchebag with a ponytail who wears sweaters and plays acoustic guitar in public parks. He caught the attention of some girl who he thinks would be a sucker for the "pitiful social misfit" schtick, and now he's going in for the kill.
Sounds like the kind of guy that I always end up dating. xD
not sweet at all but disturbing. give this guy wide berth, ladies.
All I can make out from the back side of the paper this is written on is Berkeley... & Spiritual...(?) festival..
& (Sat) March 6th.
(at first I thought the word spiritual was spirella. There was a company by that name, which manufactured custom-made corsets. One of its three factories was in New Haven CT.)
I agree with those who say it's a little creepy and stalkerish. (as well as calculating and manipulative) At first glance, it seems sooo sweet and.. woe-mantic. But no- there's an undercurrent.
I wonder what the delay between his 0ne-at-a-time offerings would be? a day? a week? 10 minutes?
i can just picture a little boy giving this to his crush..and then she replying with... "ewhh boys are icky."
ooh the woes of growing up
this is super adorable. heart shining adorable.
does anyone know if it's a quote from somewhere else?
Wow, the handwriting and words look -just- like my husband's. I'm divorcing him today, actually, and should be getting ready. Glad I procrastinated long enough to check out this site my friend recommended yesterday so I could read this note!
I could "find" dozens of notes like this in my boxes of precious things I left at our home when I left him. The day we got married, he started abusing me, and for years I believed that this sweet thing I was head-over-heels-in-love with wouldn't treat me that way unless I deserved it.
This note sounds cute at first glance, but as many have pointed out, a person who pretends to be shy in order to win your heart could well be pretending other things, too.
this is sweet. :) i want a lot of pretty things too!
