Bunny
FOUND by Shawn Nee
in Weymouth, Massachusetts
Found in an abandoned farm house near my sister's house. The house was actually on a lake so the basement was completely filled chest-deep with water. The interesting thing about this find is that it was as though the woman just simply vanished one day and no one seemed to care. Her pay stubs with her social security number were lying all around, paid by the convenient store across the street that she worked at for $5.35 an hour; food was still in the refrigerator, rotting away; the cupboards, as you can see in the photo, were completely filled. I could go on and on about this house - it is simply one of the most fascinating places I have ever found.

Well there's her problem.
it sorta looks like the bunny out of donnie darko.
He looks really...creepy.
Good call, Australia! That's the movie I want to watch tonight.
I like the finder's comment - very intriguing. The picture is kind of unsettling to me. At first look I thought that was a ferret type corpse on the heater.
Well, kinda' cute with the person ddressed up in their Halloween Costume...or is it??????????????? MUHAHAHA!!
oh my god thats the creepiest thing ive ever seen! does no one else find it disturbing that this person just vanished from their house? there's something sinister afoot!
That's the perfect find for Halloween. Creepy as all get-out!
that is absolutely terrifying.
While I was waiting for the page to load I walked away and came back to see this scary fucker staring at me......The story fits well though, all in all pretty creepy. No Halloween feel to it either, deranged grandson perhaps?
FUCK THAT SHIT!!!REAL SCARY PICTURE!THE PERSONS EYES ARE ROLLED BACK!REAL FREAK!HAHAHAHAHA
i also thought it looked a bit like Frank too!
Maybe you should call the police?
For some reason this reminds me of "Bunnee," the terrible rabbit-Found with pointy teeth.
OOOOHHHH NOOOOO IT'S BIG BUNNEE!!
I couldn't ask for a better story today.
Wow! The story and photo are so scary! Yee-ikes!
the explanation of this find is identical to another one. I dont know what it is, and i'll look for it, but this is weird
This reminds me of the Crimson Ghost from The Misfits.
Mona: might it be in one of the FOUND books?
Does anyone else find it funny that "JOSHIEWASHI" tried to scream at us for an effect and yet cannot spell "Haunted"? He must be like 12, uses big curse words and yet can't spell! HA HA HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!
am i the only one that laughed at the title "bunny"? i can here some stereo-typical m.r. voice saying "buh-nee".
also noticing the bells in the window - aren't those to ward of evil spirits? maybe i'm reaching here...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
kdawg: Why would someone call the Police? They will be of no help. They need the Gohstbusters to come and send this creature back to the depths of hell from whence it came.
Who you gonna call? I aint afraid of no ghost.
Who named it bunny, the finder or find guys?
That's one scary lookin' bunny! But I'm also scared by the neighbor's B&E with robbery on a house owned by a supposed missing person. Y'all be sure to leave nice sets of prints for the cops to find.
Manda, you are reaching; those are windchimes.
Boo, y'all!
Creeeeeepy photo & excellent find story.
Blair Witch's house perhaps? Did the Blair Witch work at a convience store?
The photo was a major shock first thing this morning too.
Boo. Happy Halloween everyone!
Midlife, havent read the found books, its my mission to figure this out by the end of today.
i'm thinking the inhabitant of the farmhouse died and the family was too distraught to sell the house. or maybe she passed away and no one knew her/where she lived.
happy halloween, found-ers!
Aww...poor missing lady! Worked her butt off and risked her life working for minimum wage in a convenience store, only to have this flesh-eater from the depths of the nearby lake come and devoured her, and no one cared enough to report her missing?
OUCH! I bet those teeth hurt as they gnawed on her underpaid bones....
I wouldn’t lurk around there too much – YOU COULD BE NEXT!!!
Gotta say it, Creepy! Boo. My Aunt did they same thing, her kids told her they were taking her home with them. After she died we went back to her house and there was food on the plates still on the table. House was unlocked, food in fridge. She just left.
Actually, if you look, the person wearing the mask is looking hard to the right with both eyes, which are brown. Their eyes are *not* "rolled back in their head." Sheesh. Even Shansi knows that!
But it *is* apropos for the day, if you celebrate Halloween. Wombles don't. We stay in the burrows tonight as the Common is a strange place after dark.
LOVE IT! I love creepy stories that you can make up your own ending!
okay..that really creeps me out, with the comment and all. I'm sitting here in the dark (pacific time you know) all alone and looking at that. augggh
I love the back story on this find. What happened to the lady? Was she murdered? And just who is that face of death in her kitchen?
This is one of the BEST finds on this site. The color composition, the back story, the timeliness, the weird look in the eyes. It all comes together to create something truly creepy and captivating. I will never forget this one.
Does anyone else see the potential movie script in today's find? This is an excellent start to the next big cheesey horror movie.

Someone check out this link, if i'm right, it leads to the same photo, and the same explanation, thereby relieving my feeling of deja vu. I can't go to this link "Reason:
The Websense category "File Download Servers" is filtered."
so..someone help me with my detective work, k?
I'm confused. Is the poor missing lady's name "Bunny" or does the finder think that this is a picture of a bunny?
Mona, you are correct. The explaination varies just a bit. There was a part about a turtle. Noe, you can spend the rest of your day deja vu free.
The find: If you'll notice in the window you will see biggest fan of this costume.
*now*
Turbo... groan
bah dum bum
I didn't realize FOUND had a photo stream in Flickr!
I wonder where Shawn Nee found this photo. Like, if it was face up on the kitchen table, what a spooky find! As if a perpetrator came to the house, posed for this polaroid, and then vanished with the occupant, leaving only this photo clue for us.
Wouldn't this be considered theft of forensic evidence. Afterall, I have to say it's pretty weird that this old lady disappeared and this person was in her house. However, How do we know the old lady isn't the one in the mask. It could be. That mask is definately hand-made. No store bought spooks here. She definately seems eccentric. And shame on you for rummaging through this woman's SSN's and papers. What are you up to in there, Identity Theft?
Wait, I've seen this in a movie. . .she's buried in the basement - just like all the others! Nice touch, flooding the place.
Happy Great Pumpkin Day
Thank you, Turbo. I knew i had seen/read about this before. You're a pal. I can now go back to work, with a clear mind.
Demented bunny is more like it.
Turbo - Where? The rodents on the radiator are the only things I see.
Blaah in Australia - It it totally Donny Darko!
I think turbo meant 'fan' as a pun alai.
Has anyone noticed how brightly colored the blue cup on the counter looks in this otherwise muted hue photo?
poptarts in foil packets: pick a different handle, you imp.
What a perfectly creepy find for today! I love the back-story.
I'm surprised you guys who are talking about Donnie Darko and you guys who are wondering about the "bunny" label haven't hooked up yet! The finder named it bunny because it looks like bunny from the movie Donnie Darko. There, I said it.
Omigod! There are rodents on the radiator - didn't notice that Alai.
Shawn Nee has awesome photos on the Discarted photo stream in Flickr.
i;m confused---did this person find the PHOTO in the house? or did he find the COSTUME in the house, whereupon he took a photo wearing the costume? i'm asking because he mentions the cupboards being filled with food, "as you can see in the photo." just wonderin'.
That is absolutely fascinating... I want to go!
Dear god, it's FRANK!
Katherine, i'm glad to know im not the only one to know his name! lol Frank<3
28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds
Wow, I guess I should have had my coffee earlier. Well, I feel lame now. Thanks for the heads up, though, Sean.
I wonder if people go to that house on Halloween for a cheap thrill. We have a run down hospital here that people visit on Halloween cause it's spooky.
Girl wearing orange: it can star john cusack, kathy bates and lee lee sobieski (sp?).
Roberta? Robertaaaa?
that kinda just really gave me a shiver. nice find, especially for halloween!
Maybe he lady didn't disappear at all, but EVOLVED into this CREATURE, due to the toxic contaminates in the lake water filled basement!!!
And the reason her friends and family didn't looked for her is she dismembered them ALL!!!
And she left this picture as a warning to stay out of the house, OR IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!!!
Now on occasion, "it" is spied hiding behind the convenience store dumpster, watching for the next victims!!
i bet the woman is tied down with cinder blocks in her water filled basement.
Stop it, Cotton. You're scaring me!
Ick, megan's the one scaring me!
I like baby basil's comment best so far.
No spam question?
So this is weird. I go to the link my mom posted to see if it was the same, and it said it wanted to redirect me to found, and it did and it was pointeless. So I decided to take the first part of the address out and just put found.
When i got to the found page, it said "I'm sorry we couldnt find that page" but underneath it where it gives you the 4 "more finds" one was named monica :S
Those of you who get a thrill from this story will love one of my personal favorite This American Life broadcasts. It's called House on Loon Lake and will spook you out of your pants. Here's the link: http://www.thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=
This is a photo-find found in a house-find, with a story that goes along fit for a script! Three birds at once... lucky!
Creepy how much it looks like this post:

father?
You never know, he could have the biggest smile on his face inside that mask :)
maybe shes in the basement, under the four feet of water.
Oooh it's a scary flashback to my childhood. As a child growing up in Wyoming (late 60's early 70's) we would visit my Grandparent's who lived an hour or so away. They lived in a little run down town pop. 300 and us kids were bored to tears. We would play at the end of their street in an old abandoned underground house. My older brother and cousins would go inside but I never made it past standing on the roof and going down the 1st couple steps. Of course they would taunt me and tell me there were bones and other scary things in there. I imagine this guy was probably waiting at the bottom of the stairs for me if I had ventured further! I still am a huge wuss when it comes to scary things! No haunted house tour for me tonight!
The curtains are ugly.
That's such an amazing story, I want to find a place like that!
"here dear, yes, let grandma take your picture in your new halloween costume. Aren't you a little old to be trick-or-treating? wait...oh...oh, dear...no...you're not my grandson...AHHHHH"
That's a heck of a lot scarier than anything I saw tonight.
How much of the person's head is a mask? Is that black top of the head just covered in a hood?
The eyes are pretty scary too.
"Oh Graaandma! I'm coming to eat you!!!"
What an awesome picture for Halloween! It reminds me of my students trying to scare each other at the school dance today :) The photo looks rather vintage to me. The kitchen looks dated. The fact that this was found in an abandoned house makes it all the more fascinating!
Happy Halloween everyone and enjoy lots of candy ^_~
I can't stop staring into his eyes... I think I... need to get a sharp knife from the kitchen... and...
FRANK!!!!!!!!!!!
i agree with pry
is it the costume that was found in the house or the photo? because when the finder mentions the cupoboards being full they say 'as you can see in the photo'
the question is burning.
This picture was taken in GA. Please notice that the window is being proped open by a fan. Why would I have my window open in late October in MA? My terribly succesful sister invited me to GA for this big Halloween party at some club in her new hometown. I had to drive there since I couldn't afford a plane ticket with the money I was making at the market. I couldn't tell you how we ended up at this ricketty old house, I think my sister wanted me to see it because of the similarities between my house and this one. I do know alcohol was involved and lots of it. I took a whole roll of film which my sister had developed the next day before I had to head out. The plan was to head home early the next morning but I was far too hung over and didn't leave until around five that evening. The drive home changed my life forever. When I finally made it back to my place and had a chance to look at the pictures I had taken in a drunken stupor, the memories of that night came rushing back. I was overwhelmed, between the memories coming back and the thing that happened to me on the road home-well, I couldn't stay anymore. I left, right then. I told no one. I have never felt more alive. All because of what I saw on the road. .....
You will never see me on interstate 95, never.....
This is a great find! I love the old curtains and off-color fade from age. I wonder why there is a fan in the window and a radiator under it. I wonder why there are Christmas bell decorations hanging in the window. And why are there 2 flat ferret-looking animals on the radiator? I bet that place really smelled bad, like mold. Icky-ew.
Brown spots = damp? Fan + radiator = both for de-humidification? Ferrets on radiator = very soggy gloves (slippers?) drying out? Bells = to warn of Dracula flying in through the window??
Perhaps she met some nice guy with a nice dry house and never looked back.
I hope you're right, Jonathan.
this is really really unsettling.. i have to go to sleep now :S
For all of you Junior Detectives, get your notepads out...seriously ppl, its MA, it gets hot, the house doesnt have central heating or air conditioning, or any ducted ventilation system...she probly had the fan there to circ. some air, as the kitchen likely was sweltering while she cooked. and there's this crazy device on those heaters called an ON/OFF switch......just cause its there doesnt mean she ran the fan and the damn htr together...more of these mysteries to be solved momentarily...THIS CONCLUDES YOUR LESSON
Just watched <i>Donnie Darko</i> and thought of this find. I totally get the FRANK comments now. :D
Ah, screw it. Sorry about the tags.
