So Are You a Seeker... December 30, 2001 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...

I love to find things written by lost loved ones, because I do feel like it's a little note from beyond - to let us know they are watching over us & they still care.
It doesn't look like it was written in rage, but either way, she had very pretty handwriting. Good words for all of us to remember too.
Reminds me of a song my dad used to play over and over again when I was a kid. Sing it with a big Suthun Draaawwl.
Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble,
When you're perfect in every way.
I can't wait to look in the mirror,
'Cause I get better lookin' each day.
To know me is to love me.
I must be a hell of a man.
Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble,
But I'm doin' the best that I can.
Thank You...thank you ver' much!
Jello, my always Dad sings that song too, it must be a dad thing
Opps i ment my dad always sings that too
Yes, but I am perfectly me.
The handwriting looks like my stepmom's mother's. She felt just like a grandmother to me. She died in 1998. It made me happy to see, to think of her. And to think how everyone has moments like that. I miss you Evelyn.
After a weekend of mistakes, I needed this reminder.
Whew.
you know what'd be really hilarious? If it said pobody's nerfect.
This find is beautiful.
I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony said........
reminds me of when i was in grade 2, and we were supposed to sing that song at the christmas thingy, and i was so nervous, that i threw up on the redheaded girl in front of me, who would whistle through her teeth. I didn't like her very much, probably jealous of her unique ability. Where ever you are, red headed girl, i apologize.
It's true. Nobody is perfect, even if you can whistle through your teeth.
i'd like to think this was the working title of a recipe that the grandmother accidentally stumbled upon after making a mistake while cooking. grandma's "nobody's perfect" pie. delicious!
It reminds me of the end of the film "some like it hot", it's the last line of the film! :)
I don't remember who said it, but it reminds me of, "If practice makes perfect and nobody's perfect, then why practice?"
Thanks Dana for telling us what kind of book it was in. Now, what KIND of cookbook?
I think that I needed that find today. Thanks.
I can understand her difficulties with Chiken a la King. My own grandmother had a lot of trouble with Steak and Shake.
Once we took her there and her burger had flour on the bottom. She thought they were trying to poison her with mercury.
Beth in England, I thought of that, too. What a great movie
I keep clicking back here, and each time, I think "Oh, yeah! That's right! Nobody's perfect!" A nice reminder.
That song, "It's Hard to be Humble" is by Mac Davis. I remember he sang it on his TV show. He had this bit where he'd make up a song, improv style, from a suggestion from the audience. He had one about nervousness:
Butterflies in my tummy
Butterflies in my gut
Butterflies in my tummy taste yummy
Taste like wild hickory nuts
I don't know how many years it's been, but for some reason that one stuck with me. Wish I could remember "nobody's perfect" so well.
i check this website from time to time.. today was a hell of a day and this really really made me feel a lot better. thank you for finding this.
Ceci n'est pas une trouvaille.
Today's find is less interesting than a discarded gum wrapper. Compare this minimalist drivel to a full-bodied find like this:
http://www.foundmagazine.com/find/451
which has received only half-a-dozen comments. We should all be ashamed of ourselves and embarrassed for the editors.
Standards, people, standards.
it almost looks like she was going to continue writing. the empty space makes me wonder what else could have been said. it's a cliffhanger!
What a perfect birthday comment!!! That explains me to a T. I have tried all my life to always make people proud of me, but until recently, I didn't realize that, hey, NOBODY is perfect. No matter how hard you try. But for me, this find IS perfect.
She had clearly never met me.
MC2, everything can have meaning, one find is no less important than another. I do like #451, tho..its too cool.
(and i love your use of the hyphen :-) )
This find is awesome. Especially for someone that's having a shitty day, has been beating themselves up for letting someone down or for doing something plain stupid. We've all done something stupid we later regret. We just suck it up and say "nobody's perfect!"
WRONG!
...I'm perfect.
i saw this find a couple days ago, but re-found it today, and it is exactly what i needed.
Hannahbelle: You are the master of the hilarious non sequitur. I love your comment! Thank you.
Who is this Nobody and what makes them so special?
That's very touching. I wish my gramma would have told me that a long time ago.
my grandmother's handwriting looked just the same.
Hannah Montana??
Nobody's Perfect!
I gotta work it!
Again and again 'til
I get it right
Nobody's Perfect!
You live and you learn it!
And if I mess it up sometimes... (Hey)
Nobody's perfect
