Spiderman
FOUND by Kristie Cornell in Lafayette, Louisiana
Found this on the sidewalk on my way home from a movie.
Lindsay in Iowa City
It's a cute picture of "Spidy" and "Mary Jane." Kind of odd they had it done professionally, but cute nonetheless. I bet they went to a Halloween party afterwards.

it must have been taken at their senior prom. that explains the backdrop. in which case I've got mad respect for their strangeness, though I don't know that I'd ever want to meet them...

Colleen, I agree. Maybe I'm just being cynical this morning and I am quite sure this pic was special and sweet to them, blah blah blah, but... I don't know. Weird.

Lost in Space
I see this picture with two back stories:
1) The woman is an elementary school teacher and on Halloween/picture day her boyfriend came to the school and surprised her and her students with a visit from the hero. This picture was snapped to commemorate the moment. Highly unlikely, but cute.
2) Someone is a little too obsessed with spiderman. Possibly two someones. This would be the more likely story.

I think that this picture is cute the way it is, but it would have been even better if Spider Man was upside down and kissing Mary Jane.

We had a "Meet Spiderman" event at our Wal-mart recently. The pictures were free and they were taken with the photolab's backdrop. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a similar event at a different store.

When I saw it, I thought maybe it was at a sci-fi convention. People dress up there (I've heard. I'm not so geeky I'd go! Actually I'm just not so rich) and I'd imagine that they would have professional school-type photographers set up to take pictures of all the people in costume. That would be a fun gig, if true. Especially compared to taking pictures of snotty-nosed grade twos.

I don't get it ... what's supposed to be photoshopped here? Looks like a school/studio photo with either her boyfriend (or girlfriend!) dressed in a Spider-man costume OR just a Spider-man dummy that she's kissing on.

Great find!

Okay, I find this picture EXTREMELY creepy. Like, EXTREMELY! He looks so stiff and disconnected from her, and she's clutching his arm to her and kissing him...it's like she dragged her bf to the photoshoot and he is totally uncomfortable...
Although I like Hope's idea of it being at Wal-Mart, and this creepy Drew Barrymore lookalike and a perfect stranger in a mask both mutually sexually assaulting one another.

It's not creepy - the girl is smiling. I would find it "creepy" if spiderman was lurking in the background unnoticed, or something. Why does everyone's spidey sense about "creepiness" seem to be tingling out of control these days. Chill.

For my highschool grad photos there was a couples section they put in the yearbook (stupid idea seeing as most of those couples will probably break up and look at that photo in their yearbook and just get annoyed)
But maybe this is one of those. You get some pretty crazy stuff, i know one of my buddies and his boyfriend at the time dressed up as Rocky and Bullwinkle...never thought to ask why they had the costumes..

That ain't no dummy, look, he's got a smile on his face under there. On the other hand he can't see a lot through those fake eyes, so it's probably not his fault that he's just grabbing what comes to hand, tee hee.

this one is har-larious for sure, and I suppose I would have to lean more towards creepy than cute.
As far as origins, I'm going to have to agree with Hope. Most box stores have "photography studios" that offer packages for five to ten bucks. Before I even read the comments I was reminded of last Christmas when one of my friends called me and said that she had bought a package for $9 while grocery shopping at Meijer (in Michigan they are like Wal-mart without the evil) and invited me to join her photo session. We dressed up like cowgirls and acted really filthy the whole time we were there. It was cheap fun, but I suspect anyone who came across one of our pics on the sidewalk would find it a little creepy too.

So funny. It's as if it was "meet spiderman" day and the girl knew the man behind the mask was here crush or maybe boyfriend so decided to take the photo while he was hard at work. Otherwise why such professionalism? Eh?

I firmly beleive that this is a dummy head and arms. She is holding "Spidey's" left arm to make it seem more natural, but the right arm hanging free is obviously fake. No one holds their hand in that position when posing with someone.

At Universal Studios in Orlando, once or twice a day, Spiderman appears in a store where you can go to have your picture taken with him. I have several pictures of my son with Spiderman from the 2 years we went there. The background is the same.
I am a bit alarmed at how Spidey's hand seems to be creeping down her. I'm hoping they know each other out of costume. Her Spidey-sense will be tingling!

My boyfriend is a costume designer. We were at a portrait studio documenting his work. Yes the background is corny, but the picture was not posed.
