We're Only Gonna Die Anyways
FOUND by Matt in North Carolina
I found this while exploring an abandoned house with my cousin. It was crumpled up and shoved under a couch cushion.

I hope she took him back... I would have killed to get a letter like this. One of the most romantic things I've ever read.

The ending is sort of... sad? In a cynical sort of way? It wouldn't convince me to stay with someone...

Too much T & D .... very sad to see someone in that much emotional pain.

Sad, but he kind of messed up the whole letter at the end by saying "We're only gonna die anyways". Makes it seem like one of those cliché 'life's too short not to' things. He probably deserved what was coming to him if he's appologising so much, but I beleive in second chances. Apparently she didn't, though, if it was found under a couch.

Dude, if she's mad at you she probably doesn't want to run away with you to someplace warm, especially with the "We're only gonna die anyways" comment. Makes it seem like you don't really care anyways. Not so tempting.
Nice to see he's appologizing though.

i just had a huge fight with my sister and i hit her really hard. she cried for a long time, and it hurt my heart, but i couldn't take it back. on one hand she deserved it, on the other i loathe the years my mom used to beat me. she doesn't get hit by anyone other than me.
i wish i could tell her i'm sorry.

This is so pitiable. What is really sad to me is the fact that the apology is written in such a pleading way and that the fact that we're only gonna die anyways seems more important than the fact that the writer loves this person. I think this was written by a sad, desperate individual and is not romantic in the least…

WOW! And I wondered where all the romantics had gone! Now I know - they write these loser notes. Such a line - 'we're only gonna die anyways' Yah dude - eternal lines of love. Geez.

Considering it was found in an abandoned house, it sounds like they eloped after all. I hope things worked out, but I kind of have a feeling they didn't.

-- Just tell her you are sorry. Sometimes when you wait to long, it is too late. Don't let that happen. Never use your Mom's mistakes as an escape or an excuse, be stronger, break that cycle! APPOLOGISE!

At first I thought this was sweet, but then it reminded me of my over-controllong exboyfriend who used to write me notes like that whenever he screwed up, and sadly I came back every time. My advice would be to fun far far away, without this creepo.

I'd totally melt if someone sent that to me. Hope he/she took him/her back, and I hope they found some magic. It'd restore some of my faith in humanity I suppose.

What a fripping deal! Once you say it, it's going to be in their minds forever. They probably wish this person would just die.

You always mean a little bit of what you say, even if it is mean. The "im sorry" note is a good try, but if you are at the point where you have to run away to fix it cause the girls family hates you... you probably don't deserve a second chance. Maybe he should just run away somewhere warm and leave her alone... cause you are going to die anyway... so why would she bother going with him? I hope she realized that.

Another cool find w/another great story.
I wonder if they ever did make up and run away together. I kinda hope they did.
I don't like the last line however....yeah, we're all gonna die but that's not really "win-the-love-of-your-life-back" kind of language. It should read something like...."Let's seize the day together and take the leap!" I'm just sayin'.....

I still think someone at Found had a recent breakup- it's been a pretty consistent theme lately. :(

And to --: you abuse your sister? That's beyond fucked up. Saying 'I'm sorry' doesn't cut it when you beat someone. Get yourself some instensive counseling, join a group for batterers, and if you really care about her safety, stay away from her until you learn to control yourself. Jerk.

I have to use that last line as a pick up someday. That's great. Not going to win anyone over, but it's worth the laugh.

As to the apology, it depends on what he said. There are some things she probably shouldn't forgive him for.

Why does everyone assume that it is written by a boy?

Is it because of the handwritting? Because I know plenty of girls with scratcy boyish handwritting like that.

I know I said some of these same things to my best friend (who is a guy) last week after a big fight. However, the last line seems to me like something you think about and know is true to yourself, but you wouldn't blurt it outloud.

Is it just me, or is the "WE'RE ONlY Gonna Die anyways" written in slightly different handwriting?

If so, the apologizer must have been completely crushed.

Around this time of the year, yes, it is warm in North Carolina. Today it was around 75 degrees and has been really nice lately. It is not warm if you compared it to say, Florida though.

Emma, don't think the handwriting is different. Look at the 'r' and 'y'. Both constructed in the same manner. I believe it's the same person - just feeling a stronger emotion - perhaps that's the reason it looks just a bit off.

This is a first draft, that is why it was crumpled and discarded under the couch. The abandoned house is where we would sneak away together. He knew my father hated him and he had to many brothers at his for us to be alone. How I miss our sweet afternoon trists on that old worn couch, i discovered myself. The finale draft was much sweeter AND WE DID RUN AWAY TOGETER.
Still being chased by death.............

I'm not sure it's ever worth it to "spend every day fixing this." that sounds... unpleasant. Wouldn't it be better to maybe dedicate like... two days to "fixing this" and from then on spend every day... making love?

hey MICKEY - lighten up. i'd say something about "judgenmental bitch", but that would be more lighthearted than i want to be in addressing you. :-/

this person is obviously already crying for help, and recognizes that they are hurt, too.

yes, ---, you should seek help, but "help" in the *real* sense of the word. there are people out there who can help you work through this and change your impulses.

history tends to repeat itself until you make a choice to break the cycle. make the choice.

This first time through, I completely read this from a different perspective. I read it to a son from his slightly crazy mother who is estranged from her husband (his dad). She did something for which they all were mad at her, and the dad absolutely couldn't forgive her. But she's trying to win her son back over and run away with him to start a new life. Crazy moms.

Much Stronger Without Him in A Much Safer Place
WHAT?! I truely hope that they did NOT run away together. It sounds EXACTLY like something my first boyfriend wrote to me. He was a controlling, possessive, temperamental, self-absorbed cheater. He even tried to conveince me that he was schizophrneic to get me to take care of him at one point. The end is inteneded to sound cool and philosophical and slightly emo or goth. It says that "we'll find that magic truely exists in here and we can spend every fixing this" "in here" is meant to be either the relationship or there hearts "fixing this" is meant to mean making up for whatever it was that they broke up over. The fact that he says he loves her too much to let her go is frihtening (believe me, i know!) because he doesn't love her he just wants to possess her and when she wants him to let go he won't. He will intimidate and even attack other people to "prove his love" and keep her from being able to move on. If his solution to the problem is running away it means he doesn't care about fixing the relationship with her parents and doesn't want them interfering anymore. I'm certain that this did not end well! It's not chivalrous, romantic, loving in any way. It's just meant to seem that way.

Quite a good find.
To respond to Emma- I think the "We're only gonna die anyways" is written by the same person because they write their capital "Y" the same way as in I'M SORRY, its a lowercase "y" but just written bigger. Oddly, I do the same thing.

I must be one screwed up person but this is the story I imagine when I read this find:

Two Romeo and Juliet-esque lovers run away from their families together, to an abandoned house. The boyfriend is a controlling bastard (hence the creepy language in the note) and abuses his girlfriend. They argue, and one of her cigarettes accidentally burns the house to the ground, with them inside.

Of course, this is just the general gist.

The first time I read this, I pictured a girl writing it. But, the more I think about it, I agree with the assumption that it was from a guy.
I also agree with 'MuchStrongerWithoutHim.' This person is an (at LEAST emotionally) abusive control freak and I hope the girl/guy who this note was written to got as much distance between the writer and themselves as possible.

Sounds like lyrics to an early rejected Springsteen song: "I know your father hates me, so let's run away to someplace warm, we're all gonna die, so baby, we were born to die!"
