We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
I like how they added "David" to Bowie..like we would confuse that the great pioneer Jim Bowie made an album of greatest hits.
ok now i have a favorite. awesome, awesome, awesome. i like several bowie songs, but i'm laughing, because i know exactly what the author is talking about. "have mercy" is right. i would so put this on my fridge if i found it. and the drawing, i love it.
Did you play loud bad Bowie (David) records, Christopher? And did your ex-neighbor have a bizarre lightning-shaped rash on his face? Then yes, he meant to give it to you.
If you don't like Bowie, GIT OUT OF AMERICA!
i didn't know were are any bad bowie records.
i didn't know were are any bad bowie records.
Now that he's moved out we can be Heroes - just for one day though. Glad all the Panic in Detroit is over with and he didn't Stay.
Warm Regards,
The Thin White Duke
PS. Is there life on Mars?
Please only play the good Bowie (David) records when I'm trying to sleep. Play the bad ones when I'm awake, if you would, so that we can enjoy them together.
(Is that a portrait of Bowie (David) on the Find?)
So the story goes, he wrote a note and left in place that seemed improbable.
The pizza boxes were not mere remnants of a move as you might assume, but excess construction materials. The square wrote his note then thinking it would probably fall on tone deaf ears, struck upon the idea of building his own home away from (David) Bowie. I have a hunch he now resides somewhere under the shadow of the Golden Gate in his Pizza Hut.
Is Pizza Box Man any relation of Donut Van Man? Be careful or he might send his little hit-man nephew round to spoil your day.
That is definitely a portrait of Bowie as Aladdin Sane.
No one ultra-square could have written that colorful note! Maybe you misjudged him?
But yes, the question is - does the finder play Bowie records or not? It might answer the question as to who the note was for.
A plea for help. Bowie was torturing him, and he needed relief. No wonder he moved out.
I've never heard any Bowie music, but my abiding memory of him is in Jim Henson's Labrynth as the Goblin King. And his very tight pants. My roommate made me watch that movie hundreds of times, and I wanted her to have mercy, too!
Does anyone ever wonder who Librarian or Farmer or Hiplainsdrifter really are? I'm torn between actual careers relating to their names or full-time celebrities/comedians.
So, this is the BEST!
And..to the show Flight of the Conchords has a few hilarious episodes with "David Bowie." Check it out:

Dearest (unhip) Neighbor:
You got it. No more (David) Bowie.
(note to self: cue up Barry Manilow, Jimmy Buffet, and Celine Dion to loop before leaving for long weekend roadtrip.)
@beth, i still watch Labyrinth at least once a week. oh those pants....mmmmm...
should we assume that christoper did play bowie loud enough to warrant a note? otherwise, why would he consider it may be for him?
and, yes, i think cartoon man probably enjoyed listening, just not while he was trying to sleep. because afterall, who doesn't love bowie?
I think that's supposed to be a drawing of (David) Bowie. The pink zigzag is pink bangs. When I picture (David) Bowie I picture pink hair, whether that's justified or not - I just do.
obviously that kid has no taste.
@Fooch - I love the Conchords! My fave is "Business Time"
Wow. That looks like a picture my mum or dad might've drawn.
I know it's late in the day, but here's the thing we've all missed (I think): the dude that wrote this Find COULD have been thinking "bad" as in "b-a-a-a-a-a-d," that is 'really, really good.'
@Singer C. in NC ... hey! what a coincidence! I, too, am torn between an actual career relating to my name and being a full-time celebrity/comedian.
Labrynth is the best.
"Jareth: You remind me of the babe.
Goblin: What babe?
Jareth: The babe with the power.
Goblin: What power?
Jareth: The power of voodoo.
Goblin: Who do?
Jareth: You do.
Goblin: Do what?
Jareth: Remind me of the babe."
This Found made me remember how my sister and I played Bowie's Diamond Dogs album a million times over. The art on this is so wicked cool. We could look at the album for hours on end.
@Phoebe Muse -- LOL! Yeah, David was always Bowie to us fans. I don't know why but he was just cool that way. I remember a friend referring to Alice Cooper as "Cooper" once and thinking she was way out of it...
"In the year of the scavenger, the season of the bitch
Sashay on the boardwalk, scurry to the ditch
Just another future song, lonely little kitsch
(theres gonna be sorrow) try and wake up tomorrow"
I love me some Bowie! Gotta get Diamond Dogs on my iPod.
I love Suffragette City! Don't lean on me, man....
@ Singer C: Well, we know Hiplainsdrifter draws cartoons (although cartoons is not the right word—there's a better word).
about the names librarian, highplainsdrifter, and farmer, they are all wishfully thinking. librarian is a stripper who wishes she was a librarian. farmer is some redneck guy with a couple of tomato plants in his yard who is looked down upon, mainly by the other people in his trailer park. and highplains probably just likes the beastie boys.
I think it's funny how he felt the need to bring in his highlighter markers. Did his love of coloring come before or after trying to highlight "please"....
Anyone else wonder if librarian or hiplainsgrifter have actually supported this site by purchasing a Found Magazine or book.. or are they just here for their daily (attempt at) ego massage?
Anyone who hasn't been here a while has no clue that Farmer has more substance in his semicolon key than lib and hpd have in their combined assets.
Oh! Uncle Jesse wrote this note!
@fooch and highplainsdrifter.. my fave Flight of the Conchords song is the French one. I think it's called "Fou de fa fa."
@DeLonghi Model CT12.. great suggestion! Cue "I write the songs" and set to replay. That should appease the notewriter.
I know.. it's too late in the week for these comments.. je suis en retard.. c'est la vie.
I actually have an original gate-fold vinyl album of Aladdin Sane. That sketch drawing is awesome!
the classic david bowie pink lightening bolt across the eye, im hysterical right now!!
